makes a ton of sense though, not bringing the more expensive model on the road all the time. i think he mentioned in an interview that in terms of sound and playability the SE is on par with the signature model
first time i've them live and they where the best band of the weekend. hands down. Spencer's voice live is fucking insane, musicianship was impeccable. They need to be on the main stage next year!!!
Previously they had Jeff Holcomb play bass when Nolly couldn't make it, so he's probably a good contender for being touring bassist. They'd have to get someone else to do their lightshows, though.
Whats wrong with backing bass tracks? Its pretty standard for bands to track stuff live now because bands don't make enough money on tour to pay another guy just to play shows.
They already track synths live, why shouldn't they track bass? Unless you're argument is they should hire a keyboard player just for shows too. Which would be unbelievably stupid.
Well that argument doesn't really hold up as you need to draw the line somewhere. With that attitude you could also say "why shouldn't they track guitar?", "why shouldn't they track drums?". I agree with the OP that they should try to get a bassist ASAP because it does seem quite lame not having a live bassist. The synths are more understandable to have tracked because they are a much less significant part of the mix (e.g. if they didn't have the synth tracks then they could still sound good).
I get what you mean, but I would say that is jumping to the wildest of conclusions. No band would go as far as to backtrack drums or guitar live. Yes, bass is significant part of the mix. However Periphery is not the only band of their kind backtracking bass live. Animals As Leaders has been doing that for years along with synths and additional instruments, but no one would make the case that they'd ever backtrack main guitar parts or replace Gartska with a drum machine in a live setting. I think that's absurd. I feel Nolly would eventually come back to doing live shows with Periphery. As he is still a confirmed studio member. They are making the best of their situation by doing this. They likely do not have the money to pay another member to do bass live. They run on a skeleton crew as it as for I suspect similar reasons. They could pull Jeff and bring him back, but he is already part of that skeleton crew. I miss seeing a bassist on that stage as much as anyone else, but I feel my argument does hold ground.
And I would say the guys in Periphery are smart enough with their sound design to know how crucial bass is to their mix. The bass tracks we've been hearing are straight from the recordings and I can bet they are sent to an isolated channel on the board to where it gives the presence of a live bass player. All the videos Ive seen of them playing as of late sounds just fine. Like they aren't missing anything.
I've never watched a video zoomed in and out so many times. Could you even enjoy the show with that much recording activity? You were high or on something to record the way you did or you actually record everything like this video LOL!
+Brandon I really like Jake but I just had a thought, has he ever created a song for Periphery?(excluding clear) I mean like in the way that Mark created the opening riff to Mile Zero and how Misha has all of his demos and riffs he makes. I know that Jake's done a few solos that rip, I'd like to see him more in charge because what he does make is awesome.
Matt is probably the most entertaining drummer to watch. The faces he makes are priceless LOL
he was the inspiration behind '22 faces'
Matt Halpern is the reason why I play drums.
A-a metal singer that d-doesn't cup the microphone all the time?! A thing of legend!
Listen to the Faceless... The spiraling void live.. he is a true singer..
Been trying to cover this song for a while omg! The highs are sooo goddamn hard to pull off
yo spencer is fucking killing it
He's the one who shows constant improvement. I mean they all do, but his improvements are usually the most obvious. Such a talent!
yea man,its like he just keeps getting better,he's sounding more brutal and meaner
+chino Mndza yeah he seems to have more stamina in the screams
Nicolas Fro that and that his screams sounds more powerful and not thin like others
chino Mndza I remember someone said he abuses auto tune, this is proof he doesn't haha (or doesn't need it)
If you are wondering what Misha is saying @ 0:58: "I don't have a pen!" I threw my shirt on stage to get it signed by Misha. :)
I think he said "I don't have one!"
Lol when Jake tried to song harmony xD
Lol why the fuck would you try to have him sign something in the middle of a song?
Seriously... Who throws shit on stage in the middle of the show to get something signed
I don't know, but surely that was an akward, but very special moment for him, even if his shirt wasn't signed haha
HAHAHA 3:05 Spencer making grindcore sounds
Yesss haha I was about to point that out
Briee
*pushes up glasses* Ummmm, those are pig squeals. Thank you
*snap*
that's some kickass performance bruh
Should see them with their usual lighting setup. jesus christ its insane
the fucking legend was playing on an SE instead of the high end sig what a god
makes a ton of sense though, not bringing the more expensive model on the road all the time. i think he mentioned in an interview that in terms of sound and playability the SE is on par with the signature model
Can't wait for the chance to see these guys live. Discovered them very recently, and turns out they came through my area just before I did :(
first time i've them live and they where the best band of the weekend. hands down. Spencer's voice live is fucking insane, musicianship was impeccable. They need to be on the main stage next year!!!
MARK IS PLAYING HIS NEW PRS SE MARK HOLCOMB
thats cool that jake does background vocals, didn't know that
Taylor The Warlock He does the backing vocals at live performances, but not all - some are pre-recorded
I already miss Nolly. If he can't float it they need to find someone else stat. I know you can track the bass but give us a human.....please.
Previously they had Jeff Holcomb play bass when Nolly couldn't make it, so he's probably a good contender for being touring bassist. They'd have to get someone else to do their lightshows, though.
Why isn’t Nolly there? This a year before he left
it god voice
Why'd they have their set-list on display?
I'M TELLIN YA'LL, NOLLY'S GONNA START MISSIN TOURIN N HE'S LEAVIN HIS FAMILY N CUMIN BACK, N MY JIZZIN ROUTIN IS GONNA BE BACK TO NORMAL AGAIN.
Hey I'm worried that you haven't jizzed for seven years now. Are you okay?
wow where is nolly?
He released a statement that he's still in Periphery, but will not tour anymore.
+Matthewforpresident whaaaaat? oh no
Yeah, it kinda sucks 'cause his bass sound is simply amazing
Nolly got recently married and wants to focus on producing
Can you give a link to this statement? Cannot find it anywhere, thanks!
Where is the bass player??
Their bassist left as a live member - he just records and mixes for them now.
Misha's McBook Pro is the new bass player.
It's bs that they're using backing tracks for bass. They need to have someone with them on tour

boo no bass
Their bassist left as a live member - he just records and mixes for them now.
Lol Jake stick to guitar.
Wish they would kick Bowen out of the band.
No way, he's gr8
Why? His contributed to periphery since p1.. He co-wrote racecar... You don't know what you're talking about
Wish people would keep their negative opinions that aren't needed to themselves.

+Luis Espinoza umm heavy heart, masamune, absolomb (partly) stranger things, a large portion of p1 was cowritten by jake as I already said.
