Hi my name is Julissa (Who-lee-suh). I'm a midwest based traumatic brain injury survivor that is using art and painting to heal. My hope is to bring awareness to chronic pain/long term injuries and to show the importance of art when it comes to recovery. I've been an artist for four years and my speciality is acrylics on canvas. My art has been described as ethereal, feminine and full of motion. This is my full time occupation and I'd love it if you gave my socials a follow! I also have a patreon that you should check out:

Interesting techiques you have for arcylic painting, I'll have to try it out sometime! You mentioned how oil painting is quite a bit challenging - and, indeed, it is; might I suggest something? I discovered a type of oil paints years ago, thanks to a faitful friend, water mixable oils... they are just like regular oils, but, no need for solvents! You can use just water for thinning them, and water for clean-up. I absolutely love them! There are a few brands out there, but the ones I was introduced to (and normally purchase) are made by Winsor & Newton. I highly recommend them! I usually paint with acrylis, but sometimes I paint in oils. So, when I paint in oils, I break out my Winsor & Newton water mixable oils!

I am not use to pastels. But I am curious using yellow as your bace, that does not take away from your high lights?

Thank you for asking :) It does not take away from the highlights, we will paint over the yellow and it will peek through only slightly and help the other colors look warmer, but ultimately we cover it with other colors and then go back in to add highlights

@@paxpaints I paint in oil. and at times Acrylics. I give my canvas a good blocking before I paint to remove the white. Burnt Umber is my go to color.. see have to cover the white make it dark almost a Medium or atleaast go deep shadow. There is a big difference in highlights when I cover the white. and that would have to be done by me with yellows aswell. I am not telling you how to paint or even tryin to teach. I am learning. I am curious in Pastels. learning light bright colors will not effect the highlights. is awsome.. also I would like to thank you about the ELF BLENDER brush info.. never knew of them.. just bought 4.. love your work..
