In the manga, you actually see a snippet of her saying she went too far after the first meeting. Also, despite how she presented it, her comments were constructive, unlike her friends, who literally just made fun of him. She actually read and commented on his manga.
You guys should try the Blue Reflection Ray Anime and play the Blue Reflection game series. The main Vallian Reflector Shino Mizusaki has the same voice as Hayase Nagatoro in the Dub. Kimberly Anne Campbell.

nagatoro gets a pretty big character development in manga, turning her into a better character than she once was. not everyone starts off a saint, and not everyone stays a demon

I thought she would just be toying with him, but she pokes fun at him to the point of tormenting, and then apologizes after he seems to have reached his limit. The only bright side is that it appears the MC likes being treated like this, but that may also be because he finds her attractive.
I love the moments when nagatoro unintentionally shows her true feelings and doesn't try to look smart by playing around, it shows that she's not perfect like Senpai either. The interesting thing about these two people is that Nagotoro is great at pretending but she is very noob at expressing her feelings, while Hachioji is terrible at hiding his feelings, but he is more honest than Nagotoro in expressing his feelings and does not try to lie.
