I own a Mosin-Nagant ... the standard rifle ... which I've modernized extensively. Among items that I've added are the Promag Archangel polymer stock (which mounts 10-round removable magazines), a Timney trigger which is designed to fit in that stock with 1.5 lb pull (breathe on it, it goes off), various and sundry Picatinny rails, a bipod, a scout scope on a new mount, and other goodies. I like the scout setup because the distance between my eye and scope is 8 1/2 inches, allowing me to shoot with both eyes open for situational awareness, AR-15 sling, flashlight and range-finder on either side of the scope mount. Using new ammo with 165-gr bullets, and human silhouette targets, I get consistent groupings from 100-1100 yards. IN my opinion, the Mosin was one of the finest rifles ever made. In its current configuration, my Mosin is perfectly suitable for long-range combat. I've actually made one shot in 10x at 1500 yards! Not bad for a 90 year old Mosin 9130, designed in the 1890's! ...

Bought an Izhevsk all matching M44 with a scope mount on it several years ago. Not supposed to be a sniper but the receiver was stamped as a sniper. Has a very dark black stock that looks cut down but all the serials match. Most interesting rifle I have and it's fantastic. Put an original PU on the mount but wish I had the original.

Eric Purdy It was $250, I could have got it cheaper, I know, but it was the closest to me so I decided to get it. I'd rather not drive hundreds of miles just for one gun.
The thing impressed me the most - almost No Kick. This is similar power to 30-06 or .308 but it only kicks like SKS! You do feel it in your body through the air and got forbid to fire it without earmuffs - it goes off like a cannon, it gets very hot after 5-10 rounds. Gun is smooth all over, feels all-natural holding, carrying, aiming. Use Russian Barnaul, Chinese Norinco surplus or new PPU ammo, and it will give you one persistent group even with iron sight. I can guaranty, if you try it you will love it!
I was very fortunate and found one of these 91/30 sniper versions about 3 years ago with the smoothest trigger I've ever felt on any Mosin Nagant and at a great price. I don't know if these came that way or if someone worked on the trigger of the rifle I purchased or if I just got lucky. The previous owner said it was already that way back when he bought it and no one has been able to answer whether or not these versions came with an improved trigger. Either way, my 91/30 is a great and accurate shooter, nicer than my M44. 91/30 Mosins are a bit long and cumbersome and the safety mechanism on Mosins are the worst of any rifles I've ever handled, but I'm glad I was able to find some nice examples for my small Russian weapons collection. Cool video Mr. Hickok!

+Tactical Retreat It may be a RUSSIAN weapon but Simu Hayha had 500 confirmed kills in THE WINTER WAR with the Soviets. He was called "THE WHITE DEATH". He was shot through the jaw but survived and died at AGE 96. And the internet is the home of the conspiracy theorist!!.....Made byu scientist: taken over by white supremacists, and conspiracy theorists. Автономный Странник mainly because the russians were wearing woodland camo....in the snow and simo was properly camouflaged plus he knew the land and had extensive wilderness and hunting experience.
Dude loves to shoot .357 Mag revolvers and .40 auto loaders. This long range stuff is not his cup of tea but to me it's the best part about shooting. Everything goes quiet you listen to your heartbeat and fire between beats.
Nothing stopping you getting one if you actually have any valid reason for owning one. Also we do have semi autos. And semi auto shotguns, pistols (secure range use only other than specific exemption to private security employees) and civilian owned .50 BMGs.... The only difference is in the UK you can only own them if you actually have a reason to have. Not just because you "want" one.
When this man turns his hat around, things are about to get real. Thats some fine shooting. Im impressed. I used to relate Mosins to boat anchors. Im going to have to rethink that.

im sure most of you know the Mosin from the game DAYZ as do i but wow such a beautiful rifle great video hickock45 :)
This guy reminds so much of my grandpa they’re both really cool guys
Спасибо Вам за это шикарное видео! Это лучшее советское снайперское оружие.

@Баргузин 726 оно уже не советское

Привет от русскоязычных зрителей :)

The Fire Wot. This is a Russian gun.
IndowinFTW whoops thatz me in the other tab i thought it was use by germans stupid me.
@fml No not really
When you aiming press shift to make an acurate aiming and always hear their steps near you!
7:28 5.0 mustang motor... the old one.... I know that sound anywhere ... you hear him in the background in several videos... must live near by

“One man has gun one man follow when man with gun dies you take gun and shoot”
A most infamous myth made famous by Enemy at the Gates
im here in Romania sipping a glass of wine watching hickok talking about the gun, then hearing him say "this is what i will be looking at, when i miss the plate over there.."....while im thinking to myself...no....you won't miss!
Hopefully getting my mosin next week. Can't wait!
Can I ask what you paid for it? Just a ballpark, Thanks!
Eric Purdy It was $250, I could have got it cheaper, I know, but it was the closest to me so I decided to get it. I'd rather not drive hundreds of miles just for one gun.
Wow its too cheap at $250, here in bullshit India nothing firearm is alloewed other than revolver and pistols which costs atleast $4000 each.
How did it go?
Ah the moisin, a timeless rifle. I think its actually over 100 years old & was used in both ww1, ww2, & Vietnam
Such a badass gun, one of my favourites.
“I don’t hit that often” proceeds to hit 3 in a row
Hickok!
What safety mechanism?
@@cornholius it has a safety, look it up.
There that CIA plane again
1,000to
Die CIA pig :-) Man from Russia with Love ))))
lol
The best sniper of all time, he used this weapon, he managed to give millions of casualties to the top German: Name: Vassili Zaitsev
Wasn't Simo Haÿha?
@@kornaros96 they are both great snipers.
This channel is awesome. I just found it and I'm loving it.
My dad and Hickok would've gotten along great.
Just finished playing "Sniper Elite III" before coming across this video.
+TheSmilingSun just about to start playing it
shawn douglas Very good bullet cams !!
***** Actually its quite good :D I felt the graphics were quite better. I personally love sniping games, so i use to sit for hours playing a single mission without getting bored. I think you will like it.
Me too Sniper Elite V2
I am suffering from Mosin envy. :-(
oh man they are nice just check gun shows they usually have a few
They’re cheap too
Love the Vassili Zaitsev reference! Enemy at the Gates is one of my favorite war movies.
He actually not from that movie, he was a real Soviet-Russian sniper
just dont take anything in that movie as fact. Most of it is outdated myths
So many conspiracy theorists in the comment section. I came here to watch a cool Russian weapon being fired, not to hear about nutty theories...
I think there will always be the "nutty" 5% on the Internet; no way around that, particularly with anonymity being the standard operating procedure online. :-)
hickok45 Of course, pretty brazen of ME to imply others might be "nutty"! :-)
hickok45 Yeah, well, to each his own. Who am I to dictate what's nutty and what's not? I suppose it all comes down to opinion. Nice videos, by the way.
To me: Weapons are a TOOL in war to execute STRATEGY and ultimately victory. Just shooting without REAL knowledge and purpose of a weapon is.......BORING.
7/11 was a part time job
I can't believe that Simo Hayha was shooting this gun without a scope.
He didn't, he used the Finnish M39, a much better rifle in many people's opinion and one I wouldn't mind owning.
And how could he kill 500 soldiers from a rifle and 200 from a submachine gun, and still survive?
There are a lot of snipers in the Red Army
Автономный Странник mainly because the russians were wearing woodland camo....in the snow and simo was properly camouflaged plus he knew the land and had extensive wilderness and hunting experience.
Why didn't the superhumans win the subhuman war?
@@NovaCyclone666 The M39 is a Mosin-Nagant though...
Dude loves to shoot .357 Mag revolvers and .40 auto loaders. This long range stuff is not his cup of tea but to me it's the best part about shooting. Everything goes quiet you listen to your heartbeat and fire between beats.
I think many people were killed by the rifle you have in your hands, an important piece of history
بظىستنؤىة تىىلةا غىغاتماث ىب
Many people died with that rifle as well
@@slmb_b probably not, snipers died a lot less than regular infantry.
@Andrew Cummings they still died less than regular infantry
@Andrew Cummings not always either, ever heard of warcrimes?
Legend and history .
Only guy who makes a honda ridgeline look tuff! Nice shooting I wish my mosin was the pu version still a great gun for 175$
I love these videos, and you have so much knowledge on them, thanks!
That was probably a German car hauling out of there at the seven minute mark.
you can totally see the bullet trail as it travels to the target, awesome
I got that reference “Vassili Zaitsev”
This is why i hate living in the UK, because i'd love to have a bolt action like that.
Herman2416 Yeah, but think about how hard it is to keep one for long, how much it'd cost, and how difficult it'd be to find sites that i can shoot at.
Herman2416 They are pretty rare. We do have them, just not many.
***** I've never encountered one, but that's probably just me xD
Nothing stopping you getting one if you actually have any valid reason for owning one.
Also we do have semi autos.
And semi auto shotguns, pistols (secure range use only other than specific exemption to private security employees) and civilian owned .50 BMGs....
The only difference is in the UK you can only own them if you actually have a reason to have. Not just because you "want" one.
they dont sell surplus SMLE's ?
When this man turns his hat around, things are about to get real. Thats some fine shooting. Im impressed. I used to relate Mosins to boat anchors. Im going to have to rethink that.
Old man in the woods with a Mosin Nagant?
THE END
