Fantastic, talented musician. He seriously runs the gamut, musically, but it's hard to put into words, what a 360 talent he is. Tim too. Lolol those two older finn bros, have the best hair in 47 outta 50 states in America!!!🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍
The only band that has no 'bad' songs. I love all their music - incredible writing, musicality, playing skill, and emotion. I've always told my spouse they are the only band I'd pay to go see. And they just bought me my tickets to do so! This interview was a great way to start my day! Loved it!
Two kiwis in a room. One a fantastic radio personality and another New Zealand's greatest ever songwriter. Untouched. One of the world's very very very best. Crowded, Finn Brothers, solo, etc amazing.
I was at the Dublin show last night with my 17 year old daughter, I first seen crowded house in 1994 for the together alone tour when I was 17. Passing their beautiful music on to my children and one day my grandchildren. 💚
one of the best if not the best interview with Neil I have seen. How do you thank people like Neil et al? You just can't I buy the albums, sure, not not to be too stalky and drop in a bottle of Tasmanian Rye whiskey at the studio. I have listened since beginning of the enz, mesmerised. I can play the whole catalogue in my head ( a great skill to have) The only other great interview that comes to mind is Jeremy Ansells Enzology. I haven't done Gravity Stairs yet, I have been holding out, but I think the time is right. I have listened to some of Neil's solo works and have been trying to pick apart the layers of complexity and look at them differently. Wow, just wow. beautiful deep cryptic words with music that defies the standard patterns or chords.
Absolutely Neil Finn is a Fantastic song writer...songs that become embedded into us fans and into others who want to be fans but haven't woken up yet!!! Gravity Stairs is Unbelievably good and Wow...what a great album to come back with!!! Excellent interview!! Thank you!!! xo
Funnily enough, i watched Neil play in Dublin in 2014/15 on the Dizzy Heights tour, slighrly drunk after some pints of guinness, and he played from 9pm till 12.30am and more.. people calling out requests.. curfew smashed!!! What a night
Had the pleasure of interviewing Crowded House just before their launch, having had a not so great interview with Tim weeks before, and a personal interaction with Paul that ramped the embarrassment level but one of the best interviews for the kindness and generosity in the room. All that gorgeous music and so much talent.
Neil has been my favorite songwriter since I first heard Don't Dream It's Over when it was released. I've seen Crowded House only three times but they're the best live band ever. Only wish I saw them with Paul Hester.
Not only you. And that realization really sneaked up on me. I maintained that Woodface was their best, for years, until I brought Together Alone into my car one day and it didn't leave the player for 3 months. Now I think TA is clearly the better record. More consistent, no real weaknesses.
I still miss Paul Hester every single time that I play Crowded House and Paul’s Largest Living Thing. Paul is still the only person who can really harmonise with Neil. I’m so very glad that I was there for our Paulo ❤
I totally agree with you. Paul’s harmonies with Neil’s are unmatched. Also I believe Neil said Paul’s drum work was the most in sync with Neil’s guitar and that he couldn’t find anyone that mastered brushes like Paul.
Great interview, but the F Bombs with the interviewer are completely unnecessary. Neil is delightful! God bless you and have a successful tour! ❤️ Can't wait to see you at Wolf Trap. It will be the first time I have seen you live. Been a fan since the early 80's.
Would not have known about this Pablo Vasquez album without Neil chatting about it! Love the Elroy solo album so really looking forward to this one and the new Crowded House❤
I agree with many comments here re the interviewer. He needed to chill before he began speaking. Why so many f-bombs?? Neil was so interesting! And such an amazing talent! A more professional interview would be easier to watch. I started to cringe at every f***.
The new album is really good. A true return to form. I was a bit skeptical after the last album and still think Liam is a better drummer than his brother but this is great. It's definitely a high quality album with all of the tracks excellent. Track one is the highlight. Actually a true follow up to Together Alone
John Lennon once said a song came to him in his dreams. It is intriguing where the gift of melodies and words come from. We receive the inspiration and then the music produced permutes the cosmos. Just as a mushroom has a symbiotic relationship with a tree perhaps we are a vessel for the universe to express itself.
Always love listening to Neil who's my fave songwriter of the past 40+ years, but the F bombs dropped by the interviewer were jarring and unnecessary. Looking forward to the new album popping through my letterbox today.
I loved Covid, I hate the after effects on my country and town, and now my life. Love Neill Fin, seen this interviewer with U2, not sure yet. Too cool for school, but I'm listening.
All you had to do is listen to a couple of interviews with Lennon to know why they broke up. Lennon said they were repeating themselves and that they’d been together since they were 15. They grew up and out of Beatlemania. No mystery.
Great to hear the someone is taking charge of the Split Enz back catalogue, an overhaul is long overdue ...I have a requst if the person who is sorting things out is reading this please please a million times please, can we have a reissue of the Out Of The Bag DVD which has been out of print for years and when 2nd hand copies come up for sale on line its always crazy prices...And it goes without saying a CD box set of all the albums would be most welcome....
I really enjoyed the videos posted by your company There were a lot of stories that touched my heart and soul The stories raise the spirits for me I am a very blessed and happy person Thank you very much ...🎉🎉😊
Just loved this interview! Zane speaks for all the lifelong Split Enz and Crowded House fans who to this day continue to listen to and love their catalog of music, and who also appreciate their desire to keep pushing themselves in making new music. 👏🏻
rarely see CH pay "together alone', for me their best song and album. I recall an old video where they were taking requests from fans in the audience and that song came up, the band felt panicked and genuinely struggled to find the chords , might've played a bar or two I think but cmon has it not been played live more?
I would love to see Peter Jackson put together a Split Enz Film . Life changing and affirming band , coloured by creative genius left right and centre 🏛💫
Love hearing Neil talk but jeez this guy Zane Lowe is annoying. Does he think he is some equivalent of Neil Finn? One of our greatest living songwriters? This guy needs to keep his ego in check.
Great interview, but why the totally unnecessary potty mouth comments from Zane . . is he trying to be Howard Stern? Neil controlled himself beautifully by not swearing once (it's a thing called dignity Zane!)
Zane Lowe is always painful! He’s convinced he’s on the same level as these artists and it’s almost like he thinks he completely understands each artists creative process, it’s terribly arrogant and delusional.
God doesn't like a fowl mouth need be calmer and do mind to happy and nicer to others around in the 🌍 ps... Summer the first day going to the lake or Beach 🏖️ and just sit watch MTV
Don’t know why the host felt is was appropriate to suddenly start being potty mouthed, maybe he’s trying to come across as credible to youth, a bit David Brentish. Cringe…
Great interview. Neil Finn is one of the greatest songwriters walking the Earth.
😊😊😊😊 oh mate ..
@@jonylawson73 Absoloutely its true!

Definitely. Neil, Dave Matthews, Radiohead, Paul Kelly. Alongside the McCartneys, Dylans… etc
One of the great songwriters still floating around the world today.
The best pure songwriter of his generation.
The only band that has no 'bad' songs. I love all their music - incredible writing, musicality, playing skill, and emotion. I've always told my spouse they are the only band I'd pay to go see. And they just bought me my tickets to do so! This interview was a great way to start my day! Loved it!
The greatest song writer of our generation. Neil Finn thank you sir.
What a phenomenal songwriter/musician. As a 51 year old guitar player I’ve admired this mans craft for many years…
Like fine wine Mr Finn
Neil Finn has the best songs, vocals & albums!!❤
i love that mitchell is in the band, there is crowded house DNA in his soul
'Try Whistling This' brings me to tears and from Liam it's 'Wide Awake on the Voyage Home' 😭😭 BOTH amazing cries 😊
Two kiwis in a room. One a fantastic radio personality and another New Zealand's greatest ever songwriter. Untouched. One of the world's very very very best. Crowded, Finn Brothers, solo, etc amazing.

Neil's voice has graced many countries, stages and bands. His contribution is monumental. Anyone watching this will agree!

What an experience. Very envious!
@deano6912 will live with me forever. Managed to meet them after the Shepherds Bush empire gig on Thursday night. So amazing

surprised ZL didn't mention the majestic " Together Alone" album. Is it only me that thinks this is their masterpiece?
He does mention it at about 49 minutes. ZL calls it one of the most flawless bodies of songs of his lifetime
Not only you. And that realization really sneaked up on me. I maintained that Woodface was their best, for years, until I brought Together Alone into my car one day and it didn't leave the player for 3 months. Now I think TA is clearly the better record. More consistent, no real weaknesses.
It's lovely to see how Neil shifts uncomfortably in his seat when Zane is fan-girling and showering him with praise. A humble songwriting genius.
Neil did no such thing
Pure genius singer and songwriter. What a legend.
I wish Paul were here to enjoyed the band's renewed acknowledgement and success.
I still miss Paul Hester every single time that I play Crowded House and Paul’s Largest Living Thing. Paul is still the only person who can really harmonise with Neil. I’m so very glad that I was there for our Paulo ❤

Agree, like being interviewed by a teenager
@@markmitchell7900 Must be frustrating when your occupation rests on your ability to talk, all the while having a limited vocabulary
Terrible what is wrong with him?
Interviewer trying too hard to be cool with the frequent F word. Childish.
The right word to describe this interviewer is “amateur”. The lack of respect for his amazing guest is disgraceful.
Great new album , Neil's done it again

You rock, Neil!
Glorious Kiwis celebrating great music - love it, dragged me back to Piha and the summer sun!
Zane, a glorious interview. Thank you.
The interviewer is trying too hard. Neil Finn is brilliant; just ask him a question and let him speak.
Not one 'F' bomb from Neil. A real intelligent guy.
I know right. Neil comes across really well. The interviewer is trying way to hard with all the f bombs to be edgy. Just comes across as immature.
I've heard Neil use it..

Really one of the best interviews of Neil ever...just natural and relaxed. Well done!
Only natural?
Fall at your feet was my childhood Athem, Now in my Adulthood its Some greater plan ❤
Neil: Interesting, humble, eloquent & ever-pleasant.
Interviewer: Earnest, well-intentioned, verbose & keen to impress.
I can’t believe Neil Finn is old now I remember he used to be a handsome guy when I saw he’s old video when he sing don’t dream it’s over
See you at The Sydney Opera House Forecourt yet again Neil 🎉 I cannot wait for December and summer 🌺

zanes questioning boring .. Neil good with what was dished up , real pro
Which is the song that Neil said Mitchell Froom wanted to lead off the album?
Me encantan tus lentes tus ojos y tu mirada Dios te guarde suerte
Oh Dios te Amo cariño
Music is GOOD!
The language!
Had to suffer Zane Lowe just to be able to listen to Neil. Was worth the pain

Love that song and it's also my favourite ch album. It's got quite an indigenous feel so maybe a challenge to play live?
@ recorded iwith a local Māori tribe near or in NZ. There’s an amazing making of doc somewhere on YT
