I'm so excited to get my dog into this!! He's a 4yo German Shepherd that has had a bit of bad luck joint wise, but thankfully after a lot of rehab he's been given the all clear to run again!! Great vlog, thank you!
Today is Nero’s 6 month adoptiversary! He’s a one year old and black lab and he didn’t have the best start to life as he was kept in a crate at all times by his previous owners 😔 my running has cut back a lot since having Nero as we’re working in his separation anxiety, so to get him into running with me would be the dream. We recently moved to the Peak District so I’d love to explore it together. He’s also just started fun swims at our local dog hydro as he’s a typical lab and is obsessed with water!
Just started running with my mini Australian Shepard, Koko. We’re keeping the miles low right now because I’m in Florida, USA and it gets hot and humid quickly. But she absolutely loves it!
I absolutely love this video! THANK YOU FLORA! I Although I run with my dog already, this video introduced me to canicross and it couldn’t have happened at a better time. Yesterday we we doing a 15k trail run and I let her off leash for all the technical downhills because I didn’t know that you can train dogs to run behind you. So that is something that you introduced me too and I will start working on immediately. While she was off leash, she went on to roll in poop. Gross! It was absolutely disgusting. So knowing that I can harness her full time will be a game changer! Thanks for this awesome video, Flora! Me and JuneBug (3 y.o. Redtick Coonhound ) are truly grateful. Keep up the amazing work!
Love this. Just getting into this with my big beagle. This has really helped. Just need to find others to run with as he wants to say hello to everyone.
Looks like everyone had fun!! It's a feeling like no other running with your dog☺️ I've got 2 border collies, but only my male really enjoys running and for 3/5km his name is Stoffel😅 and my female is Zoë, we usually take them both to the park for a frisbee play everyday and then I'll go for a run 3 to 4 times a week. Love from South Africa 🇿🇦🌼
Really helpful video, thank you! My running buddies are my german shepherds Meeko and Vincent, we currently run trails and some hills off lead or using their normal leads if on the streets. It’s so much more fun to run with the dogs and they get a great workout as well!
My running buddy is one of my Lhasa Apsos called Rainbow! She may be small but she is sturdy and always up for a run. You’re so right when you say it’s such fun running with a member of your family! Loved this video as always . X
This was so interesting! I go free running with my staffy cross, Frank, but would love to try Canicross. Being a staffy he's a muscly boy so I think I'd get quite a pull and probably my 5k PB!
This video was so helpful for me. I live in the states, and am just starting to hear about canicross. I’m so excited to try this sport out. My running buddy is a 14month old malinois mix.
Great video Flora! I run with my sheltie Lucky! 🦊 We started getting into running a year ago and we built our stamina together! The best motivation to go for a run is doing it together with her. We did a half marathon together in february and now we are training for 27k in the mountains! So cool to see that even smaller dogs can run far if you build up slowly! 😀
I have a gorgeous little dog called Bilbo who came to live with me at 4mo when I graduated uni. He started running with me as soon as it was safe to do so and has been my buddy on parks runs and longer trail runs. I now have to juggle between running buggy or dog buddy but would love to get him out more again with the proper kit! 😊
Just found your videos. So excited to get into this sport with my siberian husky/german shepherd Cross. Was struggling on what affordable equipment to start using and your video has helped. Thank you
Entering this for my sister! She has two gorgeous goldies: Frank and Dougie! Frank is just over 1 year old so perfect for beginning his canicross journey. He's done a few parkruns but is ready to move into his next gear, hopefully he can get as good as Tia!
Super excited to have found your channel! I've been running casually with my dog since I adopted her, but am now finally getting into canicross. Very happy to be on this path, because I've been learning a lot about dog safety and how to keep my furry friend healthy and happy whilst running. :-) She is a 4 year old, black, standard poodle who was meant to become a guide dog for the blind. Thankfully, she has way too much prey drive and ended up with me. She is the sweetest creature in the universe. :-)
Hi! We just started canicross. Me (55 kilo's and my dog 40 kilo's) sometimes i am a bit scared because he is a strong and fast puller and needs to learn all the basics still. BUT it is a lot of fun! I was smiling during your run, so fun to watch!
Great video, I've been in awe of Ben's canicrossing for a while now! I have a cocker spaniel called Winnie and we've been slowly building up the miles. She was one in March and loves a parkrun, although the heat lately has meant she's missed a few! I'm excited for canicross season when we can get into it a bit more!
Great, well timed video! I've just started taking our 13 month old standard poodle (Tony) out on some short trail runs. He's great and quite happy trotting along on or off lead, especially with my slow speed! Very much agree that it's great getting in Tony's exercise and mine in one - saves loads of time and effort! Don't have any proper kit yet (expensive!) so would be a well timed prize win!
Loved the video and thanks for introducing me to the non stop dog wear. I've been running with my dog Miko from time to time. He's a mix of Labrador and German Shepard Street dog mix who is quite sporty but got a bit lazy since last year. I really would love to take him for a run more regularly as I'm struggling with getting my runs in and walking the dog just like you mentioned it and I also think he deserves to get fitter again. Greetings from Germany :-)
Hi Flora, my trailrunning buddies are two Weimaraners. One five year old who can easily run a 20K and a one year old just getting to the first miles. Tried running without the dogs, but I just miss my family running through the woods alone….
Great vlog Flora, I have two running buddies a 5 year old Lab called Maisie (Lets just take it steady but can go when need) and a 15 month old working cocker called Luna ( who just wants goes full out 100% but I've reel her in for now as we've been building up her distance from 0.5miles to a mile with breaks during the run) using the julius k9 harness for now, after hearing about restricting movement. keep up on the content.
Getting my GSP in a few weeks and can't wait to start training. Came across this video looking for tips on starting training for puppies. Looking forward to really getting my new pal up and going by next year. ❤❤❤❤
Sophie is my 10yo shepherd-cross beauty. She tends to run best if there are deer or bunnies ahead of her but I can’t blame her. 🤷🏻♂️ Loved the video, that was a lot of fun!! Thanks to you and Ben for the information.
Love all your videos but especially loved this one for the dog involvement 😍 I run with my rescue pup Goose! He’s very very fast but not too big (only about 28Ibs) and we’re still learning how to work together. I’ve been eyeing proper canicross kit for ages but have yet to bite the bullet, lol.
I've got 2 rescues. Dezi is a 2 year old, 15lb Terrier (?) mix, and Homer is a 1 year old, 20lb Terrier/ Dachshund (?) mix from Guadalajara. Dezi is light on her feet but less excited about running. Homer is a tank, and sets a brutal pace on the trails 😆
Loved this video, thank you! My running buddy is my pup, Sully. He is a Flat Coated Retriever and just loves being outside and exploring trails with me. He is a little under two so I am just introducing him to some new commands and he has joined me off lead for a few low HR runs, but I am hoping to get some gear and start proper canicross training by the end of the year. He is a pro fox poo finder, so having him on the pull harness for this might help us to move past some of this - hopefully! I should also mention my boyfriend as a running partner, who reluctantly joins us both now and then. THe promise of a coffee stop at the end of the run certainly helps! Thanks again Flora!
Hey Flora! I have to say I just LOVED this vlog! I recently adopted my first ever dog, he's almost 7 years old and he's spent practically all his life in a dog shelter unfortunately. As you can imagine he's not used to walking long distances, so right now we're slowing increasing the distance of our daily walks, and hopefully soon I will be able to try and run with him, I can't wait! Thanks again for the video, lots of love from Italy x
I have 2 running buddies, Bear (Chihuahua/min foxy) and Blu (Australian Kelpie) and boy do they keep me on my toes. I’ve had so much fun introducing them to canicross over the last couple of years. But life would be a little easier if they had the right kit! I’ve been looking around and Non-Stop Dogwear looks gooood! Loved this video, I always enjoy seeing Tia get out and run 🥰
Loved this, such useful tips! Ran my first Maverick Race in Forest of Dean with my dog (a labradoodle named Reggie) recently and absolutely loved it so I can't wait to do more in future 🙌🏻
Love catching up with your running videos, especially when they involve cani-cross! I love cani-crossing with my Australian Kelpie Phoenix. They're such a hardy, work, work, work breed so he gets so much out of it, and it helps my fitness too! I do have another pup, Simba, the cockapoo and who knows maybe in a couple of years he'll join us on runs too. But honestly, what I love so much from Phoenix's point of view is that he's a working dog, he wants to work and have a job & he just comes into his own with cani-cross, so rewarding especially when you see how many (particularly working breeds) are in shelters because they maybe haven't had homes where they can have that outlet. Keep posting the videos too! Always keep an eye out for them. 😊
Yessss 100% agree with this. As a dutch shepherd mix, Tia is really high drive, and having a job like canicross even just a couple of times a week really calms her down - I can see how happy it makes her and how focussed she is! Much the same as kelpies (I don't think people realise how much they NEED to work). So happy to hear you're out there giving them the best life!
Trying my best for them anyway around work & life, but as you know with Tia, they NEED it. It's what they're bred for & to buy/rehome them & not do your best to do that (within your own capabilities obviously), is actually not fair on them at all.
My running buddy is a 3 year old cocker spaniel. She’s been running the very odd run with me because we really need a proper set up for her to be able to do it sustainably long term
My future running partner is Loki, he's a 35 kg Rottweiler mix. He'll be 1 year old in July and I can't wait to start running with him. We do go hiking and on long walks already together which is a great time to practice all the commands I want to use in the future while running. I was thinking to start with some off leash runs in non crowded areas as his recall is pretty good but eventually I want to get him used to running attached to me too ❤
Thank you for this interview, it was really intresting! I have salukis that (of course) loves to run, and my youngest think it so much fun when I run together with her. Because of that I've been thinking about canicross, but we haven't really tried it yet. It feels like I have to give it a go :D
Great Vlog! I run with Milly my husky catahoula mix. She's 75lbs and we trot not gallop, unless she sees a squirrel. Our longest race is a half marathon. There's no canicross here in Texas, except us but occasionally I find a race that will allow me to run with her, otherwise we are just out there by ourselves bombing around. I just got a working cocker puppy and am hoping she will love it too and will learn from Milly.
I canicross with Harvey my Jack Russell Terrier (although he's 11 & has had TPLO surgery on both back legs, so doesn't do as much as he did) and Brie my Working Cocker spaniel. They both absolutely love it! I started with Harvey as he's quite reactive and untrustworthy off lead, but once he's running he is so focused he'll pass or run with any dog!🏃♀️🐈 I've been struggling with motivation of late, but your video has certainly helped with that, thank you😊
my husky turns one next week so im looking forward to especially running with him, especially as its winter here in new zealand so he doesnt get too hot. would love a canicross starter kit!
Definitely need to enter this giveaway to kit out my newest GSP, Bo, who we rescued 2 weeks ago to bring our total to 1 lab and 2 GSPs (crazy household for us yay 😂). He was given up because he was too much of a 'handful' but he is the sweetest boy who just wasn't getting enough stimulation. He absolutely LOVES canicross, he's a natural, so we need to kit him out for sure. Excited to maybe even do some races with him next season 😬 Also fab video Flora, been waiting for this one for a while. Super helpful 👌
Super interesting vlog! I don't have a run buddy yet (though maybe winning the competition would convince me to take the plunge...). I never realised just how much of a performance boost being pulled by a dog could be, those times are insane!! 😲
I've loved watching your videos for years! My dog Bobbie is my running buddy, she's a lovable but absolutely crazy foxhound cross who is watching your video next to me and is clearly very jealous of Tia and Ben's dog running around (sorry we didn't quite catch his dog's name). Bobbie is very happy to run up to 8 miles or so but then starts to look a bit sorry for herself and puts the brakes on a bit!
Love your content, and this video was especially great! I’ve been running with my top man (dog) Balti for the last couple of years mainly off lead, and he is now and Ultra dog, having trained with me up to 65km for my 100k run I’ve just completed. Balti now has a little brother Keema (both big border collies) and I’m starting to run with him in a harness, as I don’t trust him enough off lead yet, so learning lots from your videos about running with Tia connected to you. I agree that one dog can train the other, I’m starting to see that with my two. I’d absolutely love to be in with a chance of winning the Non-Stop kit! Looking forward to seeing more content with you and Tia ❤
I’ve been subscribed to your channel for ages, but this video just hits home! Me and Oreo have been running for over a year now , trying to make sure I was ready for my first ever marathon. He loves running, but we nerve got to practice with professional equipment. I’ve only started looking for a proper kit for us recently , so I massively appreciate the advice! He’s a 3 years old border collie and we adopted him roughly about the same time you took Tia , so we’ve been following your journey for a while. Few weeks ago we’ve started teaching him to find his poo thanks to your tips on TikTok , I was surprised how quickly it became one of our favorite commands 😂❤! Ok , off for the walk to practice left and right command 🥰love Tia btw. She’s so cute🐾
OMG hahaha no way are you teaching that trick?? I'm always shocked when people follow me on TikTok haha but glad it's coming in handy! So glad you enjoyed the vid :)
Ceasar is my 3 year old American pitbull terrier, he is my road running partner, he also also a registered park runner 😂 has a few sub 25min 5km and usually finishes ahead of me. We do lots of off leash runs aswell. This weekend we ran a 55min 10km a first for both of us
Thank you for this video Flora. It was brilliant! My little running partner is a sweet, but very high energy schnauzer called Asta. We'd love to try canix, because like Tia, she loves running, just not as much in her normal harness.
We've recently welcomed Nora a Vizsla puppy into our home, which is a high-energy pointer breed. It was interesting to hear that pointer is part of the mix of Ben's dog. The wife and I have been spending the last year getting back into running so when Nora is ready so are we! Great video Flora, very informative.
Oh i LOVE Vizslas, they're some of the best running dogs, especially in heat as they're pretty heat tolerant. I hope you have many happy years running with her once she's old enough! :)
My new labrador puppy Bramble will be arriving in late July so really looking forward to that and starting basic training. I was looking for information on when it was the right time to start running with a dog so the info you and Ben have provided has all been very useful! When I got into running my last lab was too old to start, although to be honest she would still have been able to keep up at my pace 😂
My dog Tessa, she is a antonian shepherd that we rescued 2 years ago. She loves to go running and is starting to get much better staying in the trail:). Does great on the sidewalks. Luckily we live in a small town and not a lot of people out walking.
This looks like so much fun! I’ve been interested in running with my dog, but wasn’t sure the best way to start. I hadn’t heard of canicross until you posted asking for questions. I’ve been looking forward to this video! Lots of good info, and I’ll be checking out that couch to 5k plan for dogs for sure. I’m also going to start working on left and right commands on our walks. I started running during Covid, and unfortunately have lost the habit and am trying to get back on track. I came across your channel in the last month or so and it’s helped a lot to keep running on my mind. It’s amazing seeing how far you run, and getting to see all those beautiful places. You make it look easy, but I know there’s lots of hard work to get there. I figure if you can do all that I can try to do my little 5k lol. I also got a dog during Covid, his name is River. He’s a black lab with tons of energy. He’s such a happy good boy. He loves walks and playing fetch and I’m sure he would love to go for runs with me too. He’s 2.5 years old now. It’s probably too hot to run with him now in the summer. But that’s even more motivation for me to get back in shape this summer and run with him in the fall! I’m really excited to try out canicross and start running with River! Thank you for making the video!
Lovely video, so helpful ! I learnt a lot and will definitely use these tips out on my runs. I love running with my dog Archie, he's a lovable mongrel (springer/cocker/collie/huntaway cross)
Great video!! Sadly my GSD is so big and furry, he's a 3 miles slowly in cool weather only kind of dog. I'm working on the husband for dog #2 that can go with me on the trails for miles, possibly an Australian shepherd or border collie rescue. I'll definitely rewatch this when it's time!
Great video! We're starting off slow with training directions for our 6 month old border collie pup Cassie! Hoping to get running and Munro bagging in the highlands by next summer with her. We're also getting her started with a bike trailer so she can join me for some long cycle tours in Europe in future - she's going to be a full adventure pup!
Me and George (vizsla)would love a canicross kit! I’ve started running with him more in the last few months and have my eye on some trail running comps that I can bring him along to!
Fantastic vlog, been looking forward to this since you mentioned it on Strava. I often run with a friends GSP, Hettie. I find it totally exhilarating, running faster than usual whilst not quite being in charge of things. I've even had to flag a couple of runs on Strava as I'd taken segment Crowns.
I used to run with my old GSP Ollie, but he is no longer up to it at 13 years old so has retired from the running, my future partner is a 5 months old GSP named Rónán.
I’ll look forward to watching this tomorrow. I’ve had my rescue girl for a couple of months now and we’ve tried a few short runs together, just a little practice as she’s only 1, we have Aldi gear at the moment! I’m looking forward to our runs together, my first RR is too large and doesn’t enjoy it!
Oh and I’ve got us a 2 man (woman & dog!) tent and equipment for backpacking and Xena has a doggy sleeping bag ready, she can’t walk long distances yet but I can’t wait for us to hike together. She is a Rhodesian Ridgeback that hadn’t even been out of a house until I adopted her 😢. Starved and mistreated and a broken tail. She’s going to have great life now 😊 Any recommendations for hiking dog harnesses with bags so she can carry a few of her own things, if you’ve tried any would be great. I plan to use the canicross equipment for hiking 🐕👩🦯😀 Like you I don’t drive so when she’s more confident around people (abuse related) I’ll be attempting to introduce her to public transport so we can travel anywhere together ❤
Sounds like you're giving her the best life - it's so sad to hear about their pasts. Tia used to be scared of everyone and everything, but now is an absolute champ, even on London public transport! So there's hope - just give plenty of treats and do things slowly :) In terms of harnesses, I'd really recommend the Rock harness (long or short) - it has loads of options for pulling or heel walking so is super versatile for hiking and camping. It's what we use for Tia anytime we're walking rather than running! All the Rock harnesses & Rock collar are brilliant. They're also able to get wet and dry really quickly. 10/10 recommend!
@@FloraBeverley I’ll look that harness up thank you 😊 I’ve been trying to hold off buying anything too expensive yet, as she is so thin still. She’s growing very quickly now that she’s being fed well, I thought her growth might be stunted but she’s catching up quickly. 😀
@TriTrace ah yeah we had the same with Tia! Thankfully at around 10 months she reached a size that the harness adjusts to, so we've been able to keep the same harness for all that time. It's v adjustable!
Awesome Video Flora and it was great to see the dogs having such a good time. My Dalmatian, Dizzy, got particularly interested when they were telling you it was time to run… we call it singing the national anthem 😆 You should definitely try a race with Tia in the canicross season, looks like she’d love it!!
I do all my runs with my dog, he's a lot better at it than I am and I don't think I would be running as much without him. I'm planning on buying a canicross harness for him because now we just run with a normal leach and it's a bit of a nightmare not gonna lie.
Hi Flora! Thanks for this video, ive been looking forward to it for ages 👍👍 My running buddy is actually called Buddy too! 😊 He's a Cocker spaniel and is super friendly and LOVES rivers! I'm really looking forward to training him up to run with a harness in the next couple of months (he's 1yo soon). Thanks again for the great content, its really refreshing compared to most of the super-macho boys club stuff! 👍
I run with my 2 y/o lab Coll! I totally agree with you, the miles just fly past in good company 😊 At 33kg Coll is definitely a plodder rather than a sprinter 😅 But I’m following similar training to you and focusing on strength and endurance ahead of my first ultra (55k) in August. I injured my ITB after aggressively road training for the London marathon earlier this year so I’m focusing massively on trails and more chill pace / heart rate. Coll also loves a swim break so plenty of stops 😊 Coll wasn’t too fussed about running previously but now he’s 2 it just seems like something has clicked and he loves it ❤
I enjoy running with our 2 ex sled dogs. It’s the best and a properly trained dog can run long distances if it’s not too hot. We’ve run up to 40k and the 13 year old is still going strong. Now, ski joring, that’s really fun 😊
Lovley video! I run with my 3 year old border collie/blue heeler pup named Remi! We've been consistently running for about 2 months now and his confidence has grown so much. I would love to enter in a 5k race but sadly there isn't a whole lot where i live.
Hey Flora, I run with my Springer Spaniel waffle. I ran the London marathon in April and waffle ran with me up till 30k. He ran all my mid week training runs and is a great training buddy
North Star is my Service Dog (Semi Retired) Siberian Husky and he and I alone have been doing the Cani Walking and/or Canicross stuff since '14 but, when Journey came a long it was for about a year or so mostly her and I doing the training and then the next year after that I started working both Journey and North Star together. Journey is a rescue and she has mild special needs and when I have run her with her 1 on 1 or with North Star, too she does very well and the mild special needs do interfere with it as much as they do or have at any other time for her. Yellow Dog is my Service Dog in training, Labrador Retriever and he never seems to run out energy lol I started the cani walking with him as soon as he turned 4 -4.5 months old with the Vet's prior OK and then started to slowly introduce the Canicross at around 6 mos old (again with Vet's prior OK) and while he runs superbly well 1 on 1 or with Journey, he don't run at all with North Star, all the boys ever want to do together in harness is play wrestling and then it's a constant huge mess to untangle, they even get tangled in each other's harnesses. I have thought about this much, constantly trying to think as to how I can get them to knock it off, listen to me and RUN! There is a time to play wrestle and there is a time to RUN! I am still trying to figure out how to train them to understand the differences between both times, lol Seperately harness they do great, awesome! However, together is so far, still a NO GO! We have the harnesses and we have the bungee leash lines, I am just in severe need of the right running belt. Alpine Outfitter's Hands Free Running Belt is a POS!!!
I have 2 running buddies! My dog Rhine (2.5 years old) a Shepard-Doberman cross and Starfox my rescue from a Northern Saskatchewan reserve in Canada. None of us our very good at running but we love to be outside, smell and see the nature and then become couch potatoes post run 😂 We run together once per week but I’m really eager to get them more into it! I’m training for a trail 16k race in August in the Rocky Mountains (Alberta) and want to do what your doing with Tia and incorporate my dogs in my runs! Starfox doesn’t like to pull though so I think we need to take a step back in training 😅
My running buddy is Mochi 🐶💕 He is a 2 year old rescue from an indien reserve in the north of canada. He is a alaskan husky and labrador mix. I recently started to take him on my runs as I couldn’t say no to his cute puppy eyes any longer & he absolutely loves it! We would love to win the running kit 🫶🏽
Haha beagles definitely have a mind of their own! If they were on a scent they'd go for miles, but when you want them to they're like nahhhhh you're good XD
Yay. Have been waiting for your Canicross video and was not disappointed. You’re such a great presenter and the information was invaluable. Thank you. My gorgeous running partner is Pip, an English Springer Spaniel. She’s not particularly large which works well for me as I wouldn’t be able to keep up with her. I focus on long and slow for ultra events so Pip and I regularly stop to have a break, consume nibbles/treats and to hydrate. By the way, have you considered The Lap or Endure24? I enjoyed both of those event. Anyhow, I’m rambling on but it would great to upgrade our gear. Thanks for all the content.
So glad you enjoyed this vid! I am not a fan of lapped races but I can see the appeal as a training run, if you can drop out when you like. Maybe one day I'll be mad enough to enter!
Hello Flora, Nice introductory info on canicross. I have never commented on a video before, but you seemed so genuine in your enthusiasm to hear from your viewers and I was spurred on by the chance to win that canicross starter kit. I'm already doing a mini-tri this summer and 5k races will be part of my training, why not train with my best friend Rocket. He is a 70lb. Airedale/Standard Poodle mix. Airedoodle is the most common name, but doodles are so common that I'm trying to coin the term Canidale Terrier for his particular cross(cani from caniche which is Poodle in French and Dale from Airedale Terrier). I think he is the best dog that ever lived...I guess I'm in love HAHA! I'm retired now so that starter kit will sure come in handy. CHEERS Keith
Don't forget to protect your dogs joints when doing cani cross, its really hard on the joints and can lead to Arthritis later in life. We've been using Antinol for our girl and she is faster and can go for longer! Arthritis can be really debilitating so best to prevent as best as we can!!
My dog Jake who is a springer spaniel absolutely loves running, when we can't take him for some reason, he chews up something of my wife's. LOL And a lot of the times that my wife and me can't run together he is more than happy to do a double run that day. He probably runs between 25 to 35 miles a week. And he became an ultra-dog 2 years ago when my wife was training for her first 100K he did all the long runs with her 30+ miles.
I run with my wonderful boy Kane! He’s a black German Shepherd and the love of my life. ❤ I wonder if there’s anything we can do for dogs when they experience muscle soreness from running.
I LOVED filming this vlog - nothing better than getting to spend a morning running and chatting about dogs! Don't forget to like, subscribe & comment to enter the giveaway of Non-stop dogwear kit. If you can't wait that long, FLORATIA20 will get you 20% off anything on their site. Happy running & say hi to your dog from me!
I love this sport, hated running until i got into Canicross with my Golden retriever, now i run several times a week, with and without my dog 🏃🏼♀️
I don't have a dog yet but running with my future dog is my absolute dream! This looked like such good fun, hope you had the best time!
Can't remember last time I ran without my dog I've greyhound cross bull he'll go forever. Love the content you put out great speaker very enthusiastic
Omg!! So awesome. My baby boy Wallace William has to run every day! Rain Snow or Shine! 🎉 loved this vlog. Thank you 😊
Just started running with my mini Australian Shepard, Koko. We’re keeping the miles low right now because I’m in Florida, USA and it gets hot and humid quickly. But she absolutely loves it!
I absolutely love this video! THANK YOU FLORA!
I
Although I run with my dog already, this video introduced me to canicross and it couldn’t have happened at a better time.
It's a feeling like no other running with your dog☺️
I've got 2 border collies, but only my male really enjoys running and for 3/5km his name is Stoffel😅 and my female is Zoë, we usually take them both to the park for a frisbee play everyday and then I'll go for a run 3 to 4 times a week.
OMG cute! Sometimes the small dogs are just as into running as the big ones, it's so impressive!
This was so interesting! I go free running with my staffy cross, Frank, but would love to try Canicross. Being a staffy he's a muscly boy so I think I'd get quite a pull and probably my 5k PB!
I run with my Samoyed Nova throughout the year (including Canadian winters! 🥶) and then pause in the summer when it's too hot for her.
This video was so helpful for me. I live in the states, and am just starting to hear about canicross. I’m so excited to try this sport out. My running buddy is a 14month old malinois mix.
Such an amazing breed! Very jealous 😍 happy canicrossing!
In the Midwest and just getting started with my Malinois too! Researching equipment on a budget. Best of luck!
Thank you
loved this video!!! and read all the comments!!my dalmatian is 12 ! he runs really well!!
My canicross partner is Grayam, he’s a springer husky cross and absolutely loves it.
Great video, I am starting to get my pointer into running, he's a liver and white english pointer called Mycroft, also know as Mikey!
Thanks for all the I go! I’m excited to get more into running with my dog, Benny. He is a sweet little Jack Russell mix with nonstop energy and love.
Loved this video. I run on and off with my slightly reactive dog Sapa and she loves being in a pack of dogs and humans running!
Great video as always and I run sometimes with my terrier/chihuahua mix 😊 he loves running..
He is a god in our canicross world! British European and world champion countless times
Hi Flora, my trailrunning buddies are two Weimaraners. One five year old who can easily run a 20K and a one year old just getting to the first miles. Tried running without the dogs, but I just miss my family running through the woods alone….
Great video.. love running with my four legged bestie Jasmine.. she would love the non stop harness 🐶
Loved the video, that was a lot of fun!!
I realy like the entusiasm 🙂
😂 relatable on so many levels
Thank you SO much for adopting!! I hope you get many more happy years of walks and runs :)
Congratulations, you've won the canicross set! Please can you DM me on Instagram @foodfitnessflora to discuss how to send? Thank you!!
Oh cuuuute! I really wanted to do that race but was away. I hear it's beautiful there!
Grace & Peace, my running buddies are Laila (pitbull) & Cujo (Siberian/Mix); we love your channel!!!
My running buddy is my rescue pup Noodle! We've just started running together and a run-specific kit would be amazing 🤩 Loved this vlog by the way!
Great video! I’m looking to start running with my dog; Albus 😊
Oh wow what a mix! I love catahoulas. What colour is your pup? Did she get any spots? Sounds perfect!
I canicross with Harvey my Jack Russell Terrier (although he's 11 & has had TPLO surgery on both back legs, so doesn't do as much as he did) and Brie my Working Cocker spaniel. They both absolutely love it! I started with Harvey as he's quite reactive and untrustworthy off lead, but once he's running he is so focused he'll pass or run with any dog!🏃♀️🐈
I've been struggling with motivation of late, but your video has certainly helped with that, thank you😊
my husky turns one next week so im looking forward to especially running with him, especially as its winter here in new zealand so he doesnt get too hot. would love a canicross starter kit!
Excited to maybe even do some races with him next season 😬
Also fab video Flora, been waiting for this one for a while. Super helpful 👌
Super interesting vlog! I don't have a run buddy yet (though maybe winning the competition would convince me to take the plunge...). I never realised just how much of a performance boost being pulled by a dog could be, those times are insane!! 😲
First Like to Flora. Interesting interview. I haven't got a dog 🐶. A nice week for everyone. 🌞🏃🌞
Thanks for watching even though you haven't got a dog Manuel! Have a great week 🤗
Crazy border collie running buddy!
Oh wow, they're huge aren't they?
Thanks so much for sharing this! Your pup sounds amazing, I hope you get in lots of lovely runs together :)
Lovely video, so helpful ! I learnt a lot and will definitely use these tips out on my runs. I love running with my dog Archie, he's a lovable mongrel (springer/cocker/collie/huntaway cross)
Wow, hard to find the huntaway bloodline here in the States. Good for Archie!
What an amazing mix! Bet he's energetic!
@@FloraBeverley he’s got so much energy!
Just getting interested in CaniX. Not super popular in the states. I run the trail with my heeler/kelpie mix, Kilo.
Omg this sounds amazing!!
I would have to have called the paramedic for myself long time ago.. lol. Love ur attitude.. you must be seriously fit as well.. nice job.
Hahah that's very honourable of you! Pointers are incredible, glad you're having fun with it!
I used to run with my old GSP Ollie, but he is no longer up to it at 13 years old so has retired from the running, my future partner is a 5 months old GSP named Rónán.
I run with my Samoyed Gwen, she loves it!
Wow that was so fast! I was praying that you Tia didn’t run in front of you when you swapped dogs!
Sounds like you're giving her the best life - it's so sad to hear about their pasts. Tia used to be scared of everyone and everything, but now is an absolute champ, even on London public transport! So there's hope - just give plenty of treats and do things slowly :)
In terms of harnesses, I'd really recommend the Rock harness (long or short) - it has loads of options for pulling or heel walking so is super versatile for hiking and camping.
Sounds awesome, hey Buddy! SO glad you enjoy the content, thank you so much :)
What a fun video!!!
Coll also loves a swim break so plenty of stops 😊 Coll wasn’t too fussed about running previously but now he’s 2 it just seems like something has clicked and he loves it ❤
Very informative thanks 🙏🏻
I enjoy running with our 2 ex sled dogs. It’s the best and a properly trained dog can run long distances if it’s not too hot. We’ve run up to 40k and the 13 year old is still going strong. Now, ski joring, that’s really fun 😊
That's incredible! Where are you based?
Lovley video! I run with my 3 year old border collie/blue heeler pup named Remi! We've been consistently running for about 2 months now and his confidence has grown so much. I would love to enter in a 5k race but sadly there isn't a whole lot where i live.
Oh wow what a mix! That sounds awesome :) Ah you'll have to organise your own!
I'm a slow CaniX, but saw Ben at Cannock Chase. His daughter is fast too.
Hey Flora, I run with my Springer Spaniel waffle. I ran the London marathon in April and waffle ran with me up till 30k. He ran all my mid week training runs and is a great training buddy
Omggggg Waffle! What an amazing name for an amazing dog
@@FloraBeverley my son named him, waffles are his favourite breakfast 😀
None of us our very good at running but we love to be outside, smell and see the nature and then become couch potatoes post run 😂
We run together once per week but I’m really eager to get them more into it!
Such a great vlog! This looks like so much fun. I only wish my lazy beagle would tolerate running for more than 100m before he puts the breaks on!
Haha beagles definitely have a mind of their own! If they were on a scent they'd go for miles, but when you want them to they're like nahhhhh you're good XD
"I've attached myself now to a proper canicross dog!" Flora ! !
Cover your ears Thia :) 🐕
😂 I did think she might get a bit offended 🙈 she was great though!
Hello Flora,
Nice introductory info on canicross.
Good tips to try with Woody, a 15 month old, 22kg Springer Spaniel.
22kg! A big boy! 😍
My running motivator/buddy is Jac the Jack Russel 🐶❤️
Don't forget to protect your dogs joints when doing cani cross, its really hard on the joints and can lead to Arthritis later in life. We've been using Antinol for our girl and she is faster and can go for longer! Arthritis can be really debilitating so best to prevent as best as we can!!
Eh, arthritis is largely genetic.
Haha Tia steals my slippers if i'm away for more than 24h! Thankfully she doesn't chew them up anymore, but used to!
I run with my wonderful boy Kane! He’s a black German Shepherd and the love of my life. ❤ I wonder if there’s anything we can do for dogs when they experience muscle soreness from running.
Such fun👍😃
