I'm surprised that Perrito's backstory isn't even in the honorable mentions. It's such an incredibly depressing backstory for a character in a kid's movie to have
It's funny how DreamWorks used the bleep sound effect on Perrito when he roasted the bears and Goldi. That literally came out of nowhere and managed to make me laugh so hard 😂😂
The sequel is way more interesting than the first one! and the fact that Shrek was referenced and even appeared in a flashback made it even greater! and i love that even this movie had it's share of dark humor, dirty humor and adult humor! because no animated movie would be truly complete without it.
Puss in Boots the LAST wish is HANDS DOWN the BEST sequel. It shows so much truth in it's pages and shows true reality of things. Showing kids and adults that life is precious and don't take it for granted because one day you won't have that.
@@sandfanboy999 Think what you want just know that you might go to the deepest parts of hell forever for it, and you’ll suffer for eternity, which is possibly 11000 years, and then you’ll be re-judged by god and promptly spat on and your soul incinerated whilst god watched shrek 1 & 2
Puss In Boots The Last Wish is easily one of the best animated movie I've seen in a decade. The movie can be extremely crowded but the writers managed to give each of them to steal the scene very well especially Jack Horner, Death, Goldi and Perrito
I’ve seen people critique movies for having too many villains but I think this movie did it right. They each have their own unique personalities and goals that they want to achieve weather by wishing on a magical star or realizing they had it all along.
I’m usually very good at holding back tears watching movies, and maybe only tear up on one or two scenes, but this one? I couldn’t hold back in many scenes, it’s perfect
One thing I really appreciated was when Puss was having his panic attack...I am extremely susceptible to those myself and I never related to him more than in that moment. Also, shout-out to Perrito for knowing exactly what to do to help calm his friend~
Well, Perrito IS a dog. Loyalty and knowing how to respond to a friend's emotions is kind of first nature to dogs. That's why the best therapists in the world have fur & 4 legs.
To be honest, when I was in high school, something happened to my mom that shattered me. I gained anxiety attacks, loss of trust in people, hallucinations, loss of interests, loss of sleep, and needed therapy. The only comfort I had was my dog. He was the only one that was there when dad was out. It was a hard moment for me and my dad. To this day, it’s still in my memories, a dark, scarred memory.
I'm diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. It's so hard dealing with all these attacks. The longest one was like an hour and I thought I was going to die. I relate to you. This scene specifically made me burst into tears. I've watched shrek movies throughout my childhood and seeing the most bravest character go through something similar broke me. The scene really captured what if feels to be in that moment. The heart racing, the uncontrollably heavy breathing, the muffled voices, sometimes the ringing and the fear. When going through an attack all I can remember is this intense feeling of fear where you think you're really going to die and no one's going to help you. Half of your body also becomes paralysed sometimes. Idk how to differentiate an anxiety and panic attack because I heard they are different but I had episodes where it's just so sudden and randomly happening and then there are these attacks where there's triggers. Coming back to the movie. I really appreciate the whole team behind it. They did such a good job. I love how they thought of an antagonist who is a force of nature and cannot be defeated. Death is so good to look at. His character design and his personality. Everything about him is so well done ans so well thought of. He's so terrifying. His whistles also gives me that eerie vibe.
When me and my bf watched this movie, he laughed at the panic attack scene meanwhile I'm tearing up coz I also know what it's like to have attacks like that, it's beyond awful. I am annoyed that my bf laughed coz it's not funny and idk why he laughed but maybe he just hasn't ever experienced it so doesn't know what it's like or how to react, idk, but the way it was portrayed with puss was so realistic, I appreciate the work put into this movie and I love it
Honestly can say I've never seen a final fight more meaningful in a kids movie. Puss engaging Death knowing it's impossible to win but fighting back anyway is a really compelling message to send, particularly with those suffering from severe mental health issues. The culmination of coming to terms with it and accepting its inevitability was the perfect way to end.
I wish they mentioned Perito’s sad life and how he’s different than Puss. While Puss looks at the negatives in only living once, Perito tries and does live his life to the fullest and happiest.
I honestly love how mature they have Puss in Boot's panic attack and his anxiety. it wasn't played for laughs, it wasn't overdramatic, it was so fucking real. just one of the big reasons why this movie is so good.
10:40 I haven’t been this anxious or had a panic attack since I was a teen. Man, those years were hard. I suffered depression and anxiety when I was a sophomore. After my mom was taken away from me and Dad, we both suffered from traumatic stress, teary nightmares, hallucinations, anxiety attacks, unable to sleep, losing trust, building our mental defenses, waking up early in the morning or never sleeping, becoming apathetic, and eventually seeking therapy. It helped us cope with our pain and anxiety.
Top 3 (In my opinion): 1. Meditations on death 2. The portrayal of anxiety 3. What did Kitty smell? Some of these things shows that this movie was more made for adults instead of kids. It's crazy to think they made fairy tale characters more mature. These were made for people to learn when they were older but not for kids.
12:46 As a kid, I was terrified of death. The idea of sleeping forever scared me, the thought of never seeing my family again haunts me, and the feeling of my body being still and cold still gives me anxiety. But, after losing most of my relatives over the years, I learned Death will come, we just have to learn to live with it. Even if it terrifies us in our minds and hearts.
It is a terrifying thought when you’re young. The idea that your mind, body, and soul will one day cease into unending darkness. One day we will pass on leaving our unfinished dreams, deepest regrets, and the things we love behind. Everything you had done will be a distant insignificant piece of the universe. That is simply reality. But, as you grow older, you begin to care less. You achieve more and more each year, reaching new heights, discovering new places that you never thought possible. You feel accomplished, that you have done your part for both yourself and others. You will be remembered by those you love and remind everyone of your story with what you leave behind. For those who are wasting away, I encourage you too immerse yourself in every aspect of the world as you will one day be gone. Whatever goals and aspirations you have, fulfill them, do not postpone. Live life to its fullest.
"What the hell are you talking about" and "I've been called lots of names...sh*t for brains" caught me off guard and then the mentioned name calling string of bleeps had me dying of laughter
Another little detail. When Puss was running away with Kitty at Jacks pie factory, and he looked back and saw the wolf. After kicking off the chest of gold the wolf put two over his eyes. That was a common practice for awhile, the coins were placed on the eyes of the deceased person to pay the fair for the ferryman in the afterlife.
Fun fact: Goldi’s wish was foreshadowed in the nostalgic pines section where the map says: “To find your wish, adjust your view What you seek may be right in front of you” Her wish was to get proper parents her “Just right” she then realized her wish was already granted. After she broke into the cabin.
Also something I found interesting is the parallel between Death and Preitto. One being the embodiment of death embracing the nature of his job, while the other embraces the majesties of life. Two doggos that will always be a constant.
Easily one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while! Antonio and Salma’s chemistry is everything all the way from Desperado. The villains were really good, death is intimidating. Jack Horner being evil just for fun, Perrito’s cinnamon roll status, etc! It also had great messages such as being grateful for what you have in life and that we all have one life and we should live it wisely. This movie is a masterpiece, period.
13:12 Kitty: I hate to say it but, should we make a wish? Puss: Kitty, *one life spent with you* , it's all I could wish for! *FUN FACT: I am 23 NOW and I cried a few real tears in cinema when he said that! NOW THAT'S REAL ROMANCE AND PASSION!*
This movie was incredible in every way - top tier animation, writing, character development, voice acting, and humor on top of a deeply profound message and moral lesson that can resonate with any age. One of my favorite animated movies of ALL TIME. 👏
(11:52) For Kitty to say such words to Puss regarding him “needing therapy.” Well, she’s not exactly clean neither. That map they had kinda spells out what each of them are really like deep down. Kitty touched it and it revealed sorrow and loneliness.
I thought they were gonna talk about how Goldilocks's line "You're the smash and I'm the grab" is basically a subtle adult joke meaning Baby's biologically their kid when she's adopted
the panic attack scene almost made me cry, having a history of really bad anxiety and seeing panic attacks being portrayed the *right* way on screen is really eye opening and comforting in a way, not just for myself but for other people that struggle with these sort of things. this movie is hands down the best sequel i've seen in a *while*, it' so rare to see such a good sequel from any movie and dreamworks did such an incredible job, and im so excited to see what they do with the 3rd movie
One thing I liked about death was how terrifying it was, but it only showed up when puss was doing something reckless. Also, the coming after puss early because he hadn’t changed yet.
Something I thought was interesting was that every time death shows up, all of the color (except for red) disappears. This shows how anxiety can take the "color" out of life.
"Youre Horrible" was by far the best adult reference, the exactly same quote from James Stuart on his greatest movie of all. AMAZING. Its a wonderfull life has to be the greatest movie in history.
I love how Dreamworks focused on making this movie for those who were kids when original movies like Shrek and Puss in Boots part 1 were released, including curse words and even a drop of blood at one point - and it makes the movie even better.
1:51 not an adult joke, but I love how the doctor has a candle for lighting in his forehead. This is a modern tool used by physicians today that uses electricity. Since they wanted to use an stereotypical image of a doctor, but without electricity, they used this fictional apparatus, a mixture of modern times with medieval times (like the Shrek Franchise). Using technology, like when they sprayed pepper in Shrek 2 with a pepper mill, instead of pepper spray.
One I laughed at was in the crystal cave with all his past lives, when they all started taunting him for being afraid, calling him a coward and what not. One of the lives emphasized he was a "PUSS" in boots lol
I noticed one thing that nobody else seemed to notice. The main villain of the movie is a Mexican Wolf. This isn't an Gray Wolf or Artic Wolf but it is a Lobo which are an endangered species. Once you realize that his motivations all make sense.
Yes it does... a father of 5, someone with ptsd, anxiety issues, and dying of cancer, but used to be awesome.. . Yes. This movie was really good . Made me cry, and idc I shared it with my kids. They need to know, and are very smart. I want them to remember dad
The Last Wish proved to be the movie that succeeds the 2011 original. It may have the same humor and charm as the original, but it has more mature themes revolving around mortality.
I would say the plot of Puss in Boots is more similar to Pirates of the Caribbean 4. Captain Jack Sparrow is a legend who hears a conversation about the fountain of youth. Several different parties are after it (Blackbeard, Spaniards, British, etc). Jack ultimately has the chance to drink it but gives it up. Puss in Boots overhears about the last wish. Several different parties are involved (Puss, kitty, Goldilocks and the bears, Jack). Puss has a chance to make the wish but decides against it.
This movie is living/breathing massive proof that DreamWorks is still making the flicks and I’m LOVING IT!🤩 DreamWorks, I’m proud of you. You did great!❤️👍🌟
When i first saw the wolf and learned that he was literally death i thought either he was the canine version of the Grim Reaper or he was just a Hell Hound.
I found a musical tidbit in it randomly (spoiler warning) So Death has his iconic whistle, but it does change a LITTLE at the end. Throughout the majority of the movie, his whistle is in a minor key, signifying his intimidating nature and, well, death in general is scary. In the end, when Death leaves Puss for the final time, his whistle changes to a major key, showing that Puss is no longer scared of Death, and that Death's job of intimidating Puss into not being too reckless has been completed. I guess knowing a little bit of music theory pays off
I recon the story about Perrito getting put in a sock with a rock inside and then getting tossed to a river is a reference worth a honourable mention or a spot on the list. At least Perrito can look on the bright side of getting swept away
So, moments where adults know what happened and kids don't... How was Perito's childhood "hide and seek" game not mentioned? This is such a good movie though! Great job on the list!
I didn't watch much movies in 2022, Puss in boots the last wish is the only one movie I watched (I forgot that I watched Turning red and Hotel Transylvania 4😅). Everything in the movie is just great: graphical animation, music, concepts of characters, characters' backstories, wholesome moments, action scenes, lessons. Every single of them are perfect, I can't use any florid words to describe how amazing the movie is like films reviewers but in short and straight up this is one of the most fantastic movies I've ever watched. After watching the movie I realized that it's the first time I enjoy dark side, it's not bad to me at all (things about Death wolf and something else). So to anybody hasn't watched the movie yet, watch it, it can make your day.
I lost my dog Storm over last summer to her old age; she was 15 years old. We were so close, I forgot she was a dog and thought we would die together. I'm just glad I have someone to look forward to seeing when I move on to the afterlife.
I love the fact that 16 year old me was telling my parents how Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is an outstanding movie and that they should watch it and then my mom told me that my 9 year old cousin doesn't want to see it because "she is a big girl and that movie is for babies"
I didn't even realize until watching the movie a few times that Puss' "Oh, you're still here?" at the end of the movie was also DreamWorks trolling Disney's post-credit scenes.
They snuck in some English swears as well hahaha (plonker and Muppet are hardly the worst ones but amusing nonetheless) That anxiety scene with Perrio cuddling him really resonated with him (also my dog does the same I'm upset its the sweetest) The bears was a nice exploration of blended families also the stuff with puss was like a person being given a terminal diagnosis
Puss in Boots the Last Wish is just sooo well written and animated. Seriously, if this movie doesn't win any awards this year, then there's something seriously wrong with the award system. They should do an award just for animated kids films that tackle serious issues, if they did, this one would definitely be a winner
Jesus Christ when the wolf at the end started his whistle I got a fckin chill down the spine with goosebumps. Goes to show how good of a villain he was
“Fight for the life you have, fight for it to give it meaning, Life has no meaning because life doesn’t exist. It only exists to the individual. Every person, every cat, dog, fly, all the way to the smallest of bacteria or cell. Every cell in your body are all individuals and all of them give themselves life because they work to make you live. They have life because they have meaning. Just like you have to give yours meaning”
Goldi's story is by far my favourite. Absolutely brilliant and well written. I never expected that kind of writing in a fairy tale kids animated movie. Was so beautiful. 😊
Funny how we as teens and adults thought with was funny and inappropriate for kids, but stuff like this was always in movies when we were younger, just to young to notice lol
Not many people clocked it but the “who ate all the pies” line from the bears had me rolling It’s so fitting considering their accent and it’s so funny
If you look closely at the start of the movie where he is fighting the rock giant. Where people are doing the wave you can see death just barely for about 7 frames.
Another things that we missed in puss in books the last wish, maybe children have noticed it but, when the doctor blows out the candle, that’s pusses 8th live, in the bar a candle goes out right before the wolf arrives which means the wolf went there to kill him
Man I was so happy to see the little shrek references since I re watched all the dvds i had of the movies all the time when I was around 4 and I still do now.
I was in the movie theater with about 10 4-8 year olds and when the Shrek references came on they went mom it’s shrek I don’t think there’s a child in America that doesn’t know what shrek is
fun fact: at the scene where perrito words are bleeping out,the word he is saying is "shit" according to the brazillian dub perrito says "merda" which means "shit" in english, and again in the spanish dub someone says "fuck this country"
I just want to say that i appreciate you pronouncing the Spanish names and words correctly. So many review channels have pronounced Perrito's name as "puh-ree-toe" instead of the actual Spanish pronunciation, so it feels good to see a channel actually pronouncing them right. Thank you.

I'm surprised you guys didn't mention the rock and sock in the river that Perrito talks about. It would've totally slipped past me as a child.
Congratulations to the people at DreamWorks for six Annie Award nominations! (Plus eight if you include those other four projects)
Something I thought was interesting was that every time death shows up, all of the color (except for red) disappears. This shows how anxiety can take the "color" out of life.
The thumbnail of Kitty's mouth being covered by Perrito's paw. "All I smell is Bulls-!" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
"turning them into confetti with his bad aim"
also jack: *snipes a small map 20 meters away from him using a trident*
I noticed one thing that nobody else seemed to notice. The main villain of the movie is a Mexican Wolf. This isn't an Gray Wolf or Artic Wolf but it is a Lobo which are an endangered species. Once you realize that his motivations all make sense.
Yes it does... a father of 5, someone with ptsd, anxiety issues, and dying of cancer, but used to be awesome.. . Yes. This movie was really good . Made me cry, and idc I shared it with my kids. They need to know, and are very smart. I want them to remember dad
Perrito swearing made me laugh so hard lol in the portuguese dub they let the swears without the censorship and it was gold
The Last Wish proved to be the movie that succeeds the 2011 original. It may have the same humor and charm as the original, but it has more mature themes revolving around mortality.
My husband and I went to see this and we absolutely DIED when Perrito started cursing 🤣🤣🤣
I can’t believe that they think kids won’t recognize shrek 😅
I would say the plot of Puss in Boots is more similar to Pirates of the Caribbean 4. Captain Jack Sparrow is a legend who hears a conversation about the fountain of youth. Several different parties are after it (Blackbeard, Spaniards, British, etc). Jack ultimately has the chance to drink it but gives it up.
Puss in Boots overhears about the last wish. Several different parties are involved (Puss, kitty, Goldilocks and the bears, Jack). Puss has a chance to make the wish but decides against it.
except puss in boots just executed it better
This movie is living/breathing massive proof that DreamWorks is still making the flicks and I’m LOVING IT!🤩
DreamWorks, I’m proud of you. You did great!❤️👍🌟
Growing up watching the first puss in boots, and the series on Netflix over and over, the fact that his legacy is ending is heartbreaking bro 😢
I Absolutely Love Big Bad Wolf/Death in this Movie! He's a Absolute Badass and a Remarkable Worthy Adversary of Puss in Boots!
When i first saw the wolf and learned that he was literally death i thought either he was the canine version of the Grim Reaper or he was just a Hell Hound.
@@TheCommenterDragon I'm pretty sure he's Death, straight up.
@@TheCommenterDragon that was what I thought of when he first showed up too grim reaper came for kitty lol
@@mikecampbell8063 IKR! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
@@zakirstocks9514 whistle gave me chills tho lmao
This film remembered something about the Shrek franchise: It is *not* for kids!
I found a musical tidbit in it randomly (spoiler warning)
So Death has his iconic whistle, but it does change a LITTLE at the end.
I guess knowing a little bit of music theory pays off
Me noticing most of them as a kid:
"Mom, pack my bags."
*"im movin out"*
This is a perfect movie 10/10
I recon the story about Perrito getting put in a sock with a rock inside and then getting tossed to a river is a reference worth a honourable mention or a spot on the list. At least Perrito can look on the bright side of getting swept away
It was never meant for kids, it was meant for us. Everyone who was a kid when the original came out
This movie surprised me so much. I didn't expect it to be so mature and dark humored. Also, puppy's backstory should've been on the list
10:47 just wanted to point out the the area death is standing in looks like a skull
I love the fact that 16 year old me was telling my parents how Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is an outstanding movie and that they should watch it and then my mom told me that my 9 year old cousin doesn't want to see it because "she is a big girl and that movie is for babies"
@alfonso marcos tf?
This movie is certainly not for babies, and maybe not even for a 9 year old. My little cousin is having nightmares
@alfonso marcos ok but that has nothing to do with the comment
Puss was like Ferris Bueller when he broke the 4th wall in the end credits.
I didn't even realize until watching the movie a few times that Puss' "Oh, you're still here?" at the end of the movie was also DreamWorks trolling Disney's post-credit scenes.
I'm surprised you guys didn't mention Preitto's family, or the fact of where he learned all of those insults from in the first place.
from the people that encountered him after his "family" tried to literally drown him
They snuck in some English swears as well hahaha (plonker and Muppet are hardly the worst ones but amusing nonetheless)
That anxiety scene with Perrio cuddling him really resonated with him (also my dog does the same I'm upset its the sweetest)
The bears was a nice exploration of blended families also the stuff with puss was like a person being given a terminal diagnosis
As the old movies got older, the audience got older. Glad they made this movie for a somewhat mature audience.
“Velma” needs to take notes on how to show panic attacks correctly!
Velma is a lost cause and so is Warner Bros. They need to throw in the towel.
Velma is a fucking joke Disney is more accurate
I really enjoyed this movie! Death is just so badass. That whistle scares the hell out of me!
You know the WE BARE BEARS the character often use the “dingle” as a naughty word.
I'm surprised Perrito's backstory wasn't even an honorable mention
They are genius, they can make that many creative death and still safe to watch by kids
Puss in Boots the Last Wish is just sooo well written and animated. Seriously, if this movie doesn't win any awards this year, then there's something seriously wrong with the award system. They should do an award just for animated kids films that tackle serious issues, if they did, this one would definitely be a winner
Did anybody else notice that Jack was using Mary Poppins bag, or was that just me?
A 102% friendly kids movie.
Jesus Christ when the wolf at the end started his whistle I got a fckin chill down the spine with goosebumps. Goes to show how good of a villain he was
The 10 year olds who understood everything:
A moment that wasn't here that I don't think kids understand was Perrito's backstory
“Fight for the life you have, fight for it to give it meaning,
Life has no meaning because life doesn’t exist. It only exists to the individual. Every person, every cat, dog, fly, all the way to the smallest of bacteria or cell. Every cell in your body are all individuals and all of them give themselves life because they work to make you live. They have life because they have meaning.
Just like you have to give yours meaning”
Alright since ya'll aren't saying it, I will. Kids aren't that dumb.
To be honest, these are not just things only adults noticed. Every kid who watches this will too, that’s the reason the movie had all those things
Goldi's story is by far my favourite.
Absolutely brilliant and well written.
I never expected that kind of writing in a fairy tale kids animated movie.
Was so beautiful. 😊
You missed Perrito's backstory in the count. I almost missed what he was talking about, and I know kids wouldn't have gotten it.
same i didnt notice till after i watched the movie.
Man, these days Animated films and tv shows are getting more real.
The realist since Don Bluth.
Funny how we as teens and adults thought with was funny and inappropriate for kids, but stuff like this was always in movies when we were younger, just to young to notice lol
After the Far Far Away thing at the end, I heard a lot of parents and older siblings explaining to the kids that it was from Shrek.
"Fear me , if You dare"-Puss 2004-2022. Very interesting top Ms Mojo. Happy friday and God bless You, see You soon and take care.
Not many people clocked it but the “who ate all the pies” line from the bears had me rolling
It’s so fitting considering their accent and it’s so funny
If you look closely at the start of the movie where he is fighting the rock giant. Where people are doing the wave you can see death just barely for about 7 frames.
I absolutely adore the cricket's voice, this Kevin McCain is doing a fantastic job
I'm pretty sure everyone noticed the shrek reference 💀
Another things that we missed in puss in books the last wish, maybe children have noticed it but, when the doctor blows out the candle, that’s pusses 8th live, in the bar a candle goes out right before the wolf arrives which means the wolf went there to kill him
Man I was so happy to see the little shrek references since I re watched all the dvds i had of the movies all the time when I was around 4 and I still do now.
I was in the movie theater with about 10 4-8 year olds and when the Shrek references came on they went mom it’s shrek I don’t think there’s a child in America that doesn’t know what shrek is
@alfonso marcos scam
1:06 I ain't nobody's parent yet😂
fun fact: at the scene where perrito words are bleeping out,the word he is saying is "shit" according to the brazillian dub perrito says "merda" which means "shit" in english, and again in the spanish dub someone says "fuck this country"
Born in 2011 I still remember watching all the Shrek movies and these references made me Cry abit1
Unpopular opinion Puss in boots last wish is my favorite dreamworks movie
Mine as well!!!
Meanwhile kung fu panda am I joke to you 😂😂😂😂😂
That's not an unpopular opinion. I consider it the best Shrek film (even surpassing Shrek 2 now) and one of the greatest animated films ever made.
Mine too!
@@rommix0 À masterpiece I swear
I just want to say that i appreciate you pronouncing the Spanish names and words correctly. So many review channels have pronounced Perrito's name as "puh-ree-toe" instead of the actual Spanish pronunciation, so it feels good to see a channel actually pronouncing them right. Thank you.
