Actually it is not underrated. It is very popular and well known in Russia and ex-USSR. Bad ratings of soviet military machines are forced by USA and British media "experts".
Dieser Sound ist einfach herrlich und auch vom Design sieht diese Yak-9 wunderschön aus! Klasse Video und Fang Olli! Daumen hoch und schöne Grüße aus Bayern! ;)

4:26 The Yak displays quite close to a 90 degree second roll: Similar to a P-40... Me-109G is about 80, and the P-51D around 60-70, probably 60 with ammo. The P-51B is closer to a 109G (at least to the right), but the P-51D was termed identical at all speeds (by the AFDU) to the Me-109G with 20 mm underwing gondolas... The D was extra heavy on the roll, and this is relatively little known. The later Spitfire IXs were similar to the D, around 60, yet the clipped XVIs are raved about by some Warbird pilots: I suspect some of the wing guns are lightweight mockups, or they revised something on the XVI besides clipping the wings...
It didn't win the war 😕 the best airplane is the one who helped win it....we normally don't give the MVP trophy to someone on the loosing team, the MVP most occasions comes from the winning team...no? 😉
@@MakhachSultanov I'm not sure how many HS 12Ys there are around but it would leave the replica Yaks underpowered as its hp output is almost 200 less than the Klimov was, while the Allison 1710s much more closely replicated the Klimov in its capabilities making for a much more authentic flying experience.
Is it just me or can anyone else see a passing resemblance to a Spitfire, Hurricane & Mustang? It looks like the designer took styling queues from all three.
There are a typical Yakovlev proportions of wings /tail/fuselage, cf Yak7b, Yak3. Especially the wing and tail are authentic, you may try to find some similarities with three Anglo-Saxon fighters you have mentioned, of course if you can😄😄.
i think soviet aircraft were overall better than german ones at that time everyone talks about how great spitfire was or how good bf-109 was but yak and lagg series was if not better it was as good as those but the pilots were kind of dumb and not educated well enough(well blame your uncle stalin) on the other hand german pilots were elite and knew what they were handling
The major downsides of Soviet aircraft, specifically the Yak, tend to be weaker armament (low ammo), poor high altitude performance, and poor dive performance. If you turn fight German aircraft below about 5,000 meters and can land your shots, it was definitely superior to current German counterparts.
Russian V12s lacked power, especially at high altitude, and pilots in Russian planes had to watch their speed in a dive or their wings might break off. For Yak pilots to be as successfully as they were I wonder if they retained energy better in turns compared to their German counterparts.

Beautiful and very underrated old Warbird.

@@ilyadurnev5586 that is true because the Yak 9 was also one the most produced planes of WW2 even taking air superiority over the luftwaffe
Def not. The yaks were power houses. Less ammo with bigger guns
The Yak-9 looks like a wild horse on take-off and landing. I like its wide landing gear design.

Good clip, and nice sound =).
Thank you, Robert! :)
The more I watch YAKs in flight the more impressed I am. 3s or 9s; don't care.😊
Awesome plane. I Like that star on the spinner.

Awesome! You don't see very many Yaks.
Question, does this example use wood in the same parts as the original or has it been retrofitted with metal for better preservation?
well THAT'S a good video!
Thank you! 🤗
Qué despegues y aterrizajes más moviditos!!!
Not the best looking of fighter's but very effective and this is a real treat thank you for posting greetings from steve in England 👍
Why not good looking? To me it's a very harmonious and compact, only a rudder looks a bit ancient.
Sorry, but the Yak1/3/9 design looks imho far better than the ugly Hawker Hurricane. But not as good as Spit/Mustang/FW190D. Regards from Germany 👋
Is this a varient or just the yak-9?
It's a Yak-9 UM
Yak-9 is hands down the Best Airplane of WW2- change my mind

Focke Wulf 190
It is silly to say that "One" plane was the best plane. It is too difficult to narrow down the best plane.
The best in what? Specifics matter.
@@starfighter1043You must have missed the memo: Yak-9 *was* on the winning team.
what is that sole rod sticking out the wing used for?
Looks like the pitot tube. It’s used for measuring the plane’s airspeed.
Is that fitted with a Allison? Definitely one of the underrated WWII fighters though.
Yes, it's fitted with a Allison engine.
Good catch
Not underrated at all.
Does this plane have the original engine?
No, it uses aliston or whatever it's called
It uses the American Allison V1710.
Damn, why is this not a Yak-9 with the original engine?!!!
Because there are no original engines available. ;)
@@knightflightvideo If there is no motor Klimov M-105 (VK-105), you can use Hispano-Suiza 12Y, from which it had its origin

@@MakhachSultanov and i believe that is why theres no 20mm gun hole on the spinner...?
It looks like too fast for landing
I land at fast speeds exactly like this in war thunder.

I don't really see it. Wings, elevators, tail and canopy all look uniquely 'yak' to me.
