    Hi Mark, thanks for all your nice tutorials. Just good information and clear! Not that "populair stuff or clickbait"
    I have some questions. i have rent a Sony A9 and will rent also a Sony A7RIII for a bear photography trip (my A7RIV is not arrived yet). I am used to 1DX and 5D Mark IV during but my previous trip i missed shots with focussing, i just dont like it on DSLR anymore. Never liked it. I bought a Sony 400 mm f/2.8.
    What I would like with focussing with the A9 is that the camera keeps focussing on the spot i choose with "tracking flexible spot S" (its a shame the A9 has no eye af for animal yet anmd i will leave 13 september) also AFTER i made shots and release the shutter release.. Right now after taking pictures i have to find focus again (move the tracking flexible spot S with the joystick to the eye/head again) and that takes time. Is there anyway to let the camera focus on a spot of the bear also after i stopped making pictures? So 1 time focussing with "flexible spot S tracking" on the head and then as longs as the bear is moving trough the focus points, the camera will keep that spot in focus. Also when i stop shooting, shoot again, stop etc.
    Another question about animal eye AF on the A7RIII. Do i have to use a specific AF AREA to use eye AF or not? Right now with the rental Sony A9 i switch between WIDE tracking and tracking flexible spot S with a custom button (toggle). When i turn Eye AF on in the menu and select animal as subject, will the camera focus on the eye if the bear is close enough automatically? Only when i half press the shutter or automatically keep focussing and the eye without even half pressing? I am sorry for the questions. I hope you can help me.
    I will use the 400 mm /2.8 for the most and on f/2.8 (very low light) and the a7RIII with 70/200 2.8 when the bear comes close to the hide. I am a bit worried the camera will focus and the nose and the depth of field can be shallow when the bear is close. When the bear is further away, the whole head will often be sharp. Also it can be quite dark and the bear is also dark, not always easy to focus.
    I feel very excited about a custom key button i programmed to switch to MF with Magnification AND zebra. Now i can change fast to MF when AF fails!! but of course AF if possible :)

    I'm following the steps to register the Lock on AF Wide area, but when I long press the fn button, I just get the fn items I have configured for the fn button. I do not get the registration, and therefore can't proceed to assign the AF area to a button. Why is this happening? I am following the steps shown in the video exactly, so I am thinking that some setting somewhere on the camera is inconsistent with registering the AF area. Help!

    Hi mark, I have a question in that a very famous Australian photographer who specializes in Arctic/Antarctic photography has stated that the Mirrorless camera's do not handle extreme cold temperature and that the battery life is extremely affected/reduced. Your comment

    • @AlphaCreativeSkills
      @AlphaCreativeSkills  5 років тому

      It’s not really a question of DSLR vs Mirrorless except most MirrorlessPro cameras use smaller batteries as the cameras are smaller. Battery capacity does have an impact. Sony has upgraded its batteries in the A7III, A7RIII and A9 cameras and most users find a single battery will last all day. Mirrorless cameras can be used in sub zero temperatures and spare batteries can be kept in pockets to keep them warm. I have also heard of time lapse photographers placing hand warmers on the camera body to extend battery life in sub-zero temperatures.

    Hi Mark ! Actually I can't get AF Illuminator works in hlv-f60M, using it on my A9. I feel kinda nervous. Could you help me , please ! So many thanx !

    • @AlphaCreativeSkills
      @AlphaCreativeSkills  6 років тому +1

      The AF illuminator does not work on the older flash units on any of the Sony mirrorless cameras. If you need an AF illuminator the newer RM models will activate its LED light to help you Focus.

    is there any way to avoid over heating?

    • @AlphaCreativeSkills
      @AlphaCreativeSkills  4 роки тому

      I don’t encounter overheating on my A9. If you do, raise the minimum temperature cutoff in the menu settings and pull the monitor out from the body slightly.

    Hi Mark, which of the spot metering points do you set in the menu, Focus Point Link or Center? I currently have it set to focus point link on my A7RIII. cheers...

    • @AlphaCreativeSkills
      @AlphaCreativeSkills  5 років тому

      BikeVisionScotland - Focus point link is my personal choice. I rarely use spot metering but this option can be useful for photographing concerts where you do not want to inadvertently ‘blow out’ or ‘clip’ the highlights because the metering system is averaging the large unlit areas of the frame.
