this song always resonated as one of the strongest in the Moody catalog. My dad used to play these albums when I was little. They scared me. The scarier part is that this was recorded in 1972 and not much has changed.
Having served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a young man and listening to this song in the early 70's,while at war in the Far East, it is with a heavy heart to learn that we've not advanced very far in human relations...the bitterness remains, the strife worsens, poverty and isolation destroy families, and a lack of understanding amongst our leaders is glaring. Why must we endure such atrocities? Please Lord, help us. A humble servant.
So here I am watching this video and listening to this song, a song I used to listen to 40 years ago. Now Im 53 and I actually understand the lyrics. Wow, thanks for posting this video. As a kid it was just a great song. Now its full of meaning.
Thanks for creating the wonderful video to go with this epic song.. we were listening and singing this when we were teenagers and there was still hope in our hearts. I wish the world had listened.
I watched this video this morning, i love moody blues and this song especially but this video went so well with the lyrics and the meaning and soul of the song, it should be the official video, it made me cry.
What an incredibly powerful video to go along with this wonderful song. You should be very proud of yourself shabouly. I was quite emotional watching this video. What unspeakable bad deeds, the human race has brought upon this world, over the years. Sometimes, us humans, take for granted, the way we live our lives. It takes people like you, to open our eyes. THANK-YOU SO MUCH, for posting this video.
@DrSiffy Speaking as just some guy, an ex squid, and an atheist to boot, I agree with your sentiments, though I think it falls to us, to you, me and all of us to choose. And to teach each other that we have a choice and bear the responsibility for our choices. And as a guy who lost a 17 year old cousin, on his first day in country, to that war you fought - thank you for your service.
Sharing , trust , and a true understanding of ourselves as souls is the solution......however, it may take a painful awakening and agony of mind to help us all realize this fact.
Great images you selected to go with this fantastic song! Thanks for taking the time, and caring to do such a wonderful job. I was not quite 16 when Seventh Sojourn came out. '72 saw so many great albums. Here's a bit of Mike Pinder trivia: Did you know that he was with The Searchers--the band that recorded "Love Potion Number 9", back in '59, I believe?
I can state that two countries have learn that war is not the right thing to do. Because some countries forget the lessons of the past, they will condem to find out the truth about the costs of war. It will be a long for the world to find peace.
Any religion, creed, natioinality, or ethnic ideology can be used to justify and rationalize hate, fear, and conflict. Yet every religion I have ever learned anything about also includes the ideals of brotherhgood, understanding, compassion, peace and love. It is up to us, as individuals to choose, because whatever we choose we will find a way to rationalize.
If science is not associated with a realistic thought, not only will not have the right effect, but sooner or later will move toward the opposite direction and can destroy a country and its people in a unimaginable way. So ...Dont forget this one any time "Be right if you are a free man " AND "Good to be free all the time" Long live true soldiers and freedom fighter of the world. Marshal.Rainbow
the futility of war. it's easy to kill, not so easy to live with. it's our young men and now women who pay the price. have seen more than one vet wake up screaming in the night. a few are worth the price, most are not. if we had not fought WW2, how many more would have died? the original Godzilla film was about American fire bomb attack on Tokyo, 17 square miles burned out in fire storm with ground temperatures reaching over a 1,000 degrees. dead estimated at 100,000 to 500,000. if not for atomic bomb, we would have used poison gas, killing a estimated third of the population. glad we don't have to live with that!
