Totally agree. It is supposed to be an extravaganza. Comparing it to the movie theme song is like comparing apples and oranges BTW I think Bill's backup singers are 2 of the 3 who appeared with him often in the 80's. For instance on I'm Gonna Be Strong.
Listen to Bill and daughter McKenna sing this in UA-cam vid! Fantastic! She inherited her father’s talent. Much stronger voice and presentation than Jennifer Warnes.
I've seen this happen so many times live. The drummer gets over excited, sets the tempo for the band, and no one bothers telling him to "slow the FUCK down." It can and does ruin songs live. Great example above. But I also have seen where band members will get pissed and at least try to get the drummer to calm down. The bassist can fuck up the tempo as well, esp if his part dominates the tune to begin with both rhythmically and melodically. Also speaking from experience, having been in a rock band when I was younger and having wanted to slam the drummer upside the head on multiple occasions.
@morphing endorphins Having listened to this again since your reply in the thread...the drummer is not to blame. The singer set the tempo. The drummer simply complied with it.
@eduardogtrindade querido infelizmente isso não vai acontecer sabe pq? pq aqui no brasil o musical que fariam seria com tati quebra barraco, calcinha preta, funk , preta gil, sem falar no moda do momento restart desculpa desanimar vc!
Jennifer Warnes was there courtesy of Warner Brothers. She was not part of Vestron Pictures. Later, she would introduce Bill Medley to her producer, Steve Dorr, and Medley would join Warner Brothers and sing the theme for "Just The Ten Of Us."
I was tempted to blame the drummer, but hearing this again...unfortunately I have to blame the singer. *He* set the tempo, the drummer simply complied. Maybe the singer had a reason. Having been in a band, the drummer is usually to blame, but not in this case.
Nice song❤❤love

What happened to the tempo of this song?
You lose all the feeling in the song with this speed if you ask me.

Hold your horses Drummer !!!!
Best version of thing song. wish Jennifer Warnes was in it though the original was a bit slow for my tastes.
the congas and bongo are missing
pimpin leather jacket
Jennifer Warnes is irreplacable on this song !! Plus someones fell on the tempo switch
You said it!

Was it fast for time constraint or was everyone on coke
oh hell no where's jenifer
The song is toooo fast!
I think they may have sped it up to accommodate the dancers.
Esta tocado demasiado rapido, se pierde el swing del tema.
The female background singer is no match for Jennifer Warnes.
That is true. But remember Jennifer had her own obligations to fulfill that did not include Dirty Dancing. The show must go on.
If I'm not mistaken Bill's backup singers worked with him on several occasions in the 80's. For instance on I Gotta Be Strong.
🎤 Wait ‘til you hear McKenna sing this with her dad in UA-cam vid-Fantastic! She definitely inherited her dad’s talent. 🎶 👍🏼

Way to fast
Nope
Glee is crap.
i think glee is better than this .. :)
