Whoa, when you mentioned how the devil wants us to react to spooky or paranormal things to open the door to fear, it really got me thinking. It’s not just about fear of a haunted house or something scary-it can apply to other areas too. For example, when you feel a strange symptom in your body, the devil wants you to accept it as a disease. Or even in situations like an argument with a spouse, he wants you to react in a way that creates division. That realization was a breakthrough moment for me-thank you for sparking this thought!
Whenever I argue with my wife, I'm reminded of Screwtapes letters and how the devil might be egging me on to sow discord in my house. I say a hail Mary and try to reconcile. I'm not perfect at it but it's a good step forward to peace in the home.
I love when the conversation shifted from this dark tone of evil to total dependence on God and His total Kingship. Beautiful conversation, thank you both
I had an exorcism done on me when I was 16 years old. It's true, when I reflect and look back I see how I gave the devil the door to come on in. Perhaps he also had authority for what ever reason, all I know is a did a lot of things to open that door. But I agree with what he said about it all being for God's glory! My husband told me that the things ive gone through are what brought him into the church, nothing goes to waste! So glory to God!
I do believe the term Catholics use is “jurisdiction.” You can give jurisdiction to demons to inhabit your body or your home by “opening the door” in the way you say. But the act of dabbling in the occult, for example, is more than just opening the door. It’s opening the door and inviting the devil inside. I think the term jurisdiction is so fitting in that regard. They have a “right” to be there precisely because God gives us free will. We use our free will to choose to invite the devil inside, and God allows it because he doesn’t force his love upon those who don’t want it. But sometimes, seeing the natural consequence of rejecting God’s love is precisely what we need in order to desire God’s love. Praise God. When we question any God allows evil, remember this. It brings many more to God.
My 3 2:00 favourite exorcists, fr. Vincent Lampert, Reehill always say that you must ignore the demons, focus on Christ, and teach the possessed people about Christ. That is their goals
Expert and saint exorcists all agree that sometimes they have to speak of the devil in order to end in speaking of Jesus Christ. This is because modern people, especially youth, is largely attracted by "devil" and the "occult", so they use the devil as a joint to arrive to Jesus Christ. And furthermore, because most people (even some catholics) don't believe in the devil's actual existence, they need to be reminded. The history of salvation is incomprehensible without the fallen angels' existence.
This is really a uniquely freeing take on spiritual warfare and the devil's tactics. Strength through faith in the victory of Christ vs weakness manifest through fear. Very beautifully presented!
I came to Jesus through deliverance and this information needs to be put there…the devil has a foothold in this generation and at least people have information to sift through. This was not available to me when I needed it 15 years ago. Praise God He never failed me and I still received freedom….but wow…what I went through…🤯
Just putting out a friendly message for anyone with OCD or adjacent anxieties watching this- intrusive thoughts are NOT possessions. You are NOT possessed. ❤ it’s okay. It’s your brain working overtime as a religious person. And of course, he doesn’t say that OCD is a form of the devils work, I just wanted to reassure any anxious people watching because this video would have personally made me freak out before having my OCD under control.
I have OCD too. Worse than that, I have bipolar disorder, and I had to deal with every sort of imagination during my maniacal episodes. Wise priests must guide people to think a million times before suspecting they have anything related to the evil one. And possibly bless them, custom that has gone lost in these last decades.
@@PawelPanufnik intrusive thoughts are entirely biologically normal but obsessive and guilt induced ones are a result of ocd, which is also biological, just not necessarily “normal”. It’s an incredibly painful existence and that is a trial enough. OCD is never demonic possession- ever, period. I would agree that us sufferers of OCD can be toyed with by demons telling us to not trust in the Lord, His plan, and his gifts to us in the form of therapy and psychiatric care ❤️ God Bless!!
@@fairyprincess1 hi! i agree with you in what you said about intrustive thoughts not being possessions, but i think for sure could be demons just bringing crazy thoughts to your/my/peoples' head.. however, i've heard people who do deliverance say that if when you hear these thoughts, instead if hearing thoughts like "i should XYZ" (first person) you heard "we should do XYZ" then you probably do need deliverance.. let me clarify i don't mean from OCD.. i'm talking about dangerous or self-harm thoughts.. i haven't watched the video yet, i ran to the comments first 😅 but also not trying to diagnose anyone! just giving my 2 cents on what i've heard.. glad you were able to get your OCD under control 💓
@ yes absolutely dangerous and harmful thoughts can be from the devil, I never said otherwise. I just meant OCD is not from the devil (as in a “possession”) other than that it is a result of the Fall. Many people with OCD worry that they have been possessed or cursed. I was just reassuring those people that it’s not the case. It can be very harmful to scare people with OCD about things like this, so I was simply worried about those specific people.
This was the perfect way to discuss exorcisms. It brought the light onto the subject, rather than focusing on the darkness and creating more fear that we are trying to get away from. LOVED this, thank you Lila ❤
Fr. Ripperger has said that when people have psychological wounds the demons are drawn to that they dont necessarily have to have permission. That is ny understanding that that can happen in some cases.
The wounds attract the demons, but they cannot get in without implicit or explicit consent from you or someone with authority over you. What people forget is that mortals gives them permission, we often forget that because so often we are spared from that outcome. No one becomes possessed without God allowing it for their sanctity. God 100% of the time is using the experience to help draw the person back to him. Sometimes the other way to get someone to reach for God and his mercy is to allow them to get a glimpse of hell.
Thank you for kicking off 2025 with this Dr. Sean Tobin podcast! No pressure, but thank you so much for your incredible dedication making at least two podcasts every week, Lila! Excellent topic imo! I've been praying daily for U.S.All and everywhere in my Rosary and during the day asking for help with spiritual battles to stay close to God, the source of all Goodness. He is Goodness. He is Love, and He loves each and every one of us, individually, no matter who we are, or what we've done or whatever our story is, far more than all people on Earth could love us combined. He wants us to be free from the enslavement to darkness. I hope this is helpful to keep in mind when there are those trying to tear away at truth and cause confusion where this Bible verse could be thought of regarding uncharitable deconstructionist "Well, actually's"...where I think the first envious deconstructionist was the devil with his first words: Genesis 3:1 "Now the snake was the most cunning of all the wild animals that the Lord God had made. He asked the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You shall not eat from any of the trees in the garden?”" 2 Peter 3:15-16 And consider the patience of our Lord as salvation, as our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, also wrote to you, speaking of these things as he does in all his letters. In them there are some things hard to understand that the ignorant and unstable distort to their own destruction, just as they do the other scriptures. 2 Timothy 4:1-5 I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingly power: proclaim the word; be persistent whether it is convenient or inconvenient; convince, reprimand, encourage through all patience and teaching. For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine but, following their own desires and insatiable curiosity, will accumulate teachers and will stop listening to the truth and will be diverted to myths. John 14:30-31 I will no longer speak much with you, for the ruler of the world is coming. He has no power over me, but the world must know that I love the Father and that I do just as the Father has commanded me. Get up, let us go. I pray these prayers for everyone here every day (I'd post more but they don't work!)- Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Jesus Christ is the mediator, and I believe our Blessed Mother Mary can lead us to Him. She prays for us on our way to Him. When I refer to Mary as my mother, please know I am not taking away respect due to my one and only God, Lord Jesus Christ. I believe loving people Jesus loves helps us love Him more, so the more I love Mary, the more I love God, and Jesus gave Mary to us as our mother on the Cross. John 19: 26-27 When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. Mother Mary, the first Christian with her choice to say "yes" to my one and only God's will, I believe she is the number 1 model for sainthood for both men and women. She did God's will perfectly in every respect from the moment of her conception, listening to every single one of His commands. Her choice to say "yes" Luke 1:38 Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her. to God's will ushered in salvation for the world, and she did so knowing the sacrifices and sufferings that would result from her decision, but, humbly, accepted the privilege of containing the God of the Universe her womb, and then becoming Jesus' most intimate friend, companion, and greatest consolation while on Earth. She was the devil's ultimate humiliation! I believe God is the King of the universe, having all power of the universe, but God chose Our Lady, a humble lowly woman the privilege of crushing the head of the devil. Mary is not God, but she is a saint, and being that she is with Jesus in Heaven, I ask for her intercession to our Lord (and for sake of brevity, I'll say I "pray to Mary"), similar to how I'd ask people to pray for me (please do! I'm a broken sinner in need of many prayers), but I trust she is a saint in Heaven so I believe it is helpful to ask for her help, especially being so close to her Son. There is only one God. He is the source of all good. He is Goodness. He is Love! Glory be to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of Thy mercy. Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God’s love entrusts me here, ever this day be at my side,to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen. Thank you again, Lila! Hope you, your family, and everyone here has a very Merry New Year and has a light-filled peaceful joyful blessed Happy Fun Faith-over-Fear Freedom Friday and wonderful weekend!
I think perhaps though that God doesn't allow you to be cursed by evil if you're fully committed to God's will? Different from God giving you a cross to bear to help fight against evil though with God's love of course.
Interesting and multilayered conversation. Thank you both for your contributions. With that said, your constructs must be more clearly defined, operationally and symbolically. I sense more questions and confusions are effected vs answered. Just love this process. Dr. Philip A, Licensed Clinical Psychologist; Nashville, TN
@deanaburnham9571 I don't see any Candace in Lila. She is a person of her own and a woman of valour. Unless she starts saying, ' I am just asking questions', otherwise, she is Lila.
I have concerns about some of the claims he is making. For example that the faith of the person indicates the effectiveness of the exorcism (around the 34 minute mark). Earlier he also stated that demonic oppression only occur by actions one takes or doors that they have opened. Both of these go directly against what Fr. Ripperger and other exorcists have said. He clearly has a good heart and I understand what he is saying, but he needs to be more careful and maybe predicate it by saying “In my experience…” because I don’t think this is entirely accurate. At 37 minutes you talk about “nothing can touch us” if we belong to the Lord. That is not true. Look at Job, for example. Again, Fr. Ripperger talks about that as well. The weakness of the Church is also a factor.
Fr. Rippinger isn't God not is he the only exorcist priest in the catholic church, west and eastern catholics. We are told to discern spirits, do not rely on one priest only but seek truth from Jesus, read the catechism of the catholic church and ask God to hdlp you find a holy spiritual director you can speak with regularly in person, not just viewing online . There are other exorcist priests who do not publicise only about exorcism but quietly exorcise in God's power. Bless you and may God draw you closer to Him in His great love and wisdom.
I really appreciate your insights!! In my humble opinion there were no inaccuracies on Dr Tobin's part, but rather a need for greater clarification. One for instance is that nothing can touch us without God permitting it. It does not mean He's pleased that someone or something has harmed us. He permits free use of one's will. Destructive people misuse their will to hurt other beings. So yes, evil can touch us---but, it cannot of itself, snatch away our soul from Christ.
The Devil baits the hook. We foolishly take a bite if we don't discern the truth. Like the alien abduction recollections, it appears telepathy is used by the parasitic demons. Jesus saves!
Mark 9:14-29, the last exorcism of the Gospel clearly places the issue of faith at the centre of this exorcism, the disciples being unable to perform the exorcism (ostensibly through unbelief, 1:19) and the exorcism itself only occuring after the father of the possessed child confesses faith before Jesus. So we should not be too quick to judge this excellent talk.
@@r.com.9795 Who and how is this "excellent talk" being judged? I ask respectfully. Forgive me please, but your statement -- ending as such -- seems disjointed and irrelevant.
Thank you for sharing. Im a recovering alcoholic. I believe i my first drink was at age 14-15. Then at age 18 i began drinking on fridays & saturdays. At age 24-25 i was drinking in excess. And i didnt knowv why i couldnt control the drinking or even stop drinking. I was out of control. I was insane & a miserable man. But then at age 45 i completely stopped drinking. And my brain & body began to heal & restore itself. All thanks to JESUS. Now i know i was possed & controlled by satan & his demons. Im a way better person now. I learned to rebuke satan & the demons. I learned about the celestial courts of heavan. I i learned about the BLOOD OF JESUS. I am not ignorant any more. ALL GLORY BE TO MY LORD & SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST 🙏
Yes, it does matter how the demon got through the door, but it’s the exorcist’s job to determine why and how they were invited in. It’s the psychiatrist’s/ psychologist’s job to help the victim sort through the traumatic or psychological issues with the victim. Things will always appear unfair to us, especially when it appears to be a generational sin involved. It makes even more sense when Protestantism has no theological foundation of venial versus mortal sins, and mortal sins definitely act as gateways. But as exorcists have stated before, it’s not our job to determine what’s unfair, at the end of the day, it’s what God wills. We will at times, never understand why God permits things to happen. Fr. Ripperger should come on and help clarify this psychologist’s perspective. Fr. Ripperger has a psychological background.
This guy knows psychology. And he does acknowledge demonic influence. That said, I’d want an exorcist to deal with demonic possession. No way, no how would I want this guy dealing with the demonic after it already got a foothold. Why would this guy choose to set up a division between exorcists and psychologists?
As someone who lost their Father during crucial years and who has a Mother lost to addiction - Learning about and developing a relationship with Lord Jesus and Holy Mother Mary has truly been life changing. I read my Bible everyday and I pray the Rosary everyday to maintain that closeness. They truly love us in ways we cannot even comprehend.
@@LM_Laiz Does the Lord promise Eternal Life or Death? Was his Mother, the woman who bore and birthed the Lord, not with him? So to say Holy Mother Mary is dead is serious blasphemy and you're denying the Lords Promise to Christians. I suggest you learn your theology. God Bless
Dr Tobin is clearly compassionate & well-meaning, but he sounds rather naive as well. Questioning why exorcisms today require multiple sessions while Jesus was able to cast a demon out immediately is a silly comparison. Plus, modern exorcists have commonly lamented about how the extreme level of sin today & weakening faith in the Church is empowering our enemies. Additionally, to attribute the legitimate damage caused by curses as the result of mere superstition seems like a rather dangerous diagnosis. Besides pictures moving around on his office walls, I wonder if Dr Tobin has ever actually experienced the extreme horror of pure hatred described by so many exorcists & their assistants when speaking about their encounters in session. It would be interesting to hear Kyle Clement’s response to Dr Tobin’s theories.
My concern too I thought I was reacting wrongly. This could even get people thinking my actions have no consequences. Don’t risk it our actions could have generational curses. I won’t risk it. Sticking on the straight and narrow path right next to Jesus!
This is the podcast we've been needing with all of the recent emphasis on the demonic and exorcists. Thank you so much. I'd love more interviews with Dr. Tobin. We can't discount the psyche as it is part of our souls. It must be a work between the godly psychologist and the priest.
Wow I’ve been waiting for this my whole life. Like I always felt so lonely with like my struggle against darkness and like just felt like I was the only one. I mean as time went on like I started to see I’m not as much the only one as I thiught I was. I’m not a Catholoc, I’m a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but yeah Lila Rose you have such AWSOME truths you help me know!! I felt so called out in this video!! I’m so superstitios and like yeah I’ve had a fear of like stuff that reminded me of what I was suffering like ever since I decited to try to fight it. And I have so many superstitions and I don’t even know what I am thinking at this point which is wild but this video helped me realize a bit of them as I thought about it. I’ve always been annoyed at poeple being all like “oooo spooky” about stuff with demons cuz I felt like I was just someone suffering and the type of thing I suffer with while with things like a physical or mental injury people woulf go through”ah I’m sorry” with my type of pain theyd just treat me like a spooky story. I accually worked otherworldly hard to tell people about it and like some were just nice and some just started acting wierd and then like my parents were just invalidating me. Took me to mental health place and thy misdiagnosed me cuz they thought I was saying I hear accual voices when I don’t, they are like voices in my imagination. The main point of my struggle is accually related to fasination with demons so I know I have that which makes me mad and also scared and so its just like a loop. But yeah like this could really help me cuz like this is showing me like a shifted perspective where I can think about how awsome God is when this subject comes up!! Like my main weakness seems to be like trusting myself instead of God cuz I always felt alone in like knowing about what is right and what love is so from like when I was super tini I just like made sure I didn’t trust anyone and my experiances with spiritual warfare accually get me to like try and rely on Christ as much as possible which taught me that He IS The Way The Truth and The Light cuz that’s when I would find the light inside. Also a ton of other experiances that just happened “line upon line”. Yeah I have the thing where I see Jesus in my imagination too and He gave me messages about how He is stronger then the enimy which is cool. But man this video was RELATABLE. Jesus is defenetly The Best and my favorite!! I do think I should chainge my beliefs to rely on Him more and trust in Him more by like making my beliefs alined with the truth that He is completely reliable. I literally got off of sugar to try to make this better, and while it didn’t like solve the problem I accually like my choice of no sugar and healthy foods are yummy now.
I thought that as well. I was wondering if it was just me seeing this as them saying things that I have never once heard from Fr. Dan Reehil or Fr. Carlos Martins. They have never (as far as I've seen)claimed that you only get possessed by someone else doing something when you were a kid. They always teach about how you can be responsible for things that happen (mortal sin, occult, etc) and sometimes it can happen through others when you were a child. They have also always spoken about healing. How they will NOT just do an exorcism, it is a process and they are careful and in the end it is bringing the person closer to Christ to truly heal them, that person has to do the work to change internally as well. Because if they do not change the root of the problem, it will come back and get worse. This interview confused me a lot, not only did it seem like shade was being thrown, but the claims they were making were completely false, at least regarding the exorcists I have seen/learned from.
There are so many ppl that casually dabble in the occult. There are so many old standing (and brand new) occult businesses that are in my neighborhood. Something profound and touching (and sometimes jarring) is necessary to interrupt this danger. And if this segment of people are not already touched by the beauty of God, then chances are you’ll only interrupt their behavior with the ugliness of the devil. So while the surge of new “exorcist podcasts” may be a marketing campaign, I’m not convinced it’s to the devils benefit.
Our Lord Jesus Christ is fighting for us and we work with the Holy Spirit 🕊🕊🕊. 2 Timothy 1:7 “God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but the Spirit of power and love and self-control.”
22:30 I experienced these unknown situations before. I suspected what they were but I wasn't sure. Oppression, affliction, and some loss of faculties. I have experienced them all. Until I sought God, I never knew that these experiences were definitely External effects of internal issues. I was not living righteously. So there were many handholds for them to grip on to. When I began learning how to pray the our father prayer. My tongue would not let me say the sentence "as we forgive those who trespass against us." But it was only when I was praying that I would not be able to say it.
@@GaserBeam-hi4ez no not really. God may permit something in our lives if can contribute to our growth in sanctity. God knows exactly what our soul needs. God would not allow something that would damage us, for no purpose. Everything we go through has a precise purpose.
Fr Ripperger work brought me into the faith. His videos on virtue and the spiritual life are conferences to listen to over and over again. His exorcist conferences are also highly informative and very measured.
It is so true it is the mind and the emotions that the evil spirits are trying to hold because when I opened my soul to the devil by just a few words I said. I only said, "if it is the devil that will make look pretty so be it". That already opened my soul to the devil and the entity immediately had a hold of me. The evil spirit is just right there on your side same as our guardian angel. The signs that I immediately noticed on myself was I do not like to look at sacramentals or pictures of our Lord Jesus Christ and Mother Mary. I started having big pimples on my face that I never would have, so much anger building up in me.
Personal Notes: 00:33:46 - Quantity vs Quality of faith 00:34:43 - Superstitious faith vs relationship with Jesus 00:40:08 - Prayer 00:41:44 - Physical War vs Spiritual War 00:43:27 - Pregnancy and Passivity 00:45:25 - We expect a great power struggle 00:46:36 - Clinical examples 01:00:34 - Sometimes it takes years of exorcisms, sometimes 1 session 01:07:10 - Thomas Merton and the Spirituality of Satan 01:15:59 - Closing in prayer
51:00 As John had lived the longest and had probably read the other Gospels, He may not have deemed it necessary to go over material that had already been covered beyond what was the written gospels at that time
The fact that he is calm is good enough for me. There’s a lot of fear mongering out there and it says it very clearly in the Bible. Do not fear. What does it mean to sit in the middle of the boat? What does it mean to literally be OK walking on water? anybody reading the scripture or are we just here to criticize calmness?
If demons have rights it's because God allows for free will for the person to give it to them. So by working out where in their or your life you are not choosing God, you can rescind them? May God protect us all and help us heal and rescind any areas where we aren't completely accepting of God's will
I felt like this was a subtle criticism of our public exorcists. He should have just said I disagree with fr Ripperger in this area because, or i like msgr Rosetti but sometimes I prefer a different method. Bring it out into the light with respect and dignity instead of covertly sewing doubt.
I know it's not necessarily your fault, but between your ads and YT ads, this was interrupted every couple minutes and got really aggravating. I don't know if you can do anything about it. It's such a serious topic, it broke the flow and I gave up.
Another reason that people don’t respond to medication could be that they have genetic anomalies such as being a rapid metabolizer of sertraline, escitalopram, I hope clients are also screened for things like this.
The title of this is problematic. I think exorcists are giving first hand experience and if you're not one, you really can't say you know better. Speak from your area of expertise, no need to try to "correct" exorcists.
Yes, father Ripperger get him on your show. He’s the voice of reason he’s fantastic. Please get him on your show. As for fear, you just said not to fear, and then you also said that the thing that stopped you from certain Nicole things was fear. So what’s the answer? That’s a mixed message
Pray, repent from sins, accept the Sacraments and accept God’s grace. If you’re living a good Christian life, you’re doing everything you can. Trust in God and don’t worry! Demons will always try to establish compatibility with you. They know you better than you do. They don’t forget and can see everything God permits them to, on a micro level. They cannot read thoughts but know our physiology well. If God didn’t hold them on a leash, we’d all be possessed. Do your part by not opening doors and keeping Christ close is key.
Hmm. Dr. Tobin seems to place a lot of faith in EMDR - if you listen carefully to this interview (and also browse his website), he mentions it as what he is using with his patients, and this gives me pause. People should actually research this. EMDR is a rather controversial, modern technique for dealing with PTSD based on moving your eyes back and forth while talking about your trauma; a process which is repeated with various bells and whistles (tapping or buzzing or other methods of bilateral stimulation) until you say you feel better. Almost ritualistic in nature. It was developed by a woman named Francine Shapiro who got her psych PhD through a non-accredited diploma mill, and after surviving cancer did a deep dive into new age healing and eventually while walking in a park one day just observing changes in her own thoughts based on how her eyes were moving, discovered the amazing EMDR technique 👀 yeah. Even she said she didn’t know how or why it worked. Some people say this “therapy” makes them much better while others say it makes them much worse. Possibly the instances of it working are a result of the placebo effect; in going through the motions people feel that they have gained some control over themselves and thus they feel better. That’s fine if that is all it is, but the fact that Dr. Tobin is such a fan of it makes me doubt his professional and intellectual maturity. A Christian psychologist should champion the power of prayer rather than pseudo-scientific treatment fads of dubious origin.
There is a plenty of research that proves that EMDR works and scientists do understand now why. What I will say that is that it can be harmful to someone who has a severe dissociative barrier. My husband had a premature penetration of his dissociative barrier that caused a flood of suppressed memories and caused him to go into a psychosis. EMDR has it's place but truly people should be highly evaluated for dissociative disorders first which rarely happens. Dissociative disorders are far more common then people realize, which is backed by recent research.
I believe it I believe the enemy can or im intimidated by his power. Therefore, he begins to have power in my life. Iv done that iv seen that trust in God focus on God
I had so much fear in the devil I blessed my house with holy water but I felt so much fear one morning I woke looked at the foot of my bed saw a tall dark silhouette of a man I quickly pulled up my blanket saying if it’s a dream I’ll wake if it’s the devil God will protect me I believe in my fear of him my focus on him I unintentionally invited him into my home but this only happened once I continue to pray over my family my house and I believe God protects us
I do believe healing or deliverance is based on faith. However that faith has to come from the priest first. The apostle could not cast out a demon because of their lack of faith.
Why does it come from the priest first? I don't think only a priest can cast out demons. I think priests are the best at it because their faith is stronger than most.
@OriginalMeanGirl not All are strong in the faith. I know many priests that are questionable. There is a order of things to take place. The priest is there to cast out an evil spirit. The evil spirit will put all kinds of doubt in their head so you can't rely on that persons faith even though their faith may be strong, the priests are the ones in control. It has to come from the priests first. It was written " I know Jesus and I've heard of Paul, but who are you?"
@@richhuzy6592 so what do you do if say you live in a house that's 'haunted' for lack of a better term and there's not a priest available? Can it not be dealt with any other way?
@OriginalMeanGirl absolutely. We know that we have direct access to the father through Jesus Christ. If Christ is in you and you are in Christ, ( very important to examine yourself). You are the light of this world. They hate light. Understand the scriptures to know what this means. If you do live in a haunted house and don't want to then I encourage you to get to know the Lord like if you were starting a relationship with a friend. Ask him to come in and seek the kingdom of God first.
@@richhuzy6592 I do understand the scriptures, or at least the Protestant version. By that version you can rid your home of demons without a priest. However, I've witnessed the difference in a Protestant preacher vs a priest trying that and the Catholic version is more effective. I was raised Prot. but am married to a Catholic. I will say the Catholic faith is overwhelming, because I feel like I'm still trying to understand the ins and outs. Thanks for your response. 😊
Such an arrogant video title to imply Dr. Tobin knows more than ordained priest exorcists. I didn't feel comfortable with him last podcast either, speaking on miracles and word of faith type healing. Feels like what I left in many Protestant churches.
conveniently these videos of paranormal things happening are never captured. That’s my problem. They can never capture it. We’re just supposed to take this person’s word for it.
Thank you for posting this. I've been uneasy about the whole "celebrity exorcist" phenomenon lately. While I think these exorcists mean well by warning people about the real dangers of the occult, I'm afraid it can backfire by encouraging an unhealthy fascination with the demonic.

Your guest was getting into full bodied answers to questions you kept firing at him. I am sorry to say it, but you didn't let him complete his train of thoughts on the subject by your jumping to another and another question, where he could have delivered a more revealing answer. The interview was quite frustrating to listen to in the first half for the reason i have outlined.
Since when does a psychologist know more about demons than an exorcist who by definition is a CHURCH APPOINTED EXPERT on the subject? You are encouraging people to trust other people and human knowledge/power instead of keeping their faith in God and His Holy Church.
Not only that, but a number of Exorcist priests *also* have a psychology degree. Most of what is learned regarding the tactics of demons is learned by being an Exorcist/in the deliverance ministry. I have dealt with demonic possession personally, & have not found anything Fr Ripperger (for example) has said on the topic of spiritual warfare incorrect.
Yeah, I don't like him. He sounds like what the secular world wants to do. Get rid of satan. Don't speak of him. Don't think of him well, we already tried that it hasn't worked.
Trust in God is obviously insufficient in exorcising the diabolic/demonic. E.g., See Job. Tormented, in pain, extraordinary losses, and he trusted our Lord. There are forces and circumstances beyond our understanding and trust in GOD does not exorcise these afflictions.
I'd try to warn about the crying out loud "symptons" of a already set Overton Window here. But... Well... Enjoy - Mr. Priests in particular - being sucked into the exorcism "com-mu-ni-ty..."rabbit hole. Isaiah 29.18; 35.5; 42.7; 66.5; 1John 1.8; 5.13-15
I really wish Catholics would stop saying anything along the lines of fear God. God is love and in love there is no room for fear. Love is selflessness, fear is selfish concern over how things may affect us. God does not want your fear and does not want you to fear, God wants your love and that means to serve God in the same selfless manner that God serves you. Those who say fear is a part of love are those who are concerned with being hurt by giving love, and ultimately do harm to those they love. Like an overbearing parent who is so terrified of something happening to their child, because of how it will make the parent feel, that they do not allow their child to live life (including a life of love through service to others because those others may harm their children). I love Catholics and Baptists and other "God hearing" Christians but that is not the message Jesus brought us from God, God is the loving and forgiving Father and thus not deserving of fear, for that is an entirely negative connotation. No one who is a kind and loving person wants to be told others are afraid of them. Is God's power unbelievably awesome, of course, but through our mere creation (something entirely unnecessary for an all knowing, all powerful, eternal being to do) God has shown God only wants to use that power to love and serve us.

They understand it. You need to remember that each demon has it's own mission and Satan is the battlefield commander. They also know that they can't repent and recieve Gods mercy the way us humans can. Demons are basically soldiers that have no choice. Either do what Satan says or face heavy punishment.
Bless your heart. I must warn you for presuming demons are like us since it could be a possible stronghold for them to use later. Watch the movie ”Nefarious” and read Job again. They know its evil to hurt people, they not only dont care about hurting people but take delight in it and whats worse is they are specially prideful in letting humans do it so they can prove a point to God. Satan and his minions are only after sinning because it suits a purpose.
And this is the mindset of the people that are going to be running this country. We really are screwed. Wow.
Good point
A Catholic exorcism?
@Rain-xe5vr It was not. I am a Catholic now. But not back then.
Reehill thinks Medugorje is valid. What a stunning lack of discernment! It's so obviously a SCAM!
I love Fr Carlos Martins❤ Loved the conversation with him on your podcast.

Pfft Carlos Martins says he prays in 'tongues.' The very idea of it, what garbage.
He’s one of those exorcists that leaves the listeners solid and confident in Christ, not fearful. So thankful for him.

It could be demonic obssession.

Fr. Ripperger has said that when people have psychological wounds the demons are drawn to that they dont necessarily have to have permission. That is ny understanding that that can happen in some cases.

Father Ripperger is the top-of-the-line exorcist, and he would have better answers than any of them I think
Psychological wounds can cause someone to lose faith, hope or charity. That is what gives the permission.
Dr. Tobin is a gem in the psychiatric world. I hope he becomes a psychiatric doctor to help more people
This is SO SO accurate!!! Relationship with Jesus heals all wounds!!!
And that might not happen all at once. It is over time in God's perfect timing! ❤
I hope this is helpful to keep in mind when there are those trying to tear away at truth and cause confusion where this Bible verse could be thought of regarding uncharitable deconstructionist "Well, actually's"...where I think the first envious deconstructionist was the devil with his first words:
Genesis 3:1 "Now the snake was the most cunning of all the wild animals that the Lord God had made. He asked the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You shall not eat from any of the trees in the garden?”"
2 Peter 3:15-16 And consider the patience of our Lord as salvation, as our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, also wrote to you, speaking of these things as he does in all his letters.
I pray these prayers for everyone here every day (I'd post more but they don't work!)-
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Her choice to say "yes"
Luke 1:38 Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.

I would love to see Lila have on Fr Chad Ripperger. He is an exorcist who has been a guest on many podcasts.
He is the best!
Sometimes one can have a curse put on them and their life, not knowing it, and their life can be harmed. It is not always the person letting it in.
I think perhaps though that God doesn't allow you to be cursed by evil if you're fully committed to God's will? Different from God giving you a cross to bear to help fight against evil though with God's love of course.

@deanaburnham9571 I don't see any Candace in Lila. She is a person of her own and a woman of valour. Unless she starts saying, ' I am just asking questions', otherwise, she is Lila.
Pope St. John Paul II said to the effect that: Holiness is mainly what God does in us but not without our "Cooperation."

You’re right let the exorcist clarify. A few concerning statements
How can you have a relationship with Mary if she’s dead?
@@LM_Laiz Does the Lord promise Eternal Life or Death? Was his Mother, the woman who bore and birthed the Lord, not with him? So to say Holy Mother Mary is dead is serious blasphemy and you're denying the Lords Promise to Christians. I suggest you learn your theology. God Bless
The intersection of faith and mental illness should be studied. Thanks for being so bold! I’m going to listen a second time and take notes!
Chaos is stability for them, well said.
Not to mention Jesus's own disciples couldn't cast out demons. "Only with much prayer and fasting." So not immediately.
My concern too I thought I was reacting wrongly. This could even get people thinking my actions have no consequences. Don’t risk it our actions could have generational curses. I won’t risk it. Sticking on the straight and narrow path right next to Jesus!
I love work. I love your faith, conviction and defence for the catholic faith. God bless you and your work sister ❤
This is the podcast we've been needing with all of the recent emphasis on the demonic and exorcists. Thank you so much. I'd love more interviews with Dr. Tobin. We can't discount the psyche as it is part of our souls. It must be a work between the godly psychologist and the priest.
Fr Gary Thomas is wonderful to listen to his demeanor is so humble and loving
A wonderful talk. Thank you both.
Why does this come off as a subtle attack? I've learned a lot from exorcists and I'm very thankful for them.
Yep
This is one of my favorite episodes!
Good and sanctified exorcists all agree that sometimes they have to speak of the devil to end in speaking about Jesus Christ.
Exorcists like Father Ripperger are very clear that God has the evil one on a rope. God allows things. It’s not our belief. It’s his plan
That’s kind of messed up tbh.
@@GaserBeam-hi4ez Yes, it is a Catholic and a Mormon belief. Pentecostal Protestants do not agree with that opinion..

His exorcist conferences are also highly informative and very measured.
what a conversation, thank you both for sharing Glory to Jesus who is so good.

The interviewer shouldn't mix fear of the dark side (which leads to bondage) with "Fear of the Lord" which leads to freedom.

If you not a Catholic priest ordained by the bishop as an exorcist....
YOU NOT AN EXORCIST
The fact that he is calm is good enough for me. There’s a lot of fear mongering out there and it says it very clearly in the Bible. Do not fear. What does it mean to sit in the middle of the boat? What does it mean to literally be OK walking on water? anybody reading the scripture or are we just here to criticize calmness?
Thank you for this!
If demons have rights it's because God allows for free will for the person to give it to them. So by working out where in their or your life you are not choosing God, you can rescind them? May God protect us all and help us heal and rescind any areas where we aren't completely accepting of God's will
Fr. Ripperger is a great resource because he's an exorcist and psychologist
I felt like this was a subtle criticism of our public exorcists. He should have just said I disagree with fr Ripperger in this area because, or i like msgr Rosetti but sometimes I prefer a different method. Bring it out into the light with respect and dignity instead of covertly sewing doubt.
True
I know it's not necessarily your fault, but between your ads and YT ads, this was interrupted every couple minutes and got really aggravating. I don't know if you can do anything about it. It's such a serious topic, it broke the flow and I gave up.
Another reason that people don’t respond to medication could be that they have genetic anomalies such as being a rapid metabolizer of sertraline, escitalopram, I hope clients are also screened for things like this.
I'm curious. Does someone being from a spiritually dark country make them a higher risk for demons to bother them?
Yes, I feel this too. Berlin for example is such dark place and makes attacks easier.
Yes, of course. Read Exodus 20
This is by far my most favorite episode ❤it was awesome! I loved every learning moment
The title of this is problematic. I think exorcists are giving first hand experience and if you're not one, you really can't say you know better. Speak from your area of expertise, no need to try to "correct" exorcists.
This guy is soo nervous it actually becomes a hard time hearing him
Yes, father Ripperger get him on your show.
Dr Tobin is giving Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker haha!
Right because this maybe 30 year old inexperienced kid knows better than people like Fr Malachi and others in the business 40+ years 😅
The fear of the Lord is different then the fear that keeps us captive 24:35

Adam & Eve….Adam-was right behind her, Close enough to hear what she was saying, but far enough away not to see who she was talking to.
45:27 Isn't part of our striving to reach him? A way for us to overcome our own fleshly desires. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.
Yeah I believe this too but it’s true that sometimes we do it in the wrong way and being still is the answer
I don't get the title...
Hmm.
I had so much fear in the devil I blessed my house with holy water but I felt so much fear one morning I woke looked at the foot of my bed saw a tall dark silhouette of a man I quickly pulled up my blanket saying if it’s a dream I’ll wake if it’s the devil God will protect me I believe in my fear of him my focus on him I unintentionally invited him into my home but this only happened once I continue to pray over my family my house and I believe God protects us
Same only I’m not Catholic so I’ve never used holy water.
I need this oppression of poverty lifted.
Fr. Rossetti has a UA-cam video with that specifically
I have but a single question to Dr. Tobin. How many real exorcisms have you had to see and do in your lifetime?
Such an arrogant video title to imply Dr. Tobin knows more than ordained priest exorcists. I didn't feel comfortable with him last podcast either, speaking on miracles and word of faith type healing. Feels like what I left in many Protestant churches.

Thank you for posting this. I've been uneasy about the whole "celebrity exorcist" phenomenon lately. While I think these exorcists mean well by warning people about the real dangers of the occult, I'm afraid it can backfire by encouraging an unhealthy fascination with the demonic.
I think that with some of them, they are raised by God to be examples for the rest of the church. There are too few exorcists in the US today.
That’s not a fault of the priests for sharing it. That would be on people being unable to control their impulses.
Agreed 👍
Happy New Year's to you, Dr. Sean Tobin, and everybody here! Praying to our Lord Jesus for help resist cowardice to have a spirit of power, love, and self-control!

Fear mungering, you have to love it!!
I have dealt with demonic possession personally, & have not found anything Fr Ripperger (for example) has said on the topic of spiritual warfare incorrect.
wow
Yeah, I don't like him. He sounds like what the secular world wants to do. Get rid of satan. Don't speak of him. Don't think of him well, we already tried that it hasn't worked.
Sounds like a con man…
Trust in God is obviously insufficient in exorcising the diabolic/demonic. E.g., See Job. Tormented, in pain, extraordinary losses, and he trusted our Lord. There are forces and circumstances beyond our understanding and trust in GOD does not exorcise these afflictions.
You need to do an ad in the middle of a sentence? I mean cmon...
🎉🎉🎉
Amen

I'm not very smart, and I still know that harming people is wrong. Why can't demons understand this?
They know that very well, they just don't care, as they didn't care about betraying God their only one time they did.
Geeze! They DO know but their mission is to destroy all that God has created and human beings are His masterpiece!!!
They understand it. You need to remember that each demon has it's own mission and Satan is the battlefield commander. They also know that they can't repent and recieve Gods mercy the way us humans can. Demons are basically soldiers that have no choice. Either do what Satan says or face heavy punishment.
Demons are evil and choose evil it’s not an accident
Bless your heart. I must warn you for presuming demons are like us since it could be a possible stronghold for them to use later.
Watch the movie ”Nefarious” and read Job again. They know its evil to hurt people, they not only dont care about hurting people but take delight in it and whats worse is they are specially prideful in letting humans do it so they can prove a point to God. Satan and his minions are only after sinning because it suits a purpose.
