  • Mr and Mrs H travel to Merseyside to search for the grave of former TV star and comedy legend Freddie Starr who sadly passed away at his villa in Spain on the 9th of May 2019 aged 76 years and was a familiar face on UK television screens throughout the late 1970's and 1980's with his wacky fast paced brand of humour.

@MCF155 Thank you Sir for what you did for Freddie. You have my greatest respect. I worked in the Theatre for some years and met Freddie on several occasions. He was a bit of a madcap character as his behaviour showed when he entered the Theatre on one occasion and became bored, so he played up and it was very comical. However, I got the strongest feeling that beneath his very outlandish behaviour sometimes and his outwardly going character, was a man who was shy and insecure. Thank you again Sir. 👏⭐🌹

I remember them saying on the telly news that freddie was going to be buried with his mother in Prescott.
Freddie came into my shop once and bought a porcelain elephant stool, I read a few years later in a magazine article that he liked to collect anything to do with elephants and in a photo of his house you could see the elephant stool that he bought from me in the background.

Hi Mick, interesting story and you learn something new every day as they say as I've never read/seen anywhere that he had an interest in elephants.
Regarding Freddie being buried at Prescot it was his funeral service that took place there at Prescot Parish Church not his burial which was afterwards and a private affair with only family and close friends invited to attend.
But you are in good company in also thinking that he'd been buried there as we spent just over an hour searching in vain the cemetery next to the church.

After double checking my info as I intend to do a video on these forgotten Wigan murders at some point in the future I've realised that he's not buried at Hindley Cemetery as I had previously stated and that his grave is instead at Gidlow Cemetery in the Church of England section 14, grave number 848.

I have seen the video of Sir Terry Wogan's final resting place on the channel that you mention which was very tastefully done.
Without speculating on the location too much it would appear that he was laid to rest at a woodland or natural burial site given the style of the memorial as opposed to a a traditional cemetery.
I agree that it is interesting to see the headstones or markers of well known personalities especially those that were part of your childhood when growing up.

In 'The Bad Boys of Comedy' documenary on Freddie Starr he admits himself that he was a shit to his wife and kids and that eventually he paid the price for it by being cut off by them.
Also in the same documentary his peers in the entertainment industry were brutally honest about how he could be difficult to work with and had squandered many chances especially in television.
So no we didn't need to wait until his death to find any of this out as the man himself admitted that he was flawed and wasn't perfect.

Comedy was made politically correct and the madness has snowballed to gigantic proportions. Spike Milligan was amongst the first casualties of this mind virus. On his grave, "Dúirt mé leat go raibh mé tinn" (Oy tink!) Trans: "I told you I was ill."

His family have expressed their wish not to have the location of Freddie's grave made public and it is out of respect to both them and Freddie that I have not done so.
However if you would like to visit Freddie's grave then as I said towards the end of the video you can easily follow the breadcrumbs of information online and join the dots to find the location yourself as Mrs H did which took her less than five minutes.
