how much korg?
KORG sounds better and distinguishable on PA system but YAMAHA sounds more reverb like muddy and merged tones though it is good on its own speakers. Yes we can tweak sounds and styles on both keyboards but it is not an easy task. The funniest part is most of the customers use less than 20% of capabilities of these keyboards. KORG wins over YAMAHA in many aspects like joystick, touch screen, drum tuning, programming ... but I would say Yamaha is more user friendly !!!!

Korg does sound good and convincing. But the Yamaha sounds more lively and more realistic My vote is for the Yamaha

Ja tez mam Yamahe (Tyros4) i niewiem czy jak bym mial kupowac ponownie czy niekupil bym S 950. Na tym filmie to chyba jak dla mnie wygrywa nieznacznie Korg. Widzialem na innym filmie jak brzmi S 950 i powalilo mnie brzienie jej perkusji (mysle ze nawet lepsze od Tyrosa 4) a tu jakos tak troche ,,lekko sztucznie,, moze to wszystko zalezy od nagrania i od odsluchu?
By my own experience, i own both and i can tell i like better how korg's styles sound more natural it sounds warmer than s950...but Yamaha wins on quality-feel and on professionally styles construction and way smoother transactions between fill ins, intros, variations, endings...both are just amazing..

+Ananthu Krishnan yamaha s models seem stuck in the past with using buttons on everything. Pa900 has an amazing touch screen and easy to use. The Yamaha is harder to figure out.

Well Korg has a sharper voice. Its good but what I feel is that when you are working on a track on a keyboard, you will prefer a little more dynamic voice and some soothing styles which add up to whatever you create. Yamaha will definitely have a greater impact on the listener. Plus, the the in-built speakers of the S950 are mind blowing. Their bass output is extra-ordinary.
So I would definitely go with Yamaha. But yes will have to say, in some aspects, Korg sounds great. (Like the orchestral tutti)

have used yamaha for years and loved it.. but undoubtedly Korg sounds more realistic.. close your eyes, and u feel like listening to real orchestra.... yamaha on the other hand, so sharp sounds and it will feel definitely that its an electronic sound...
I've always loved and preferred Yamaha equipment. I own a Tyros 1 as well as a LOT of other Yamaha stuff. I just ordered the Korg PA900 :-) Touch screen, deep editing, superior (to my ears) sound quality, the Korg just seems to offer so much more control over so many of the parameters.
PA900 the best !! especially as it's got a big touch screen !!

I would like to ask one subjective question... Which did the keyboardist prefer playing? I'm in two minds as to which one to buy and things like keyboard key action/feel are important to me as well as sound. Which one gave the most pleasure whilst playing. Hence it being a subjective question...

Something about psr s 950 is that it looks way more good than the s 970..
First time seeing this video, I thought let me choose not to see which keyboard is getting played first and the other one second - so I don't know the order or which one is getting played. I close my eyes as I open this video link, scroll the page down as much as possible so the video pane goes out of sight and as the playing starts, I rate the keyboards.
The first keyboard wins 6-1 for me... losing one in the part played towards the end.

У меня просто волосы дыбом встают, когда без каких-либо комментариев отдают предпочтение Ямахе! Я согласен с одним из уже имеющихся комментариев к данному ролику. Ямаха - лидер однозначный по СТИЛЯМ, но в плане тембров - КОРГ - без вариантов....Яма на фооне него имеет очень синтетический "привкус"!
ВООТ! И я о том же.Мне очень нравятся Ямахи,а к Коргам относился прохладно,НО тут!!! Просто надо не верить своим ушам,что бы утверждать,что 950ая звучит лучше.У музыканта же есть слух!Или это люди с извращённым вкусом?
корг ужасен именно своим грязным звуком... у ямахе звуки не синтетичексий а идеально обработанные и подчищенные... в студиях мирового уровня... а корг оставляет легкую грязь... именно это и даёт так называемый эффект живости... у ямахи все звучит БЕЗУПРЕЧНО... как будто это абсолютный эталон интьсрумента... отсюда и такое впечатление... все упирается в технологии сэмплирования! однозначно ЯМАХА! только ямаха!

When talking about style designing, korg rules. on the other hand, yamaha's styles are a way more dominant and "supporting" the performer better; what increases the effect of "real playing band" (great drums and bass backing). wish the'll co-operate one day :-)
I Buy Yamaha PSR s950. The difference is clearly enough when I play 2 different keyboards (of course with my ears hahahaha. Instead I play Korg PA 600 because the sounds/styles are same as Korg PA 900). In Korg PA 600/900, the style sounds are not louder/busier with each variations/fill-in(s) as the PSR s950 does. I prefer Yamaha PSR s950 for myself, and also the audio style technology comes real in drum/percussion.
YAMAHA is the best because it has realistic sound and that is most important if you want to play an instrument. YAMAHA
Best to do what I did & buy both... to tide me over until the Tyros 6!

Is the clip a recording of the keyboard actual speakers or were the output jacks used? The Yamaha sounds "clearer" but the Korgs instrument sounds were far better. The styles from both were typical of arranger type keyboards. They all begin to sound like muszak after 2 minutes even the Tyros and PA3x.

Just curious.. All those that says the Yamaha sounds better...... Must not be listening with headphones? Because the korg won in every example.. I mean take a close listen at that last track.. Ummm.. that harmonica on the korg...sweet. Even the guy playing played that last song a lot longer on the korg..than on the yammy...he was feeling it......it just sounded real.. I m sorry.. The korg has soul.

Definitely Korg wins. Yamaha sounds so plain and no emotion whatsoever. Korg pa900 is the winner in every department.
AlbostyleG you really need to listen to the real acoustic instruments, and you will notice that the Yamaha sounds like the real thing.
Yamaha Definitely sounds more realistic in this video and I made sure and cleaned my ears before I watched the video...heehee
I'm Yamaha, but I think that this Korg sounded more natural, realistic.
Если в тест вместо кантри/блюзовых стилей включить танцевальное (Dance) направление, то ситуация может сильно поменяться. Причём не в пользу Корга.
А может и нет ((( только за счёт пакета расширения стилей и звуков. Когда-то PSR 500 была прорывом вперёд в стилях, потом PSR 740 и PSR 3000. А теперь как-то слабовато с этим у Ямах.(((

У 950-ой с танцевальными стилями всё хорошо (особенно с Euro-dance pack). Также всегда доступна огромная библиотека дополнительных стилей на Psrtutorial

I would not call the speakers Korg Pa900 crap. They sound great. Well, who's stopping you ready compositions made on this instrument, listen to the best speaker system designed for this. If the tool is used to performing on stage, you have to take the sound from the line out to the respective speakers. A built-in speakers are needed for home use. By the way, Yamaha Amplifier 2x15 Watts. while the Korg - 2x20 Watts. Speakers both comparable quality.
As for the video - Korg Pa900 is the best!

Yamaha has a steel strings egg slicer, but I like the acoustic piano more.
At Korg I prefer the electric piano.

Both teams ... spectacular ... I like the Korg Pa 900 , compared to the Yamaha , but the Yamaha , in mine case in Colombia has representatives ... and the prices are accequibles , opposite the Korg , which has a difference of nearly a million pesos.
Korg Pa 900 , includes more tools like TC HELICON technology, which is an amazing help for us who sometimes we have to do solo performances ... of course requires more management Korg operating system , whereas the Yamaha , by having your keys in view management is easier and faster .
Korg Gentlemen , lower prices ... and in the case for Colombia ... and the countries of Latin America , do more precencia ... blessings to all .

Thanks for the comparison.How do find the keys on them.keys on yamaha are sub standard in terms of feel.I am sure the keys on korg are semi weighted and feel good. What is your opinion and also in US the street price of both of them are $1899 however in Australia the Korg is more expensive than yamaha not sure why. I am planning to buy one of them and was confused.I guess the overall sounds on yamaha sound better because of excellent inbuilt amp and speakers. The speakers on Korg Pa900 are crap

The screen on the Korg PA900 is far far better than on the Yamaha S950, on the Yamaha one you can not see the tabs across the top in a normal sitting position. I agree the piano is better on the Yamaha though.

I just don't see how anyone can be so sure how one is better than the other. It might be helpful to hear just bare sounds, one at a time on both instruments. The Yamaha, based on this video sounds a little brighter in tone. Could be the speakers, who knows. I think this is too close to call - and may really be more a matter of personal preference. I wish I had either of them.

I like the korg brand and build better but I have to admit yamaha have better acoustic sounds, hate to admit it ..though some korg sounds are good but I have x5d korg and korg m1 and the piano sucks for playing souls ..for playing Latin it has good piano. If I am gonna by I will go for s770. korg is out of the picture. I looked for korg pa4x en Kronos but the sound quality is not that what I expected.

Yamaha came out with the newer VH2 on the S950 which I have had since 2013. I use several vocal setups that I have created and use. You can check out my set up here on UA-cam if you would like to hear some examples.
You are right. Just close your eyes, and the Yamaha is noticeably thinner than the Korg.
KORG is more balanced and focused. But strings is Yamaha's strength.

Korg Pa900 is better than Psr 950,I have Tyros 4 and Korg pa900 and I thing the sounds from Korg is much more realistic,Korg Pa900 has much more better mic soudns. Yamaha psr 950 is good but can be layered only 2 voices,korg 3 voices so the Korg is better.

Yamaha реалистичнее? - Вы о чём? В гитарах она вообще не похожа. Именно в этом видео Korg побеждает по звуку (исключая рояль, которым ни один Korg похвастаться не может). Продал Korg, купил Yamaha - молодец, легче работать будет, ну а гитарные партии на настоящей гитаре сыграешь. Честно сказать я не верю этому видео, инструменты явно по разному настроены по частотам.
In the Yamaha he did use one of the worst unplugged guitar sound.. so what we got is Korg sounding good in the unplugged guitar compared to Yamaha ... But the reality is that Yamaha beats Korg as it is 200% more realistic than Korg.

Konigsberg39 а корж - детская погремушка с кнопками от дешевого калькулятора. Черная плита смотрится очень даже солидно! Как современный самолет или космический корабль.

korg aways rules !! more innovative, more realistic dnc sounds. Perfect for a one man band.. !! Korgs are the best in arrangers and workstations. Yamaha leads in synths and digital pianos..
Pity to say that you seem to be the only deaf guy fomr here. Yamaha has the most realistic sounds because they are taken from the legendary Tyros 4. Just because in this demo Yamaha was less used and got simpler demos and styles it doesn't mean it isn't better than Korg. It is. Everybody knows that. At sound realism, Yamaha always was at the forefront and it still remains the king. At least did you hear Korg's piano+strings? Synthesized sound and too crisp. The rest is the same.
Ребятки,читая ваши коментарии,кроме BurjTatar,и я хочу продолжить скорее его точку зрения!Складывается впечатление,что вы совершенно далеки и не знаете о технологиях сэмплирования ничего,а именно то,что у Корга они не совершенны абсолютно,учитывая тот факт,сколько гигабайт потрачено на бесполезное Пиано,которое не впечатлило меня совершенно,как и гитары! Что касается барабанов,тяжёлый случай... И как можно говорить далее о превосходстве Корга над Ямахой мне не понятно!
Барабаны супер в YAMAHA MOX6, и наполовину дешевле...
