Great video. I wish more YT content providers were this concise and clear. Bought this same exact disconnect box at one of the big box stores (it was all they had). It was DOA. I had 240V line in on the lugs. Load side to condenser was completely dead. I had spent 2 days installing an 18k 2-zone mini-split, and you imagine my frustration at initial power up when nothing happened. Traced it all back to the inop disconnect box. Upon further research, big box reviews of this particular product revealed a lot of 1-star reviews citing the exact same problem I had. Bought a better disconnect box and all was fine. Spend a few dollars more and get something that works.

So if you have a 20 amp mini ductless split ac system that requires 20 amp and 230v , so i would need at least a 20amp ac disconnect box and what kind of breaker would i need, single or double phase breaker?
I would go by the instructions on the unit itself or Google the name and model number for specs, too many variables to advise a plan for you
I have a question, I have a non fused disconnect, but my ac went out so i am doing away with it and instaling a window ac/heat, it runs off 220 just like my ac does, so can i swap out the non fused cut off box for a 125 amp sub panel with a 220 breaker for my new ac window unit?

Tons of complaints about the box needing fuses. I have been doing loads of research to replace my disconnect and isn't it true that code in most areas require a fused ac disconnect? Is that NEC? I bought the 60 amp fused box but if code doesn't require fuses why would any of us get that option?

Goid video thank you. Was wondering, i have a disconnect box by hot tub which i did remove hot tub. The ac disconnect for hot tub is fused even though it goes to a breaker. Can i use this disconnect for ac if i put in proper fuses for it even though it goes to a breaker? Or should i just get a new ac disconnect
You would have to check specs on your unit

Is the red, white and black wire stranded or solid? If stranded how did you eventually tie that into solid core inside the house?

What stops you from mounting the disconnect direcly on the other side of the wall from the breaker box and running the wires straight through a knockout on the back side of the disconnect and then into the breaker box from the backside? Is that a bad idea or against code?
Disconnect should be close to the unit
@@GetToThePointplz123 Fortunately the unit is only a few feet away. So can I line up the knockouts and run romex straight through the wall? With grommets on both sides.
Question. My disconnect is connected to my Patio outdoor outlet. Now water drops out from the outlet after heavy downpours. Where can the water possibly enter from?

Carlon E978FC-CAR PVC straps on a google search should get you there. FC=1", EC=3/4", DC=1/2", HC=1 1/2", etc... They are rated for direct sunlight usage also.
Good video. I have a 3 car garage/ man cave fully insulated, ceilings too and even the garage doors. Garage is about 660 sq ft with 8ft celing hight. The lowest tempature during Christmas will be 37 degrees farenhight. My questions is if I install a 5000-7000w electric heater, I have to installed a 240v outlet too right or it can be just hardwired??
Eventually I will buy a minisplit system and be getting rid of the electric heater. Will I be able to use the 240v outlet previously installed for electric heater when I install mini split in future??
Also we will be getting an electric car down the road so I will need a 240v outlet to charge car so what will be the correct pathway for my projects, install a 240v right now for electric heater so I have heater in man cave before Christmas or maybe just use propane heater just for that day🙄 until I figure out what minisplit system to buy??

Its just that I need heating for Christmas since we will be playing pool and it will be around 38 degrees farenhight outside probably about 43 or higher inside garage since its insulated. Maybe I can get away with a propane heater just for chriatmas night until I install Mr cool 18000 Btu system.

Depends on the unit ? If you don't have an installation manual you can look it up online and find out exactly what it requires
AC condenser units need 240 volts. The 240 volts comes from the panel by bringing 2 120 volt live wires to get the 240.
@@tier3rd375 Usually, yes, but the mrcool DIY 12k mini split only needs a 15 amp, 120 volt (single pole) breaker as the condenser unit says "115V" on the side. The guy at the Home Depot also though I was getting the wrong breaker when I told him I was installing a mini split.

Check specs of unit, that will tell you for sure what you need for your specific appliance
Correct, with a multi-zone mini split you have one condensor. So you just need one disconnect. For example, I am doing two separate dual zone units because of the way my house is configured (I can't do a single four zone system), so two condensers means I need two disconnects. Hope that helps.

correct me if im wrong here but isnt that a "fuseable" disconnect? the disconnect bar looks just like mine, like a dummy i bought the fuseable one. did you have to get fuses for it of just solder some 10ga wires between the line and load?

I just got one of these TF3ORCP from Home Depot and cannot see how those copper contact complete the circuits? I see no conductor going from the line contacts to the load contacts!! How does this work?

4:39 seconds into the video shows the four separate copper connections, but I don’t see where plugging it in will join the line to the load. The copper is not connected in the disconnect switch. What am I missing?

Im running an outlet to a gazebo using pvc pipe. I noticed you removed the jacket to your 10/2. Do i need to do that if im running 14/2? Sorry im a novice

Yes you can leave on the white cover sleeve, just remove it when it enters your outlet box. Any outdoor exposed wiring use a conduit pipe, or the gray PVC pipe.

So I have this exact disconnect and I wired it up exactly like you did, plus the wires that go out to load side, turned power on and Cant get power out of the disconnect to the unit! Could my disconnect be defective?

@@GetToThePointplz123 schedule 40 has thinner walls. Both however have the same outside diameter. But the 80 has a smaller inside diameter. Chances are you are using 40
would of liked to see what goes in the panel anyway. Since all other instruction " included" are extremely! vague but
Where is your white neutral wire?! It appears you are using the green ground as the neutral, so there could be some voltage measurable on the case of the service disconnect switch, or the body of whatever is wired into the service disconnect as a load.
I may be wrong, or it may be a differences in state codes. I thought the white neutral could only be bonded to ground in the main panel, and the white neutral had to be run thru your conduit to the load on the end. Your service disconnect switch would only impact the 2 hots, not the neutral. The green ground goes to the ground of the service disconnect.
Please educate me if I am wrong, and thanks.
Most (that i know of, dont call for one) there's no lug for a neutral in the box, only advice I can give is for you to read up on it..thnx
should have heated the elbow to create a level/plumb connection into the breaker panel. You'd have a much stronger attachment by drilling into the brick rather than the mortar.
If the bricks are solid that would work, not so much if they are hollow

A strictly 240v circuit or appliance (such as ac condensing unit) doesn't need a neutral, I would refer to the spec sheet of your unit and/or have a local electrician give you a hand...good luck, be safe thnx
@@GetToThePointplz123 First of all, my unit has a 40 page instruction booklet which is chock full of omissions and lack of clarity. Surprisingly, it has no wiring diagram. Anyway, let's take the case of a 220v range. Wiring for that has 4 wires: 2 hots (red and black), a neutral (white), and a bare ground wire. As I understand it, this is perfectly normal and typical for a 220v appliance. Also, in the case of this mini-split, part of it uses 110v and part uses 220v, hence the need for a white neutral wire. If I fail to understand anything here, I hope to know exactly what that is.

IMC conduit it's a thicker conduit that is galvanized,
