    Hello, really like this series!
    You've mentioned a bit about new players starting as a tank, I just wanted to share my experience: I started playing wow this expansion and never tanked before in any of the mmos I've played. I started playing as a paladin as retribution, but then slowly started to shift into protection. My main appeals at the time was that I thought its gonna be easier getting into groups being a tank (which is true), and a fact that I won't die instantly by standing in the wrong spot (which is partially true, but I didnt realize at the time there are tankbusters and cost of death for a tank is much higher than for dps)
    Anyway, I started slowly, played heroics for quite a bit to learn the spec, started playing m0. Honestly the first few 0s were terrifiying, and when I finally started playing keys and became even worse. I still remember the first keys that were depleted solely because of my mistakes. I even considered dropping playing a tank because of it, but I kept trying. I guess an advice I would give to other new players/tanks is to not get discouraged by failure, keep trying, don't start blaming anyone, try to focus on what you did wrong and not on what your party did wrong. Try to think how to do it better next time and try again, with practice it really makes it easier.
    I'm not a pro, defenetely not the best tank out there, but I'm currently getting closer to 2500, and I finished my first +10 recently, which I think is not bad for a person with no prior tanking experience
    Edit: just wanted to give advice regarding ironfur: bind it to the mousewheel down(or up). This way you wouldn't need to press it and it's less stressful for fingers

      trial by fire is the only way to start tanking, which is why people get discouraged. but all you need is one good key and a supportive group and you get on that horse and you ride it till the end. i've been tanking for over 6 years now, and i can't go back to dpsing anymore

      Thank you so much and thanks for sharing! You can only learn so much in a normal or heroic dungeon and sometimes you just have to take that leap and jump into those M+s. And honestly, the WoW community is hard on new players. But you're right, you just have to focus on your own gameplay and if that means you have to carry your team and play better because they aren't, then that's what you gotta do.

    I love the videos, I'm a fairly new subscriber but I always find it interesting to see someone venturing out of their comfort zone and trying new things,
    I personally love the Demon Hunter play style. I also started tanking in Shadowlands as a bear tank but didn't find the playstyle very interesting. Then I got a demon hunter and started tanking with him, and I had the time of my life. I love the mobility and all the ground control options. I know the demon hunter was considered overpowered in the last add-on, but this class is worth a try, and I would recommend it to anyone.

      Thanks! Yeah, I'm beginning to think that I'd like a tank with a bit more mobility. I feel so slow haha

    Love the series. I am, kind of, a seasoned tank with 2.7k in both SL and DF, but pugging is scary. And the screenshot of the route on second monitor has never crossed my mind. I will be doing this from now on, thanks!
    Edit: I have tanked with almost all the classes that can, but I love monk tanks, and it's my highest geared tank with 621, but my warrior at quite a bit lower ilvl has 30% more HP and 200% more survivability. More love for monks, please.

    @makovecek00 29 днів тому +2

    i rly enjoy brewmaster monk, since their mitigation is passive called Stagger and all you do is you can clear the stagger, but its not about spamming one button (obviously this is oversimplified, you have more buttont ot press)

  • @FannerofFlames
    @FannerofFlames 22 дні тому

    As a seasoned tank, yes all tanks have active mitigation - guardian has ironfur, brew has stagger (which you maintain with normal rotation), prot pally has shield of the righteous, prot warrior has shield block and bdk has bone shield. These are all 100% uptime. The exception is vdh, demon spikes cannot be 100% uptime so you need to weave it with other defensives for full coverage

    Love seeing people learn new roles! i found doing a stint as a healer made me a better tank! Most fun tank for me has gotta be Brewmaster. There's so many things to think about and juggle so it is very overwhelming initially but it does LOTS of damage and you get so many movement options. When played right it's awesome. When played wrong, well... i spent a lot of time on the floor "learning".
    Feel free to ignore but if it helps, a tip i learned for pugging the first boss of city of threads is to ping where i'm gonna go. When the boss yanks players it hits them for a chunk of damage which is what usually kills groups, but pinging a direction lets the group understand what the plan is so they can start moving in advance and stay in the direction the circle is going. Ofc this is entirely subject to the pugs but... it minimises the odds of them falling over.
    Ping system has been a literal godsend for pugging as a tank

    • @pokket_gaming
      @pokket_gaming  27 днів тому

      Pinging is huge! So true! I am happy that they brought that into the game. Especially when pugging.

    Don't forget you can pop Incarn before you start the key and it resets when the dungeon starts and you keep the buff so it's very handy for them dungeons with early pulls like siege :)

  • @conaann9914
    @conaann9914 28 днів тому

    Helpful tidbit for that first pull, if you incarn before the key starts you will carry over a bit of time in incarn into the first pull (and it resets the CD on the start of the keystone). This will let you get more thrash casts off which is essential when DPS are going ham, don't be afraid to swipe to just get some threat, it's not optimal over other spells but it's guaranteed to make sure your healer doesn't get aggro.
    Lastly, pick up some defensive trinkets from the raid, they will help fill in your CD gaps and be more mindless on your defensive usage. Your DPS will be lower, but you aren't losing keys to a lack of tanks DPS so why not make yourself easier to heal and tankier

    • @pokket_gaming
      @pokket_gaming  27 днів тому

      So many people have told me about Incarn before the key start. I always forget! haha But I need to do it. 15 seconds of extra incarn is huge!

    First off loving the series. I came back for tww, never really played retail since wrath. I started playing dk for the first time and blood tanking for mythic and I do enjoy it. I don think I ever have a problem with aggro, but from the few TW dungeons I’ve done on guardian it does seem harder to hold aggro. I also hate the iron fur stuff and that has really turned me off from guardian.
    It’s honestly pretty hard to play without death grip. Slappy hands is my favorite spell to cast. The only thing that’s pretty tough on a DK is that you’re very squishy at the start, so some of your bigger pulls feel very daunting. That invincible feeling you get with innervate doesn’t really ever come to a DK imo, but when you have full runic power you know you can heal yourself very well. I love the class.
    That all said, it’s pretty stressful tanking sometimes. It feels like a big task and not relaxing at all, and I think that makes me want to play less. Watching this series does make me want to go run some keys, especially seeing you progress quite quickly to higher keys. Right now I’m clearing 3s with ease, hoping to move towards 5s.

      Death grip definitely sounds nice. Just being able to pull all the casters to you.

    every tank has a maintenance buff that they have to maintain, though none like ironfur. Closest thing is prot warrior with ignore pain, but prot warrior also has shield block you want to keep up all the time. Pally has shield of the righteous (but this comes from damage rotation naturally) and keeping concecration down (and standing in it); bdk has blood shield, bone shield, and death and decay; vdh has demon spikes; monk doesn't REALLY have anything like that, but they have a bunch of other things you need to maintain

    • @pokket_gaming

      I just feel like i have to hit iron fur constantly, nonstop, through the whole key. I'm just not a fan of that.

    I've been trying to main guardian druid but if I'm honest I think blood Dk is the most fun tank. very stressful and keeps you at the edge of your seat.. but lots of fun to play and I love how much control you have with it via grips/ranges interrupts/etc..

    Most fun tank for me is brew master but if you don't enjoy iron fur almsot all tanks have that in some way warrior has ignore pain and shield block paladins have shield of the righteous and consacration dh has demon spikes, dk's have bone shield and brew has stagger management. and if you don't like this you might not enjoy tanking at all.

  • @SlySargatanas
    @SlySargatanas 21 день тому

    Bear is iron fur, DK is bone-shield, DH is demon spikes, warrior is ignore-pain, Palli is shield of righteous.... they all have one also palli and dk have a ground aoe you have to stand in so game play is different but honestly also kinda the same Druid, DH, Monk/DK, Palli/Warrior favorite to least favorite

    Hey 2.6k Rio Guardian Druid here with 630 I level , even I struggle with threat and I feel that guardian is the only tank struggling with it , if you have an enh shaman in group it happened to me a couple of times they take aggro from you in the middle of the fight which is annoying asf we need a dmg buff , we are the tanks that do the lowest dmg .

      @pokket_gaming  27 днів тому

      I feel like it depends on your skill level and your role. I've seen good DPS players at IL 600 jump into a +10 and do more DPS than people at a 620 IL. But for the sake of my Guardian Druid if I was IL 614 I'd be shooting for 8 and 9s.

    do you ever watch your own gameplay? you talk about how difficult getting/holding aggro is as a tank and blame pugs but if you watch the video you legit just aren't casting anything half the time because you're just sitting there spamming thrash waiting for it to come off cooldown...might help your aggro and your personal dps if you actually use abilities lmao
