- -Gjáarrétt Iceland, a former sheep farm for the farmers of Hafnarfjörður and Álftanes, now a historic ruin.
-Krýsuvíkurkirkja was lost when lava flowed over a vast vegetated area, likely in the early part of the 11th century. There may have been a church in Krýsuvík in the 13th century. The settlement continued in Krýsuvík for centuries, and beneath it were numerous farmsteads. Krýsuvíkurkirkja served as a parish church until 1910. It was dismantled in 1917 and used as a residence from 1929. However, it was converted back into a church in 1963-64. Krýsuvíkurkirkja was transferred to the National Museum of Iceland for preservation in 1964.
-Herdísarvík The name means "bay of Herdís", a common Icelandic women's name, in this case, the name of a folk tale figure from the region with the remains of the farm and the former house of Einar Benediktsson is situated actually at the foot of Herdísarvíkurfjall Einar Benediktsson's poetry was a significant contribution to the nationalistic revival which led to Iceland's independence he lived out his days here until 1940.
-Staðarborg A sheep shelter, round in shape and constructed skillfully from lava rocks. Situated 2-3 km from the former parsonage Kalfatjorn in a direct line from there to Mt Dyngja. It is about two meters high, 8 m in diameter, and 35 m in circumference. The ground inside it is flat and covered with grass. No sources reveal its age, but it is considered to be a few centuries old. According to the legend, a man named Gudmundur built it for the reverend at Kalfatjorn.
