I only played Chinese Counter Strike clones before finding COD4. The story, graphics, music, weapon details sent chills down my spine. Can't remember how much fun it was to shoot the Javelin, or the frustration of repeatedly dying charging straight into the bog before discovering that you can flank the left side.

I hate to use the term "cinematic" for a game, because I feel a gaming experience is fundamentally different to a movie due to the interaction involved. Yet to me COD4 really is what happens when you make an action movie into a game, rendering it cinematic of sorts. The sinking ship on the Bering Strait, the first-person execution, the nuke, the sniper mission... All worthy of blockbuster movie endings, all epic. Accompanied by this memorable soundtrack.
Never again will there be a Call of Duty so well made, with such an awesome soundtrack. Infinity Ward is just a shell company for activision now....sad to see the franchise derailed from what it could have been. It was a sad day when I realized Activision was going to ride COD in its most successful format until it died. I'm pretty sure the creators of this game had other ideas, grander ideas, than the shite activision releases each year. Listening to this reminds me of the great franchise we lost.

The best Call of Duty video game in the series without question. Other games may be considered more "classic" of the franchise, and while others may have more functions and new maps, this game was the pinnacle of the series, and everything beyond this point is widely considered downhill.
Kettz Apart from maybe MW2 which I loved, but it was a lot more action-movie like than MW which was more realistic and grounded. Black Ops has the best, most in-depth story of any COD if you actually take time to understand it, but some of the missions and characters were less interesting. Also from a multiplayer standpoint, BO was less successful.
I agree wholeheartedly. MW2 was a fantastic game and I played the living shit out of it, but I still consider that game a very slight descent from the peak that was MW1. In my opinion, the first major drop in the franchise actually happened with the release of Black Ops, which followed MW2. And many agree that MW3 was good, but nowhere near as great as MW1 and MW2 ever was.

This is a very underrated soundtrack. A big part of why the recent entrances to the franchise are being considered worse than CoD 4 through to Black Ops is because the soundtrack is terrible, even if you don't realise it. If you aren't captivated into what you're playing, the soundtrack could very well be the reason. And on a side note, lets not forget about World at War, I see a lot of people praising CoD 4 and MW2 and deservedly so, but WaW belongs up there as one of the best as well. To me, I prefer WaW over MW2, but nothing will touch CoD 4 for the remainder of this franchise.
+TheBazable WaW and CoD 4 are the only ones worth mentioning. Mw2 started the multiplayer craze. It's multiplayer was good, but all the games that came after it really spoiled the feeling.
I swear the ending theme were what made me (finally) conclude in: "wow this game is a masterpiece!"... Saddest Ending Ever (45:00) is just stunning. Also, the Main Menu theme (The Calm: 48:42) is simply unforgettable.

Ahh back when games had character and got you immersed in the action making you want to play it all the God damn time. Now all they focus on is graphics and physics and how to keep the kiddies buying the next cod every year. After mw2 it started going down hill slightly, black ops 1 was alright and so was mw3 but after that.......nope.

An intense firefight against a high number of enemy was just about to take place and I would have to fight them head-on, like Rambo. It's nostalgic for the tension that music caused at that time.

This is a very underrated soundtrack. A big part of why the recent entrances to the franchise are being considered worse than CoD 4 through to Black Ops is because the soundtrack is terrible, even if you don't realise it. If you aren't captivated into what you're playing, the soundtrack could very well be the reason. And on a side note, lets not forget about World at War, I see a lot of people praising CoD 4 and MW2 and deservedly so, but WaW belongs up there as one of the best as well. To me, I prefer WaW over MW2, but nothing will touch CoD 4 for the remainder of this franchise.
+TheBazable WaW and CoD 4 are the only ones worth mentioning. Mw2 started the multiplayer craze. It's multiplayer was good, but all the games that came after it really spoiled the feeling.

I swear the ending theme were what made me (finally) conclude in: "wow this game is a masterpiece!"... Saddest Ending Ever (45:00) is just stunning. Also, the Main Menu theme (The Calm: 48:42) is simply unforgettable.

Ahh back when games had character and got you immersed in the action making you want to play it all the God damn time. Now all they focus on is graphics and physics and how to keep the kiddies buying the next cod every year. After mw2 it started going down hill slightly, black ops 1 was alright and so was mw3 but after that.......nope.

Still the best COD. Great story, innovative multiplayer, best music...that's on par with a great movie soundtrack , incredible voice acting, awesome graphics for is time, the list goes on and on.

Данная часть серии MW отличается от остальных именно своей атмосферой. Тут не особо много пафоса и нереалестичных экшн-моментов, а максимум погружения. Игра погружает в выдуманную "гибридную войну", где ты непосредственный участник. Наглядно показывает это момент в начале, где сторонники Аль-Асада делают переворот и убивают Аль-Фулани. Этот эпизод лично у меня вызывает мурашки по коже от воображения данной сцены

An intense firefight against a high number of enemy was just about to take place and I would have to fight them head-on, like Rambo. It's nostalgic for the tension that music caused at that time.
