Les , this was as still is my favorite episode of survivorman. When it aired I so fell in love with the scenery you filmed I fought my fear of flying and made the trip to see for myself. I slipped and fell in glacial runoff and froze my feet. I licked a glacier. I fished along the Russian river and had to quit when the bears showed up. I saw the midnight twilight at Denali during the summer solstice. I’m hoping to make the trip again but my fear of flying has only increased. I’m considering making the drive along the Alaska-Canada highway or through the Stewart-Cassiar. I just need to save up a bit and take some time off work. Thanks for posting your episodes.

Is there a fire piston you'd recommend? Seems like a nifty little tool, but I don't remember seeing you use it in any other videos. Which tells me it's either too easy, and therefore not entertaining enough to use on camera, or it's not as good a product as what it seems in this video.

The Malay fire piston is an ancient fire starting tool used in the rainforests of SEAsia. A bowdrill would be fine in arid areas.
