I remember The Bluffers on Channel 4 in the early 90s, being shown really early on a Sunday morning. I remember the titles and theme music the most, especially the globe and space background
i told my parents that i remembered an old cartoon i watched when i was young and all i could remember was that there were yellow bricks covering everything. THANK YOU for having this video to prove im not insane. XD
Something that might interest fans, I was recently in a discord chat about the show and someone who was involved in production (in a junior capacity) was there, they've also worked on the Dreamstone and a couple of small '90s toons. And they were adamant that while there was nothing 100% decided for what the secret was, the primary and most likely idea being floated around among the writers and production was that the secret was going to be a giant mirror with a golden frame. It's also in what was the great hall of the "original" castle, which is locked behind a load of doors. According to them the message was to be that those who are greedy in their hearts, such as Clandestino, might end up with everything. But when the Bluffers eventually find it they would realise that some fabled, magical mystical item isn't going to fix all their problems for them, but instead they've always had the power within themselves to overthrow him and take back Bluffoonia.
"I did a little research and it turns out you're right. They sounded very similar when I was little but now I can tell it is the guy who played Simon Barsinister." The voice actor for both is Allen Swift, so that part should be obvious.
I love how with children's shows you don't need a back story that makes sense. Clandestino ravaged the home world of the Bulffers, Bluffonia, because he was afraid the Bluffers would get his secret of "getting it all".

I used to have an episode of The Bluffers on video accidentally recorded from the UK's Channel 4 back in the early 90s (my mum recorded Sesame Street for me, but accidentally left the tape recording until our Ferguson Videostar got to the end of the tape), but a few years later, thinking I didn't want to see this programme again as I'd grown out of it, I recorded over it. I wasn't an avid viewer and I am pretty sure I only ever saw this one episode. Fast forward to about 2008 and I was determined to find out what this cartoon was, as I remembered about 3 seconds, with this distinctive bear and blue squirrel. I gave up searching until I accidentally discovered it in some old Channel 4 material on UA-cam - complete with a C4-branded slide with the announcer saying the Bluffers was on next - the slide had a picture of the bear I remembered! My jaw dropped open! Instantly I looked up "The Bluffers" on UA-cam and found someone had uploaded the opening and closing titles - seeing those revived long dead, gone and buried memories! But none of the episodes on UA-cam (I think there were only two at the time) were what I remembered. Now, seeing your episode again, there are several scenes which ring strong bells but I definitely can't say I remember them outright - the bit at the beginning with Sillycone in the lab, at 2:08 where Clandestino gathers up all the model trees in his arms and a few others. So I do indeed think this is the episode I used to have on VHS and view on that prehistoric (top-loader!) 1979 Fergusion Videostar VCR and (contrasting with the VCR) a state-of-the-art NICAM stereo mid-80s Philips Matchline TV we had at the time (still got the VCR, by the way!) Thank you ever so much for uploading this - when my PC begins behaving I'll have to find time to watch the whole episode!
You missed out. I had home dinners and used to watch this (as well as Sesame Street). It was magical to watch as a 7 year old. Like you, I was also determined to find out what it was called and did a thorough search on the internet almost ten years ago now, mainly for the song.
I remember it being on early mornings. A search on the Guardian's Digital Archive (I have membership) says that Channel Four had several repeat runs of the series, all on varying days and times.
When I was a kid, I used to rent the videos from this series and at the time, I could have sworn Clandestino was voiced by the same guy who did Mr. Magoo. I don't know if that's true or not, but the similarities in voices is rather uncanny.

Wow, I never knew this! Thanks so much for the info! I think we had all wondered what the secret of getting it all was!
They would what?
I've not seen Bluffers since childhood.
I grew up in the united states... And for a while I thought I was the only person that remembered this... I had this on VHS.

EliteXtasy So it was shown at lunch time? That's what I remember. I only ever saw it if I was at home on an in service day or off sick.

I always thought it was the guy who did the voice for Dr. Simon Barsinister from the Underdog cartoons.
I remember that episode! I don't remember any other though... man I was wondering what this show was for years... 'The Bluffers' is a silly name XD
same, got it confused with Sonic SatAm until right now
Why does a robot need a surgical mask?
I loved this when I was a kid! But I gotta say whats up with 4:54? Kinda creeper mode.
At 4:50 An eagle who can't fly?
At 4:55 Are they making Googles?
4:54 O.o
