The Intrepid you were referring to and the one you showed are 2 entirely different ships, The one you depicted was actually an Essex Class Aircraft Carrier (CV-11) in WWII not a Hospital Ship.
Wrong Intrepid. The current USNS Comfort is also a converted tanker. Both ships are operated by the Military Sealift Command with civilian mariners. It takes a minimum of 5 days to get either of them ready to sail. They both do humanitarian missions. The Comfort just left for the Caribbean and the Mercy participates in the Pacific Partnership.
You missed the liner Aquitania during WW1, at a length of 900 ft and beds for 4011 patients, it's still the largest number ever carried on a single hospital ship.

The us comfort shown is a recent one and was deployed to NYC when covid hit.
I deployed on the Comfort in 2010 during operation united relief. It was not decomisioned in 1948.
