- As we prepare ourselves to step things up, We didn't do any digging this time around. We are working on new ideas, trying to move older projects along to completion, and laying the groundwork for getting our own claims. I hope this helps somebody achieve a more reliable recirculating system. Let me know your thoughts. I STILL have 12 buckets from Claim #6 ready to throw in the box.

Now, this is one of the best videos I've seen. I've been wracking my brain to figure out the simplest, and most efficient way to transfer water like this. I never thought of a simple syphon! Thanks for going to the trouble!
I have done this before but without the 90s at the bottom..... stroke of genius my friend! Without the 90s at the bottom it is pretty aggravating to get started to say the least. May i suggest putting something in the middle of the last two containers to segregate them into two halfs. Seated from the bottom and below the surface of the water level (like a upside down T) and putting the pipes stagering,one on the left then one on the right then left etc. to prevent any tailings from vacuuming into the container with the pump. It will also allow the silt to settle out more by dampening the flow in the pools. Thanks for the tip. Hope you find gold in your pan! Best of luck to you.

Make your exchange pipes shorter this way you don't pick up silt and sand from bottom of tank, it still works great and the water stays way cleaner.

No, at the bottom the diameter of a 3" 90 is 4". I use a 4" #16 classifier siliconed to the end.
@@billbergstrom9355 Best (cleanest) water will be in the middle of the tubs as the heavies settle to the bottom and the floaters stay at the top. The goal is to move the cleanest water from one tube to the next. Also, your # 16 classifier is a potential plug problem.

I have wanted build one of these and I'm glad I watched this one more time. I was going to use 2" pipe and fittings. Even though the pump is 1200 gph I wouldn't want to have to re-do it. Thanks, this is brilliant.

Bob, just an observation, your pan has some very large riffles which is fine for larger gold. Try a Pioneer Blue pan 12" or 14" diameter. It has two different size riffles built in to the pan. This allows you to pan out the larger material until nothing is washing out, and then rotate the pan so the material is going over the smaller riffles. I think this will improves your capture rate on fine gold and speed up the panning process in general.

What a great idea.
Add 1/8th cup or less of pool flocculant to settle the silt, it last and last, one quart does a medium size pool. Environmentally friendly. Gravel yards and big mines use it. It's cheap. About $12 a quart. Keeps your matts and gear from build up. Increases pump life too.

I like the idea to be able to stack up quickly and get out of there but I think the end of the pipe going into the dirty bucket should be shorter so you don't suck dirt off of the bottom of the dirty bucket It might work better that way.
might be better if both where shorter.. say 6 inches off the bottom of the tanks ... it will lessen the disturbance of the sediment, from the outlet ... and draw cleaner water at the inlet
Dude…first off the NY accent. Music to my ears. What part of AZ are you at? I’m in the Tucson area and about to buy my first claim. Anyway, great idea for the Bernoulli connectors. So I built a suit like yours, with 4 tubs instead of 3. The 1st and second tubs have micro filters splitting the tub basically in half. I’ve found I can run pretty much all day like that, and I remove sludge when me and my son take a lunch break. I’ll post a video of my system on my new channel. Cheers!!

Just an observation, please take for what it is worth. I was just thinking..... if the PVC was alternated from one side to the other (meaning - from bucket 1 on near side then from bucket 2 on the far side), might that allow sediment the chance to fall out a little more before being siphoned to next bucket? Really like the setup! Thanks for the video!

Bob, great video, I needed a couple tips in regards to the muddy water highbanking issues here in AZ.I am hauling water for good gold now and using 2000 GPH pump. I think I will be able to filter much better now after watching this. Hope to see you here soon after you return from the Dakotas.

I am fairly disappointed that this is not the common practice in the desert, instead of flanges and silicone.... This is after all Old, Old science and the 2 oldest of mans practices..moving water and acquiring gold.

If that was 15 buckets I'm on a sweet spot cause that looks like a Colorado 2 bucket cleanup!
I will also add, that in the desert with cactus needles etc....I have a full width vertical screen, to block the vegetation between tubs...it stands between the inflow siphon and the outflow siphon,,,.and in the 3rd it stands between the inflow and the pump.....vegetation messes with my pump too much...it does not block it all, but it helps......
Smart brother....They need to make waterproof fabric folding totes. That you can fill with water....like the folding camping chairs or folding cots...but maybe put a screw plug to release the water on bigger models.......a folding tote would be a good idea not only for goldpanning....firefighting or other applications...and theyd pe portable.

Looks like complete overkill to me. Also, why transfer from the bottom where all the trash is? I use 1 slightly lower additional tub to to my trailing tub with a small spillway. My water is way cleaner than that.
Since you got that big ole pump i wonder if you could put a pentek filter with filter bags between it and the sluice to further polish the water. Not sure if it would make a big difference or if necessary to do that..

The way you water transfer system works between tanks is the theory of high to low concentration water is a very free flowing liquid and will do anything to maintain a balance of concentration if you lift one bucket higher then the rest it is a fact that bucket will empty completely if raised above toe tops of the rest
does 3 tubs really keep your water clean?
I have 2 big tubs with smaller tubs to catch tailings similar to yours. I cant keep water clean what so ever.. After a bucket of running dirt, the water is too muddy to see what is going on in the riffles..

It works...the tubs act like settling ponds. In theory, the more ponds in line the cleaner the water. The water, when recirculating, is going to get cloudy as soon as you start running material. Watch your sluice activity by testing your tailings looking for loss.

Would shortening the legs of the abs "U" cause any problems? I just thought this might help keep any sediment at the bottom from transferring between the bins and tearing up the pump's impeller over time.

Actually, I am going to make a much larger version of this concept for a trommel build I am putting together. The tanks are going to be 300 gallons each. I will shorten the intake side to bring cleaner water in and leave the discharge side longer to, hopefully, leave sediment towards the bottom. Great minds think alike Mike.

I made a recirculating sluice box and it works very well. ua-cam.com/video/68tMxwqTiZg/v-deo.html I made an improvement similar to yours using another bucket not so much for volume but keeping the water cleaner. I added to my buckets, not shown in video, a 2 inch drain ( 2 inch pipe connected as buckets seen in video connected) just under the lid of each about 3 inches down from top. They are very effective at removing much of the silt and other debris. I do have to add water while using the system to make it work but this is not a problem.
