I REALLY hope that in the leadup to this game in the next two weeks, they release the Donkey Kong 94 on Switch Gameboy Online. By far one of the games I wanted the most when the service was revealed, and now is the PERFECT time to release it as marketing for the remake "Play Donkey Kong on Gameboy Online! Like what you see? Why not continue the saga and try Mario Vs Donkey Kong, releasing on February 16th!" But hey, that would make TOO much sense for Nintendo to do, right?!
yeah i’ll buy it on sale. i love the original but this price is just stupid. it’s literally double the price of the originals retail price. £40 or $50 is shocking for a short GBA remake.
I've actually been looking forward to this. I love me a good puzzle game. They're nice palette cleansers after bigger and longer games like Zelda or JRPGs. I played the shit outta Captain Toad right after one of the Xenoblades and it was perfect.
I really like what they did with the backgrounds and they seem to have some actual facial expressions for some of Mario’s moves. The one background that seemed a little less was the city, given the lack of motion in that scene. The one with the Ferris wheel was nice because it had that animation on the grass that reminded me a bit like Wonder.
I got Mario vs. DK in July 2017 for the Wii U VC and it was a great game. I remember it was very difficult at first mainly in the main mode but it still was a good time and I've played every mario vs dk out there but I like this game because of the ability to control mario himself and I like the idea of a remake, but I just hope that the new stuff won't take away some of the music, voicelines, and features that made the original good. As long as it's still as good as the original, I'm definitely going to get this!
I wouldn’t mind if they revived the Mario Vs. Donkey Kong series, ether with another remake or an entirely new game. I like the lemmings style of controlling the Mini Mario toys, but it would be nice to use other characters like more Kongs or Pauline.
I still feel like the sound effects of the original are so much more unique and charming than in the remake, all of these sound effects were such a big part of the vibe that I love from the original.
@@rostykul Yeah. It would be cool if they started giving new original voices and sound effects to the minor characters again, maybe even from different voice actors, to switch the vibe a bit. I really liked the Thwomp and Bob-Omb voices and sounds. They're unique, unlike anything else we've heard in other games, but they fit very well.
My question is whether it's worth double dipping or not. I liked the original, which i played for the first time in June of last year, but thought it had a few small issues, particularly with the controls, the small fov and that restarting a level would cost a life, which made going for 100% more annoying than it needed to. Even if the remake irons out all of those issues, £39.99 still seems a bit much for it. Maybe I'll get off of eBay or something months down the line if it seems like a good enough remake.
I like what I’m seeing with this remake for the most part, but I do feel the remake lost some of its edge & charm that the original game had, especially when it comes to Mario’s personality in this game. In the original, Mario was more meaner towards Donkey Kong, constantly being annoyed & angry towards him & sometimes insults DK in the original where as in the remake he does none of that & is instead more happy go lucky in this game, it comes off as a bit corporate to me, as if Nintendo doesn’t want to see Mario be angry & insulting other characters & instead have him act as a corporate Mickey Mouse mascot clone, but that’s just me.
I am 100% sure majority of you whining about the price have not played the original game on GBA 20 years ago. I played only the 1994 version, and some spin off on DS, minis something.
