I saw them tonight for the first time in 10 years (10-ish…it’s a world of pain and who can remember exactly) and they are still one of the best and I have no clue how Patterson’s voice still works
They certainly still are one of the best bands on the planet, even after all these years. I just hate that in regards to their music, I’ve become “that guy” who tends to enjoy their earlier stuff, which in most cases was louder & more rocking, significantly more than their newer stuff. The “3 guitars & 3 big ol’ amps” incarnation of the band. But regardless of age, regardless of the members, & regardless of the sonic capacity of the song or the volume those amps are playing it at, they’ll always be legends. Despite almost 3 decades of existence - and even being asked to write an Op-ed for The New York Times, still somehow under recognized, underrated & under appreciated. Long live the Truckers🤘

I'm a fan of Cooley's songwriting for the most part... but that long monologue that Patterson delivers at the start of 18 Wheels of Love is one of the best stories that has ever been told.
I think this greatness comes from DBT creating material/art ,music that is born of a little deeper place. Hood, Cooley and certainly Isbell brought songs forward that are from a honest and deep place. They yank the cover off their hart and write and sing from the place they feel it the way they see it and construct it with total brilliance. We got lucky when these guys entered our field of view. This stuff pours my emotions into a blender and then sends them out the barrel of a cannon loaded for business. How awesome is that ride, every time! DBT music is the life stuff I am grateful for. Keep pouring it out and sending it. It's a short beautiful ride.
@@klimtklavier damm man thats to bad. To bad that Isbell isn't and to bad u feel that way now about something that was huge like cosmic big bang huge. I'd hate to have missed the music from Isbell with the truckers or Isbell since. Just think of the songs he wrote with the truckers ,from the start. Some of the best songs. What ever the reason for your negative opinion of Isbell, dude open your mind and ears. Let go the hatein try some lovein. Just listen, the world would be a better place if we really listened to the words of Jason Isbell with TBT or after. Really man !
Thus was the first show I ever watched from them I remember vary well watching this on the public TV station and I've been a fan since then still amazing music being made by them
I saw DBT in '08! I didn't know their names yet but there was definitely one girl in the group and I've grown to be a huge DBT fan! Really itching to see them now that I'm a serious fan!
@@bryanpace5248 She left in 2011. Started a band with Pegi Young (Neil Young's ex-wife). She also did a cooking show for a bit. But I'm not sure if she is still playing these days.
I certainly don't think his career suffered by being in DBT. I imagine the best thing to ever happen to Isbell was getting sober before substance abuse got more out of hand. He had a pretty decent run with it but hung it up at a relatively opportune time.
I dont like that junk either, but I still appreciate a lot of their music. Just remember, someone can create masterful beauty in the form of art and still be clueless pissants.
One of the best bands on the planet , ever.
Ya'll already know! 🤘🔥

No doubt !!!

I have to agree. Fucks sake DBT - come back to Brighton (England).
Heathens is such an underrated Truckers song. Amazing how these songs can still take me back to a place and time, 15 years later.
Jason Isbell is a big fan of Heathens.
Hell yeah, it brings back old memories like it's bottled in time. I feel that way about a lot of their catalog. Tons of hidden gems.
"She aint revved til the rods are thrown" I love that line

I approve of this performance.....
Drive By Truckers & Ryan Bingham live from Austin City Limits gave me two new favorites
I really like this line up ❤

One of the best bands of my life. This version of Zip City is so good.
Thank you to the algorithm for bringing me here because this session absolutely rips

Yeah, no Isbell on here and I sure as hell don't miss his presence.

Great, thank you ! love this band since their first album, keep on rockin', nice greetings from Berlin.
Shoutout to Shonna! I picked up amps for 4 shows for the class DBT.
They did it their way & it was beautiful.

I saw them at Westword Music Showcase in Denver! They headlined 🎸💥
Such an amazing band. Only sad I discovered them so late!
Narrative is classic Patterson. The fills - all around - awesome.
🎉 The best way to start off 2024🎉❤
Inspiration only comes through truth, fantasies be damned, real people speak to real people.
Love & Appreciate your work!
Such a shame this is no longer on iTunes!
Well shit it jams and tells such great stories
Obviously the TDS era lineup with Isbell is hard to beat but man I loved this era of DBT
I still miss John Neff
Killer set list
How many of y’all had a DVR full of ACL performances from this era?
Can you upload the full episode of Austin City Limits from January 31, 1998 that kicked off Season 23, featuring Junior Brown and Robbie Fulks?👍
I'm sorry but I don't have that video.
I got 350 heads on 305 engine.
Shonna’s better live than on the studio version.
Shonna was a huge part of the band. She is missed now, big ups!
What happened to her. I ised to follow these guys, but have been out of the loop for years. Kind of rediscovering.

@mr.jazzbodkelsey58
Wow. That makes me feel old. I sure did jam to that band back in the day though. Just got a little too dark.
Anyone know why Shonna Tucker left the band? She'd a great bass player and a killer singer.
Drug problem
Anybody have the time coded setlist
Best thing to ever happen to Isbell was getting booted from these guys, his career flourished since

You sure love hyperbole.
One my favorite bands of all time and I’m a long long time fan but when they started going woke I lost a lot of respect.
they were always woke. a big part of why they're so good.
Started? They are who they always have been. You just weren’t paying attention.
lol did you not listen to the lyrics?
I dont like that junk either, but I still appreciate a lot of their music. Just remember, someone can create masterful beauty in the form of art and still be clueless pissants.
WAKE UP I Think They Will Be Just Fine Without Your Respect. Dont Be SLEEPY Stay WOKE. Lmao.
