I cannot interpret Chinese poetry. I found myself to be a fool by misunderstanding the Chinese poem about happy yellow birds chirping in a willow tree. It actually meant that loviscious girls are happy in the brothel. Hence I have understood that Chinese characters are not what you see. Therefore I am asking to interpret the true meaning of the hydrangeas flowers. For me, raised in the European culture, it means vanity and prideful behavior. Or one who is misunderstood and lonely but behaves as a perfect gentleman. For example like Stephen wolf hiding his animal soul in outward appearance of the charming man, sociopath. Please enlighten 😊
Thank you for your message. You're right, there are objects in Chinese culture that represent special meanings, but sometimes we don't have to interpret them deliberately. For example, a flower, its delicate, fragrant and beautiful to bring you joy and beauty is enough. Of course hydrangea has a symbolic meaning in Chinese culture. Hydrangea is a kind of lucky tokens and craft toys widely spread in ancient Chinese folklore, mainly made of colourful embroidery threads, ribbons, satin brocade cloth and other textile products, often used in celebrating festivals and joyous events, and its shape is often used in folk activities (dragon dance, lion dance), sculpture (lion rolling embroidered balls) and paintings, with the symbolism of auspicious and festive, and good things one after another. The hydrangea is also used as a symbol of good luck and good fortune. Derived from the handmade hydrangea to the hydrangea flower, it has a plump, rounded shape, like a perfect sphere, thus signifying reunion and beauty. In traditional Chinese culture, the round shape represents completeness and reunion, so the gift of hydrangeas also symbolises the recipient's family and reunion. The hydrangea is regarded as a symbol of good fortune, beauty and happiness. It is often used to decorate wedding occasions, signifying love and happiness between the newlyweds. Hydrangeas are also given the symbols of prosperity, wealth and longevity.
