      Depends also what is the weight of your lens, if is not to heavy i think you could use also the star adventurer, and you will get extra mobility since it is a lighter setup, but the eqm 35 pro it is a more stable platform and has also goto and it tracks in declination also but you need also a good powerbank to power it .So there are + and - i had bought first the Ioptron Skyguider pro, but had a problem and returned it, and i bought after the Eqm35 pro and Skywatcher Ed80, and i was much more pleased with the Eqm35 pro it is much more stable and you have more safety with your equipment, with the skyguider pro the base of the mount was bad and not safe for heavy lenses, i did tested it with my tamron 70-300. and to buy another base for the mount it is extra money spent. Have not tested yet the Star adventurer so i can;t say to much about the performance. In the end it is about what you can afford to spend, i tried first with a lighter setup as i wrote above, but after upgrading, for deep space astrophotography i did appreciate what the eqm35 pro has to offer.

    After spending several weeks trying to decide which EQ mount to buy, this review showed me more than all the others, including any of the written reviews! While it's twice the price of the little portable ones, it seems to be very flexible in its use. I have no telescopes and don't intend to get any, so for me, being able to use my photographic equipment and have a solid base, I expect to be able to get pictures without any star trails.
    You mention that it can handle equipment that is heavier than anything I have, so it should not even come close to over-taxing the mechanism.
    Have you used the wi-fi accessory or know of anyone who has?
    Thank you very much for your time and effort to provide this! As a result of your presentation, I've subscribed, rang that bell, and gave it a thumbs-up. I can't wait to see what you publish next!

      Thank you very much for the appreciation, this was my first youtube review, it has 4 parts, i just uploaded also the last part of the review where i show how to use the Skywatcher Eqm35 pro as a lightweight astrophotography star tracker. The Eqm 35 pro is very solid compared with dslr startrakers, the base is much better i did tried the ioptron skyguider pro first and the eqm35 is much more solid and stabile, the only inconvenience as i said is that is heavier and you need also an external power supply if you go out with the mount. I do have also the wi fi adapter, if you want to buy it and use it with the modular photography mode with the ra axis should be ok, but i have tested it with my full setup and telescope on and i did experience errors a few times when attempting a meridian flip the mount moved in the wrong way and it almost hit my camera, had to stop the mount to prevent this, with the remote in 6 months it did happen only 2 times, and i manage to avoid by retracting the focuser. i might do a review soon on this subject and compare with the synscan hand controller, at the moment i prefer the remote over the wifi adapter when i use my eqm35 pro with the declination axis and telescope on.

    Hello, can you tell me does it work to leave your EQ mount running for 24 hours, if so has it then turned 360 degrees?

    • @GalaxyArtMedia
      @GalaxyArtMedia  4 роки тому

      Hello if you leave tracking on than at some point will hit the tripod and might damage your telescope and also the mount. Only way to leave for all night with tracking onnis doing a meridian flip you can do that also automatic using your laptop or other devices but i do not trust it so much it can appear errors. So if you want to. Leave tracking on then you shoud see when you need to make the merdian flip. If you just want to leave it turned on for 24 hours you can do that as long at it has power but i recommend to turn of tracking if you are not there to watch the setup and to make meridian flip. I never left so much on did not have any reason to leave it on during daytime.

    Hi, Thanks for the video.
    I believe you have the Dec axis rotated 180deg. When properly setup, both RA and DEC motors should be on the same side.

    • @GalaxyArtMedia
      @GalaxyArtMedia  4 роки тому +1

      You are welcome. I am not sure if it is any difference if the declination is 180 degrees reversed or not, I have seen people using both ways, but i did not researched more on this subject. According to my Instruction Manual for the Skywatcher EQM35 PRO goto, the normal setup is to have the DEC motor on one side and the Ra motor on the other side, as you see in this video. One advantage is that you are able so see the bubble level having the setup like this, on the cables part I think that the dec connection cable can be annoying in any of these situations.

    • @StoriesNMore
      @StoriesNMore 4 роки тому +2

      Yes, some of the pictures in the manual show it that way and I think that is where you go it from. It shouldn't matter about the 180 deg, but I believe you need to change the dec setting otherwise the telescope will point to the ground. The giveaway is the angle thumbscrew in the saddle to lock the dovetail. It is meant as a safety screw and should be pointed up to prevent the scope from sliding down.
      I just got a new EQM35 and currently setting it up. I watched most of your videos before my purchase, many thanks!!

      @animan999 On my manual also it states in writing to setup like i did. Not sure if they made any changes on other newer versions. I bought mine in may 2019. I noticed at an eqm35 pro from 2020 that had a different port on the control box that uses usb cable to connect the pc or laptop and mine has port for rj45 cable I think. Have to check to be sure but seems that can be small changes on the same mount model. I am glad you like my videos. I want in the near future besides astrophotography videos and reviews to make also art videos on my channel like nebula paintings and more. I am. Hi there. Looking at a used EQ35 that’s like new. Very new to this. So will the GOTO also auto guide for longer exposures? I was considering the Star Adventure Pro, however I would the. Have to purchase guide scope/camera and ASI. In the end would cost more than the EQ35. Would appreciate your thoughts.

    • @GalaxyArtMedia
      @GalaxyArtMedia  4 роки тому +1

      Hello! GoTO it will only find objects in sky so you do not have to search them manually. For Dso having GoTo it makes a big difference and it will help you a lot. depending also on your focal length some objects are very hard to find without a GoTo. Autoguider is another upgrade that you have to buy separately. I have a 53 mm guidescope and and ZWO 120mm-s camera that i use together to guide in phd2 and get longer exposures than the mount sidereal rate. But you cans tart without autoguiding, and buy that later. I have done this when i started. Eqm35 pro should also track better then the sky adventurer, and is more solid, to use at home with a telescope i recommend you Eqm35 pro more than light star trackers. a Light star tracker would be better if you have to walk a lot until you get to the destination where you want to image and you need something not heavy.

      Thank you. I was able to go up to 2 min at 600mm focal with round stars. But not all the time. Most of the times went with 1 min with a rough polar alignment. With a more precise polar alignment good balancing and using also Pec function you can get even longer exposures. With autoguiding and my dslr i went up to 10 min exposures with round stars.

      @@maskim3 I did not make any modification on my Nikon D7200, my ZWO 120MM does guide good, i did tried maximum 10 minutes, usually i went to 4 and 5 min this autumn, maybe will try longer exposures this winter after my Ha filter that i ordered will arrive. what i do not like is the st4 cable port, the st4 cable can get unplugged easy, when i move the telescope to other targets the guiding scope that i bought was cheaper, and the rings do not hold it very stabile, i do have to recenter often the guiding scope when i do mount it on the telescope. and if you intend to buy this mount, ro not hurry to buy the wifi adapter, i test it with the eqm35 pro and i did had problems with the wifi adapter when attempting a meridian flip , so for now i will still use the Synscan Hand Control.I think i will make a review on that also.

    Hello Ioan,
    Thanks for your review of the Sky-Watcher EQM-35 PRO.
    Can I ask a question?
    I also looked at the Sky-Watcher star adventurer.
    This one has only one motor, so only moves on one axis.
    The AQM-35 has two motors and moves on two axes.
    Is this important for astrofotography? For instance for long exposure times?
    Is it better to have two axis, or does it make no difference?
    Thanks.

    • @GalaxyArtMedia
      @GalaxyArtMedia  4 роки тому +3

      Hello Peter. I did use the eqm35pro using only the Ra axis and i did have good results also. You can use an autoguider to track only in RA axis if you use for example the Skywatcher Star Adventurer. The Eqm35progoto having also declination axis will give you an improvment in tracking and also Goto feature that it is much needed in longer focal lenghts. The autoguider shoud perform better also that means it shoud help at longer exposures and longer focal lenght. If you want to use a telescope like the ed80/600MM I do tecomand to buy the eqm35pro instead of the Star adventuter it also comes with a solid steel tripod and it has a more solid base. I would use star trackers like star adventurer more for milkyway photography when traveling it is more important and having a light mount has an advantage. I have seen good results on deep space targets with the Star Adventuter also so it can be also a good way to start. but if you have budget for the Eqm35-pro i do recomend this mount. I did have good results using it.

I started with the ioptron skyguider pro but i recive a model that was not working 100 as it shoud, it had some problems so i returned it and bought the Skywatcher Eqm35-pro. That it can help you also to gey milkyway astrophotography having the lightmode and has an adavantage if you travel over other heavier mounts but it is still heavy to go at a far distance from the car because of the tripod.

      The images in the review were made using the Tracking performance of the EQqm35 Pro so no Autoguiding camera used. At 600mm focal length using my crop sensor dslr, i could go up to 90 sec exposure time with a polar alignment using the phone app to align with polaris. So that is why i went with exposures of around 60 sec. With a photo lens with a more wide field of view you can go with longer exposures. Currently i am using an autoguiding camera with guiding scope with the eqm 35 pro and i tested up 10 min exposure time with successful results, with my Ha 7nm filter; with my uhc-s filter i usually imaged this winter from 2-4 minutes exposures .

    • @GalaxyArtMedia
      @GalaxyArtMedia  3 роки тому +2

      Hello. It happened a few times. Best is to use a dslr when aligning instead of eyepiece, and be sure you enter the correct date hour and other data in the synscan remote. Also you can check the telescope for cone error. Make sure also that your mount is leveled good. If you align the polaris only with the mount is best to check after you place all the equipment that is in the same spot in polar finder. Also make sure that your finderscope is align with the telescope, and the first star alignment is good. there is also a function called PAE that can improve the goto accuracy. Also you should try 3 stars alignment for best performance. I had no problems of polaris drifting , it does move in the circle of the reticle though since the position changes depending on time. Polar alignment must be good also. I have also a tutorial on polar alignment here: ua-cam.com/video/qUETWmjDjw4/v-deo.html

Regarding the lens is nice to ahve the ability to change the focal length but a telescope will give you better results, a dedicated camera cooled is totaly worth it, will save you a lot of time, but you can start also with a dslr and upgrade alter to a cooled camera. • @GalaxyArtMedia
      @GalaxyArtMedia  4 роки тому +2

      Hello, I bought it from Romania, i also started recently to have collaborations with affiliate programs, and i do have linked at the moment the mount and telescope from Opt. You should calculate the weight of your telescope and equipment to not be over 6.5 or 7kg for astrophotography or 10 kg for visual with the Eqm35 pro GoTo mount. I think is better to start with an ED Apo refractor if you do not want to use the telescope more for planetary imaging, as i mentioned in the video ease of use, low maintenance, low weight, (this means it does not need a more expensive mount, that you would need for a heavy telescope) also better image contrast, good quality image and sharp, and the chromatic aberration will be low on a telescope like Ed80 so it will not be a problem. Using a reducer corrector you should have a focal length of 510mm at f6.3 instead of 600mm at f7.5 very good for most of the Dso in the sky especially nebulas, a better field of view that you would have with the Newton Skywatcher 150/750 PDS.

You can start without a laptop if you do not have one, but for more control over you astrophotography you will need to use also astrophotography programs that requires laptop/tablet/phone. You can take long exposures just using your camera and a tripod,(without mount you will be limited to shorter exposures until you will have star trails) or the equatorial mount, you can also use an intervalometer.The quiding camera is a different item that does not come with the mount you must buy it separately, when i bought my Eqm35pro and my Ed80/600 telescope i did not had money to but also the camera, so i bought the guiding scope and camera later, after 4 months, this will help you to get longer exposures that you can get using just the mount. I bought zwo120MM-s camera and is very good for guiding and also for planetary imaging but you will need for the camera a laptop or other equipment to connect the camera and use it. A dslr camera you can use it even if you do not connect at the laptop, but if you buy an astrophotography camera then you will need also a way to connect it, and see the images, since it does not have a liveview screen.

      Hello. I align using phone app. I use Polar finder ( Free application) and Polar Align Pro. Most of the times i worked with Polar finder app. I am just editing a new video for polar alignment with the Eqm35 Pro, so soon you will be able to see it ! The laptop i use for my astrophotography plan With Apt So i can set the exposure time, how many images to take, iso, to see in live view on the screen and to use Phd2 for guiding and dithering. In this review i did not use autoguiding just the sidereal rate of the mount, and you can do this even without a laptop.But using a laptop will give you much more possibilities and ease of use. There is also other options like Zwo ASIAIR that will give you control on your Smartphone. Here is a 4k video that i made with the Orion Nebula: ua-cam.com/video/oE_bsIIg91c/v-deo.html

      @@gdlambert9736 you can, but as i said it will be harder without a laptop. You will still need an intervalometer to be able to take long exposure sequence, like you do when you make timelapses. I have intervalometer on my Nikon D7200, but some cameras do not have and you might need an intervalometer remote. And without laptop will be harder to check the exposures of your astrophotography plan when the camera is setted to take a number of images with the intervalometer. But if you will want to have more control ease of use and longer exposures than you will need autoguider and laptop, or Zwo ASI AIR. However with single exposures should be easy even without a laptop.

    • @GalaxyArtMedia
      @GalaxyArtMedia  4 роки тому +2

      @@gdlambert9736 Is very good for beginners, every astrophotography mount will look complicated at first but with so many tutorials on youtube not hard to start and learn how to use. If you want to use a telescope like the ed80 this setup should be ok also is more budget friendly and it has goto that helps you to find targets in the night sky, other option are the light star tracker more for astrophotography with light equipment dslr and lenses, more fragile than this mount and they do not have goto and they do not handle so much weight like eqm35pro. Or are other mounts more expensive and heavier that are usually bought for heavier telescopes like heq5. The heq5 is more solid. Heq35pro has also a light mode that you can use for Milky Way astrophotography that i use more when i travel and i take images with my camera and lens. I started with this setup in 2019 with Eqm35pro and Ed 80/600 from Skywatcher and i was happy with the performance. And starting astrophotography will require some patience some time to learn how to use the equipment how to image. I suggest you watch also youtube tutorials, i do have some videos on this setup and soon i will upload more, currently editing. Another thing helps to study also the manual of the mount even if it takes more than the tutorials on youtube.

      Salut. Am avut si Ioptron Skyguider Pro, dar pot am returnat montura și am cumparat Eqm 35 pro. Este alta categorie, si in acest sens si mai performanta. clar e mai buna pentru deep sky objects decat startrack urile pentru dslr. O montura pentru dslr , are in schimb avantajul sa fie mai ușoară si este mai ușor de calatorit cu ea. Montura Eqm35 Pro Goto mai are nevoie si de sursa de curent. Am cumparat un powerbank de 40.800 mah care are și ieșiri usb și 3 ieșiri DC și da si curent alternativ, poate alimenta și un laptop. Primele luni am fotografiat fără filtre în oraș sub cer cu scara bortle 4/5 sau în zone cu cer întunecat cu rezultate bune. Filtrele ajuta mult pentru a elimina poluarea luminoasa, pentru a obține contrast mai bun, precum mai multe detalii și culoare în nebuloase, exista adaptoare inele step up sau step down, cred ca se numesc, pentru filtre la obiective foto, eu am cumparat unul recent , urmeaza sa il probez. Eu am început fără filtre și am cumparat treptat. Primul a fost un filtru mai general pentru poluare luminoasa și creșterea contrastului, Uhc-s Nebula filter de la Baader. il recomand. Folosirea filtrelor duce și la nevoia de expuneri mai lungi in special H-alpha, aici vine necesitatea și de un autoguider. Fără autoguider la o distanta focala de 600mm timpul de expunere nu va fi asa mare pana la startrails, maxim am reușit 2 minute cu ed80/600mm si media a fost in jur de 1 minut timp de expunere cu stele rotunde.
      Conteaza mult si alinierea la steaua polara. Cu autoguider am avut și planuri de 10 minute pentru fiecare expunere, cu stele rotunde fara star trails.

    • @GalaxyArtMedia
      @GalaxyArtMedia  4 роки тому +2

      Hello.If you buy a mount like the Sky-Watcher Eqm35 pro, the mount will track the motion of the stars. you will have available sidereal tracking,(for stars and planets) lunar tracking for the moon and solar tracking for the sun. Autoguiding it is an upgrade basically you use a guide scope and a small camera and software to fix on the position of a star and to correct any errors in tracking, so you will be able to take longer exposures than with the normal tracking of the mount without having star trails. I used the mount for 4 months without autoguider and i took most of the time exposures of 1 min with skywatcher ed80/600 . I was able to go up to 2 min at 600mm focal length without star trails, and a rough polar alignment.but in general without an autoguider i went with 1 min exposures, with shorter focal length you can go more.
