I think its great that you are breeding pure bred Clydesdales. They need all the help they can get and are terrific horses!
I'd like to know Beauty's registered name. You may have mentioned it but, I think we are more familiar with Luna's supposed formal name ( which as you pointed out, may not be correct) as her teeth suggest she is much older than her supposed paperwork. 😮
Any horse can end up in slaughter. Even high priced papered horses, pregnant horses, and baby foals. I had a papered Peppy San Badger mare off the King ranch here in Texas that I sold to someone “I thought I could trust, that sold her to a meat truck. I found out too late to save her. So don’t kid yourself that it’s only broke down horses in the slaughter pipeline. To me, papers don’t make the horse. Breeding and training make the horse. You can have the best papered horse around and they turn out to be dangerous.
@@deedeeemptthe thoroughbred race horse, and Kentucky Derby winner Ferdinand, ended up at slaughter and was not saved. So horrible.

Negative people leave negative comments. I love the videos you post where you talk about the horses, your homestead, and your family. I don't want to hear about the complaints and the negativity. I agree with you 💯 I almost spoke up and would have seriously slammed a few people verbally because I hate negativity, but on the other hand, I’m not one for fueling the fire of their “know it all remarks.” I just happen to love this family and their horses, so I go looking to see if they have posted any new video’s. Like many others, I pray for them and my thing is to remain positive because, they care about all their animals. I believe they are more than over comers thru God’s love and so are their beautiful Clydesdale’s. I am sick and tired of the know it all gossipers who never speak anything, but doom and gloom. God isn’t limited by their opinions but he has used this family to nurture, heal, love and bless what are God’s precious animals. Negative Nellie’s are not in control and Never will be ! ❤ this Family !

Shire horses are endangered as well and Suffolk Punches are critically endangered. My great grandfather was a farm labourer in the UK and worked with Suffolk Punches, it's really sad. 🙁
@@deedee3530 Only 5% are black. It is not an incorrct color, I think either due to the popularity of the Budweiser horses color, or due to genetics, the black and gray, white and sabino colors are rarely seen.

@sassytbc7923 Let's think of Oliver as the largest, most devoted "dog" you will ever own. He adores you and is as affectionate as a number of breeds. I do think he would follow you and do almost anything for you. He even left his "wife" to trot along BESIDE your side, while you sat in the 4 by 4. That is devotion, since you said, she is still "in heat".
I just love these horses together. And they are so fortunate to have found a wonderful farm to live on.

When I see how alert, lively, and interested in her new surroundings that Blue Moon is----I am just so grateful you took her on! It would be SO SAD to put her down for a bad foot infection when it's obvious she's wanting to be alive and involved right now. God Bless you folks! I love all that you're doing---which is A LOT! lol!
Be prepared, though. She could very easily still need to put down. Just because they took her doesn’t mean it’s going to have a good outcome (not saying they won’t be doing the best they can for her, just saying even the best efforts can still fail)
@@oldageisdumb she's improved some already and last resort is an operation which hopefully we will fund . They are going all the way with her .
@bonsaidouglas9180 Right, but it is best, that people know how serious foot issues can be. And the older the horse, the harder it may be to get them to heal. Younger people and horzes heal faster than oldies. Sometimes, infections that seem minor, can do in seniors. And the treatmeat for canker can be stiill be expensive and is very time consuming, if they go the slow (non surgical) route due to all the treating and wrapping of each affected foot. 🎉
@@bonsaidouglas9180 Yes, but again, you make it sound like it’s a sure thing she will be ok. It’s not a sure thing, at all, even with surgery. We all hope it will be, but I don’t want you to get caught up in the idea of the great part of rescue and forget about the harsh reality.

I love Clydesdales! I had no idea they were so few in number. You have rescued these majestic horses from certain misery and death. You are doing an awesome job with all of your horses. All are wonderful, but the Clydesdales have truly captured my heart. The moment you sought after Oliver, I was hooked. The new older girl, Luna may come around as she begins to feel real love and kindness. Sounds like she was used as a tool and never treated with love. I’ve heard stories of other breeders who had horses similar to her, and after treating them with patience, kindness and love for many months, they came around. I truly feel that Luna will be a loving girl, and will give love in return if given a chance. God bless you dear fam🙏🏻🥰

They got her to save her . The previous owner was considering euthanasia because of the difficulty.
Clydesdales eat tons and it's unfair to expect them to keep her if they can get her health okay and find her a good home.

I'd be interested in seeing Luna bond with Emory. I've noticed Emory's concerted efforts to reassure Luna at times. It would be great to see a friendship develop between the two, especially since Luna may not have received human affection as a young horse.

Luna is cautious, and that's probably telling you something about her early life. She comes up to you when you're not looking, so she's testing and looking for love and attention. She's just not sure yet. Hopefully, with your consistent and loving care, her trust will grow.
My Welsh cob would come up and hide behind me ,she was scared and shut down,thas was 3 years ago ,now she's amazingly happy ❤
I love how Oliver and Beauty can't stop nuzzling each other when tied to the 4wheeler, they are like a lovey-dovey couple who dote on each other all the time. ❤
I had no idea there were so few Clydesdales left. I knew the black ones were rare, but not the whole breed. Good on ya for helping to restore them.

@sarahbeecham7164 To me, they are like a large affectionate dog who likes to work and isceasy to train, but is very people oriented. A Golden Retriever personality,....but in a Great Dane body.
When they ran together at the end, I could see that after about 10 seconds, they syncronized their strides to match. Beautiful stories.

All the Clydesdale horses are beautiful, they all have great personalities in some ways. Oliver will always be my favourite, he’s such a handsome boy. Nattie is a sweetie. Luna was so anxious when she arrived, it wouldn't surprise me if someone hadn't been so nice to her. Her colour is beautiful. What you are doing is a beautiful thing. She is my favourite hopefully she gets a friend.
She is a hidden treasure. She'll surprise everyone and change everything for the best. Kindness and generosity will be rewarded.
If she is able to breed then she is younger, otherwise she is a great teacher for the youngsters for work ethic. Luna please keep her & love her.

So great to have a horse, Beauty, for offspring but also a great team mate with Oliver. Can't wait to see them pulling a cart or buggy! Of course the real pairing will be Nattie and Oliver when it comes to higher quality Clysdales. I know it will be some time but looking forward to what that combination produces!!

I hope your plan for Nattie doesn't change because of Beauty breeding with Oliver . Nattie is such a beautiful horse ,and the way you got her makes me think there might have been some Devine intervention leading her to your farm.
They have said it will not change. If she remains smaller than planned she will be able to breed with Oliver making it two mares for him. Like you said Devine Intervention, I believe that as well and the plan with the Devine intervention may keep her the exact size she needs to be for Oliver. AND, if she contains to stay on the smaller side, a great hitch as well. They may have a 4 team before it is over :) and I am going to just toss that out into the universe and let it manifest lol
Your channel brings a nice homey peace to my soul. I definitely miss living in the country and working with dogs and horses. Your living the good life! Guess I can benefit because I dont have to do the unpleasant part of the labor and I can sit back and watch the beautiful creatures the good Lord gave us. Thanks for sharing! I love any draft horse but Oliver has claimed my heart. I applaud you for doing the lineage research so you know your breeding quality. I am hoping for a black roan as you probably know there are so few left in the world.
When you were describing Luna's behavior, it reminded me of years ago when I adopted my dog, already fully grown. He was headshy and nervous with certain movements that I made towards him as well as certain objects that I might be holding, such as the TV remote. I honestly think his previous owners would hit him with their hands and objects on his head and body. He would flinch when I reached over to rub his head. I firmly believe that whoever owned him before me abused him. I worked with him to gain his trust and after 13 years, I see none of that behavior in him and have not for years. I hope that Luna can learn to receive your affection and love and trust yall.

Sounds like Luna might have been badly treated in the past. The snorting after being weighed was happy not aggressive. If you reassure her and be loving towards her, she'll realise she's in a good place with good people. I bet she'll come around after a while.❤

Thank you for trying to enhance the Clydesdale breed and indeed they are endangered. They come from around the Clyde area, in Scotland, where I am from, and I remember seeing them working on the farms. I love seeing them in such a wonderful home.

As for Luna's personality: Methinks she might have been a workhorse, mostly, and is simply not used to people doting at her. If she gets used to that a little better, she might even come to appreciate it eventually. :)
We used Clydesdales in our vintards in South Africa when I was in my late teens & they were a gr8 asset. We didna make an end 2 their duties even when everything went mechanical. Their uses in the vinyards were júst 2 valuable!! They were placid enough that I, as an 8-year-old vould handle them in the vinyards!! Talking of Gentle Giants!!!
Luna's attitude of "stand offishness" does not surprise me. Clydesdales r normally friendly - as Oliver has shown - but there is always (like any other breed of horse) an exception on the norm. lovely tempered
Hope she has "taken" cos 2 have a little Clydesdale foal 2 raise with y're patience & good practices should b fun - not only 4 your family, but 4 us channel viewers. I, 4 1, is very much looking 4ward 2 it!!!
Having followed Oliver's story with you, I would say that he was a rescue. If not for you, he would be one of the statistics. I know the Clydesdales have been more threatened in the past, because the need for pure draft horses to actually do the work has lessened over the last century.
You do good work and your love for the horses is plainly evident in your videos.

My heart goes out to her because from my very uninformed opinion she appears to have been taken advantage of, or abused. I know you will love her. I pray for her healing, and I hope that you can find her registration and perhaps use her in your future program.

This morning I was at the Lanark and area Clydesdale foal show! It is wonderful to see this beautiful breed being nurtured and kept for future generations to enjoy. Will be off again in around 3 weeks to see the Champions show and get to see the older horses, can't wait. You keep breeding, I don't think a horse could have a much better start in life than to be with you. I know Luna is old, but I don't believe that rag that you can't teach old dogs or old horses new tricks. She may come around over time, if you show her affection and love. ❤ I am not sure she has ever had anything but a hard work life.
And of course... A lady NEVER tells her age. She's probably never been shown affection, " just a work horse" which, to my mind is a form of abuse. Don't pay attention to the people who can't do anything but rag on everything. No worth listening too, I got the same when I bred German Shepherds. ❤❤Blessings to all, two and four legged.

This horse makes me think about when I was a child. I did not have a bond with my mother so I was similar to this horse in being standoffish but in my heart I longed for the closeness. God has helped me tremendously over the years to trust and bond with others.

I think it’s very important that responsible people keep pure bread breeds going. They r important even in dogs. It helps make predictable breeds available for people to choose from for their own. Each breed has its own importance and Nitch in our life. Without options there importance would be greatly reduced. And we would suffer for it. ❤
