I just bought your book. It is helpful to someone like me was misdiagnosed by my GP who referred me to a chain of specialists such as cardiologist, pneumonlogist and even psychologist but still couldnt work out the root cause of the issue.
During your years helping patients with Hiatus hernia, have you noticed if people with a slimmer upper body physique are more likely to suffer symptoms such as Heart palpitations / arrhythmias / breathlessness / panic attacks etc? I sometimes wonder if having a naturally slimmer chest cavity could maybe exacerbate these symptoms and if sufferers are maybe more likely to actually feel them, because their Heart and Lungs are more "compromised" by the rising Stomach? I know that even a mild form of the skeletal abnormality Pectus excavatum can negatively impact the function of the Heart & Lungs. So could Hiatal hernia symptoms also be worse in slimmer people, even if hiatus hernia itself is more likely to develop in larger individuals? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.
I have had these symptoms-GERD which I have been taking PPIs for about 4 years. Recent neck pain with lightheadness for which I’ve been going to PT for. Bloating , poor sleep, and now with palpitations which are frequent and unsettling. I have been to ENT everything fine, Cardiologist who monitored my heart. No results yet. He was not worried since I had a good report from annual tests last April. I’m so frustrated going to doctors. I will say I have a small hiatal hernia diagnosed 3 years ago. No suggestions except to lose weight.Have you seen patients that have lightheadness as a symptom?
