Bastille Day 2021: Macron leads France's traditional military parade

- Thousands of military and public security personnel paraded by foot, on vehicles and aboard jets over Paris' Champs Elysees avenue on Wednesday as France celebrated its national day.
French President Emmanuel Macron led the national day parade, marking the first time the traditional Bastille Day event has been held since the COVID-19 crisis began.
Some 5,000 participants were expected to take part in this year's march, which starts from the Arc de Triomphe monument and ends with a ceremony on the Concorde square.

The French have a strong military but I dont understand the awkward dancing and music in a military parade thats just weird still glad to have the French as an ally with my country though me being American of course
Dont worry, true french also think it has no place in our parade..
That's because the point of the 14 july parade is not really to show the strength of the military but more to show the respect from the civilians to the soldiers and the fact that the army is under the law of the Republic and at the service of the people. That's why there were not only soldiers in the parade, but also sometime policemen, firefighter and even nurses and doctors last years. That's also why we frequently invite units from allied countries, to honor them in public.
It's voluntarily less martial than military parade in country like Russia or China and more festive (so...the awkward dance, like you say) to avoid ressemblance with the parades frequently shown in authoritarian regime, where the point is more agressive nationalism and showing the might of the regime.

The storming of the bastille happened on the 14th of July 1789 and has been celebrated ever since.Federation day happened in honor of the stormin of the Bastillea year later, the only real important documents from the revolution are the “declaration des droits de l’homme et du citoyen “ , the constitution that frances uses is the 5th Republic one from 1958( October), thus no celebrating the one from 1790. I am french but you don’t see me discrediting or misleading people about the national day of another country.

This unit is part of what is called the "adapted military service". The aim is to get young people in the overseas territories who are in difficulty back on the right track. On top of that, you can't see it on the clip chosen here but if you look at the whole parade, you will see that there are also some whites within this unit. So no, it is not segregationist at all. This is not something that belongs in France and never has been.
