I used to love West Coast Seeds but they're prices are getting a bit ridiculous. So the past few years I've started to support smaller Canadian businesses that sell the same stuff for half the price. In the end, no matter where the seeds come from.. they're always a joy when they come in!! 😍 Great haul! 🌱
Prices have definitely gone up so I don't get all my stuff from them anymore...I got a lot of PNW seeds last year. What other canadian companies have you had good experiences with? I'd love to expand my horizons.
9:17 Those carrots are so pretty! I love all the different colors. Have never ordered from Pacific Northwest seeds before, but it looks like you purchased some wonderful varieties :) -Cara
The colorful homegrown carrots taste so much better than store bought! I did some Early Girl tomatoes from seed last year. They were easy and produced well. I want to do more romas this year and less slicing, but will probably always have one or two Early Girls in the mix.
Cool seed unboxing, Laura! I enjoy seeing what people are planning to grow. Hearing why they chose what they did can be really interesting and give me new ideas. 😎 I grow Dinosaur Kale, too, and it's my ducks' *absolute* favorite thing to eat. ☺️ However, my own favorite Kale has to be Purple Tree Kale. It's gorgeous, prolific, and *SO* delicious! Plus, it's perennial down to Zone 6 and super easy to propagate via cuttings. 😁
Thanks! Tree kale is something I haven't experimented with yet...definitely planning on more perennial veggies in the coming years as I build more beds.
Thanks for sharing the unboxing, lots of good stuff. Kohlrabi is great in fall soups as well, peeled and cut into chunks .... I like Red Russian Kale only in the early spring as baby kale ..Its really good how you described ..
Hello Laura , hubby and myself have been gardening for many years the last few years I have purchased seeds for the dollar store (4 for 1.25) can’t go wrong. Everything has grown wonderful . I have purchased from West Coast Seeds very expensive very disappointed when you spent 10 dollars for a pkg of seeds and it does not germinate.
That's so frustrating that the more expensive seeds didn't germinate. I've always had good luck with cheap seeds for easy germinating things like peas and beans and zucchini but have had a really bad streak with tomatoes specifically. Glad that they're working for you though :)
Bush Beans....easy peasy. I'm obsessed with trying new beans each year! Good Luck

I’m with you on the chunky mashed potatoes 😅

Good tip for the kohlrabi, I'll try it in a soup. Thanks!
Sungold cherry tomatos are very good and sweet.
Yes! They're a firm favourite.
