Hello, I want to ask, If I want to use soil like yours do I have to change the soil regularly? because when I use sawdust I have to change it once a week. Thank you
See ive tried this inspired by you and have kept bioactive vivarium before but never with a hamster. my Hamster a Roborovski just doesn't seem to be able to adjust and settle. In the nearly month ive had her she has shown 0 burrowing behavior and just runs back and forth against the back wall every night all night only stopping for short periods to get food ive sprinkled about, ive even tired starting a burrow for it to use but it just completely ignores it. Any tips? Please help lmao i dont want to to be unhappy.
I imagine it is due to the roughness and texture of the ground. Robos are used to soft, sandy terrain. While the dwarf hamster in the video is from a similar environment, it has a bit more adaptability due to exposure to different environments. The Robo comes from the desert so it needs super soft, easy to dig material like sand.
@@mucusman7511 I see. I am no vet but in that situation, perhaps it woukd be best to consider returning her to a bin cage with soft bedding? Kaytee Clean and Cozy works for my robo fine, spends most of her time in the bedding in her tunnel. Sorry to hear your Robo isn't adjusting to your good efforts to give her a natural home, they are an akward breed at thecworst of times.
@@Gitsy18 well im just trying to undo the damage a life of captivity has done to it but its only marginally working so far. I will obviously return it to a normal cage if its health declines.
@Mucus man , offer half natural half bedding. this way, the hamster feels comfortable with familiar bedding, but the option for it to explore natural environment is there

Hamsters aren’t social creatures, they do not require social interaction from other hamsters. Hamsters will usually just fight to the death with another hamster, my friend had a hamster with half of his ear missing because of his brother.
