Thank you for putting together the detailed videos. Really great beta for my hikes. I just did Toll on Friday and it was amazing despite the crappy weather.
Always enjoy your videos brother. It was great to meet you in person on the Flattop Mountain Trail last week. Pretty cool that we crossed paths. Blessings to you!
Did you see two guys, one with a white bandana? That was Jamey and his friend. They did it today also. Mount Toll is a good one. Congrats on the summit!
This is an awesome hike.. I've put this on the list. The more I see of you and Barb hiking in the Indian Peaks Wilderness, the more I am thinking: This is the place to go. Probably much less traffic than RMNP.. Awesome views from the peaks. I am thinking we might just do Pawnee Peak.. not sure we are up for Shoshoni.. We are glad your knees are holding up!!! Thank you for inspiring us. We are counting down the days til Colorado.... Thank you always for sharing.. Your #1 Tennessee Fans, T& S.
From Mt Toll to Blue lake is an unmarked Trail. How difficult is that terrain to blue lake. And hopefully it will be passable the end of May. Looking to do about 16 -20 miles in 2 days may 21 -23. Plan is to go to that point and see how it looks then back track to Pawnee lake for the night, before heading back out.
Ive never dropped down from Toll to Blue Lake. Im sure its possible but I havent tried it. I did drop down onto Little Blue Lake and Blue Lake from Paiute Peak. Thats in the Paiute Peak vid.. I remember that well because I dropped 1st cam in Blue Lake and destroyed it. Doh!
@@ThaneR0248 It gets pretty gnarly back there. The snow might make it easier.. but if you can make it all the way back there then you can probably do it. Good luck!
@@nicksangetta8874 crazy question and i cant find an answer anywhere. I arrive after 9pm. Only gear i need is camp fuel! May not make it to walmart on time! Ive heaed the kum and go may sell it? Any recommendations for camp fuel after 9pm. Would love to hit the trail early and nothing seems open before 7.
From mt toll to blue lake is not a marked trail, have you done the off trial from the trail between pawnee and mt toll, to blue lake.. if so how is that terrain. I am looking to do about 15 miles come the end of May. will be my first time in Colorado. so hoping that unmarked pass is passable.
@@ThaneR0248 oh, didn't see your comment until now--class 2 from the pawnee-toll ridge and there are some uncomplicated slabs to negotiate, but doing it this time of year would mean lots of snow. the higher trailheads in Brainerd Lake area don't even open until July (and this year they have a timed entry permit system...)
As part of a spiritual practice I am asked to stay connected to the sacred Apus (mountains) but wasn’t really sure how to do that... Fast forward a few days, I am stumbling upon a two year comment you left on a ceremony music video. I felt the impulse to click on your channel- Boom, mountains everywhere! I guess I’ll be binging your videos now 🙌
Hey Nick-Absolutely beautiful hike, and you don't have to pay a big price in getting to the top! The views are just incredible all-around. Do you know if there can be any dispersed camping around any of the lakes on that hike by chance? By the way, we did a backpacking/overnight to one of your fave's, Sandbeach Lake, last weekend. Pretty cool...
Sorry for not seeing this comment. UA-cam just fixed my channel so I get notified for comments again.. but I dont know about camping. I have seen a few people up there but I always feel like they arent supposed to be.. but honestly I just dont know a lot about the camping rules.
Hey Nick: I have reviewed this video because I have looked at the maps (I like to plan my hikes way in advance!) and I wondered whether you can go from Pawnee Peak, down to the saddle between Pawnee Peak and Mt. Toll and make a way from the saddle down to Blue Lake so that you can make it a loop-hike? I tried to see if you had any video footage looking down from the saddle to Blue Lake but didn't see it. Let me know what you think?
I think you can. I dont know the route down from that side of Toll. I descended down from the Paiute-Toll saddle on other side.. I think you can hike across the front (east side) of Toll to get to the northern side where I was, but there may be an easier way straight down. Not sure.
Did the route today started at niwot up to Pawnee Pass and returned down to blue lake/Mitchell. On the way down I started in the Southwest of the saddle. Really steep at first but the steepness gives you a good vantage point to plan your route. Where the steep slope ends is where your route finding becomes harder Lots of huge flat rocks, talus and steep drops. I aimed for the inlet of blue lake and skirted the north shore back to the main trail. Challenging descent.
Hello Nick, I live near Colorado springs, and have done a bunch of the popular hikes around here. I plan on going hiking this Saturday but havent decided where. I'd be willing to drive a few hours for a really good hike, do you have any suggestions?
Thats a hard question. There are so many great hikes all over. Just depends on what you want to do. I always say Twin Sisters is one of the best bang for the buck hikes and its not too hard.
Great video Nick, I so appreciate all you do to bring these to us. Can you tell me what app you use(if any) to help you navigate and find and stay on the trail? Thanks.
No. I would not recommend spending the money unless you were going to reserve a bunch of day permits as well. Unfortunately, the days of randomly showing up with an annual pass and getting in are over.
That was AMAZING! I don't even need to get to the summit , I would just love going up the trail to see the amazing views! Looks like you have some spam in the comment below mine , Richard wants you to look at beautiful girls! hahaahah

It was great to meet you too! Hope you had a good hike on that windy but beautiful day. Should have that Otis/Flattop video up on Thursday.
@@nicksangetta8874 awesome! I just posted my Flattop attempt video. Gave you a shoutout and linked to you.
Absolutely beautiful! I can’t imagine it in real life as I know photos and video never do it real justice. I’m sure it’s breathtaking!
Just beautiful! Love your videos
Another awesome video! This is next on my list
Did it today! Took the Nick route out and the blue lake route back. Awesome day and I had the summit to myself.

Beautiful! Never ceases to please aesthetically, down there in the IPW!
I'm surprised you didn't loop it back via Blue lake. The slabby rocks down after dropping down from the saddle are pretty interesting
