This brings back fond memories of hanging out with my musical sensei, Warren, who had all the weird stuff. Never did I leave his apartment in a quotidian state of mind, back in the mid-70s. He was from NYC as was building what would be the internet by day, and listening to great music by night. I'll turn you on to what he turned me on...as far as I can remember...that you may or may not know. This band, Faust, Fripp & Eno, Van der Graaf Generator, Tomita, John Cage, Xenaxis, George Crumb, Olivier Messiaen, Elliott Carter, Stockhausen, as well as your Yes, Genesis, King Crimson, ELP, Strawbs, Gryphon, Renaissance, Gentle Giant and the other great progenitors of prog. Nonesuch and ECM were the labels I most remember. This is all very digestible weirdness for a prog regimen. Curious as to what we has listened to since then. We lost touch, sadly.

My next-door neighbor was my guide. Till he came back from Woodstock and became insufferable! But my dad's jazz and his influence got me going in the right direction! Peace & Love.

@@jamespaivapaiva4460 I could have used a jazz guide. My music teacher in the middle grades came down from the jazz world, so we played a little, with some Bach and Stravinsky thrown in. And in the later '70s Bill from Greensboro who get me up to speed with what was happening at ECM. I tend to gravitate toward bands with drummers who have some jazz chops, like Bruford and Cobham. Did your father play?

Amon Düül was initially a commune in munich in the spirit of free love an "everybody can make music", and so dilletantic was their sound. Some of them splitted to Amon Düül II, who had more "musical" ambitions. At the time of Phallus Dei they were very rough and chaotic. It has it's charm, but i find, that the real highlights of them began when they developed their sound and abilities with "Yeti", "Tanz der Lemminge" and my favourite, "Wolf City"...
I would appreciate more Amon Düül II, but want also to mention, that they were part of a very interesting scene in munich at this time, with very interesting bands, who shared partially same musicians. Chris Karrer and Dieter Serfas played with Embryo, one of the first Jazz-Fusion-Worldmusic-Bands. Renate Knaup and Daniel Fichelscher became members in the fantastic "Popol Vuh", where i find, that especially albums like "Letzte Tage - Letzte Nächte" or "Einsjäger und Siebenjäger" they brought much of the Düül-Spirit...

Justin, if you haven't seen Suspiria (2017), Soundtrack by Tom Yourke, Featuring Tilda Swinton in three Roles, lots of Ritual, a Screenplay infused from the then Thomas De Quincey's Drug-Born Essay, 'Suspiria de Profundis', you might want to take a Dive into Suspiria (2017).

Your wahr gut. IMHO, anyway. (I only pretend to be an expert on these things). Your were good, though.
Gut, I tend to exaggerate to "goooot" but that's probably not right.
For "Schön" (nötë thë ümläüt), "shurn" might make a reasonable approximation. Rhyme it with "churn".
Schon (without the ümlaut) sounds more like "Shawn" means "already". If you use ö insted of o, it means beautiful.
I have a bit of a fixed misunderstanding of Schön, because I add the alternative meaning of "clean" to it (just because that's what they have in Afrikaans, and maybe Dutch), and that's not so in German, I think.
Phew! And now I've managed not to comment on those lyrics.
They were a cult of sorts to begin with. Some of the people in the cult were radical in a destructive kind of way. Some went on to form a terrorist organization (that eventually did stuff like kill people) called the Red Army Faction. It was a student kind of cult, and an art students kind of student cult, so I suppose one should not get excessively uncomfortable with what the lyrics might've referred to in real day to day life, as they lived it at that time. Given the Left leanings of the members, you might find there's something more political than just plain creepy in what they're saying here. I think I'll just think so, anyway. Just art and at the edges where art pushes boundaries and deliberately transgresses.
The first line, I think, is the line of Jesus, rendered in the King James version of the Bible, as "Suffer the little children to come unto me". (For which a modern meaning of "suffer" would be stupid, but might be something they're retrofitting to the words.)

Ha ha. You're reacting to my favourite album by my favourite band. I think I first heard this album when I was 12 or 13, maybe even 11. It has been there throughout my life through bad and good. I don't mind people saying that they don't like Amon Düül II, that's up to them but I love their, err, weirdness. The next track is, imo, the 2nd best on the album with Phallus Dei being my favourite piece of music of all time and space. Enjoy. I wait in anticipation to see your face on that last track

Dave sanborn died on the 12th of May. He was a brilliant alto sax player and will be missed by his millions of admirers. Maybe you should play a few tracks of his JP. Probably Smile, Lisa or Pyramid

Woz it U or Woz it Me
Or Woz it ex or zee
? I didn't even have to get me coat as I didn't feel the need to take it off.
But the guitar and mellotron were reason to linger a bit.
    I'm outta here.
    Chairs
No, still here. The vocal spoils this 4me. Apart from that, it's a jam in the dark in a garage among 14year olds. I speak from experience.

Great band, great song. Chaotic acid madness with a Hawkwind bass line!
