This might be one of the first movie-themed games where I actually felt like the protagonist. Similar to Chronicles of Riddick (I heard some of the people on that team worked on this). Those punch sounds are crazy, the graphics are absolutely nuts, I played it on the Series X and it’s shocking how it maintains 60fps throughout, no stutters at all. Did experience stuttering audio at one point, and a game breaking bug during one of the “trials” that forced me to reload my save.
I got it playing great on my laptop at low to med settings for graphics and it still looks good. Plays perfectly with no stutters etc. Got a RTX 4050, 8gb VRam build on to it. It said I7 processor but I got an I5 and it seems good.
I'm 6 hours in already and I've got to say this is easily one of the best games of the year in a year FULL of banger good games. It is NOT Uncharted or Tomb Raider, and it was never meant to be, but playing it feels like you are 100% in a classic Indiana Jones movie that, so far in regards to narrative and performance, is on par with the original films, which is really saying something. I was highly sceptical of Troy Baker as Indy when it was first announced, nothing against the guy, he's actually one of my favorite actors, but he's cast so often and his voice is so recognisable I usually find it hard for my brain to separate Troy out from whatever character he's performing, but boy howdy that is NOT the case here. Troy KILLS it as Indy, he sounds 1-for-1 with Harrison Ford a vast majority of the time, he's got everything from the voice to the cadence of Harrison's speech down perfectly, and that in combination with the STUNNING character model in the cutscenes, you really lose track of the fact you're actually playing a video game and not watching a movie, which is incredible. The gameplay is also a fresh change of pace from the usual action/adventure tone and it also completely fits the character. The story, ambience, music, and setting is what really shines in an Indiana Jones movie, and the gameplay does a perfect job of complimenting that without distracting from the overall tone of the experience or the abilities of the original character. Indiana is a force to be reckoned with, but he's no one man army. He doesn't get into massive gunfights with small armies on a constant basis and he doesn't perform impossible acrobatics up crumbling cliff sides with cat-like reflexes. He's Indy. He feels weighty, strong but not always the most agile or the quickest, he can climb but only so long without getting tired, and he can easily get overwhelmed if he puts himself in a situation where he's surrounded. He almost feels like a REAL guy as opposed to an invulnerable video game character, which Indy felt like in the movies. That might sound disappointing to some, and if a fast paced shoot 'em up with explosive and elaborate set pieces is what you're looking for then The Great Circle is NOT for you... but if you're looking for a slower paced, methodical puzzle/stealth/beat 'em up with a Film Noir flair that pays passionate homage to its source material, this is perfect for you. That said, I realise this game is probably mostly for Gen X and millennials, and if you're not I can totally understand why this wouldn't be your cup of tea. If you use to play a lot of FPS shooters back in the day and you're a REAL fan of the original Indy trilogy, this was basically made for you, but I can totally see how it may feel a bit too slow paced for the younger gamers.
As a lover of Indiana jones since I was a little kid I am unbelievably happy that this turned out good, now I’m playing it on game pass and even just that beginning playing through the first movie’s first scene is a childhood dream come true, it feels like an old Indiana jones film, I liked the modern movies but this has so much nostalgia and excitement brought right back, I used to love the older games but now after so long getting to really feel like you’re IN another movie is so so fun, I was going to buy it anyways, but the fact it’s good against all odds is exactly what I hoped it’d be, the soundtrack, the voice, the way it plays, it’s exactly what I needed rn, because my childhood memories are coming true for the first time
6:03 this is why most people in movies or games tend to pull the unconscious person to the ground instead of just letting them fall. kind of makes a sneak attack pointless if the body creates the human equivalent of the metal pipe SFX.
I’m so excited I’ve been playing it non stop on Xbox , it’s a series that I have loved since I was a kid when I saw it for the first time and this is what made me choose the career path I’m on now with my history degree and simply being able to play and explore is pure entertainment and joy
I'm surprised that so many people hate this game in Charlies live chat, its literally a gamified Indiana jones movie, its exactly what an Indiana jones game should be
A lot of modern/younger gamers need games to be 1,000,000 miles an hour or else it’s trash, sadly. Look at rhe hate certain groups gave to BG3 just because its was turn based. ADHD brainrot has infested a lot of them sadly
I never have had somebody with such a similar “Indiana jones history” as Charlie I also used to watch it with my family a lot when I was younger and was also terrified of the rapidly aging guy.
Same. Always shut my eyes on that part! The hair growing fast on the back of his head and then the face shot with the bugged out eyes.. But its my fave movie of all time! 😅
Remember, do NOT credit Bethesda for this. MachineGames, the masterminds behind the Wolfenstein reboot series, collaboration with Doom 2016 alongside ID Software, Deathloop collaboration and Skyrim collaboration, are who made this game. Theyve been around the bend for some great games and people tend to forget about them over ID Software and Bethesdas Studio. Theyve had a hand in some of Bethesdas most iconic and successful titles in their catalogue.
The game wouldn't exist if not for Bethesda, or it would be another soulless EA cashgrab. Let's not forget the fact that Machine games Chief devs have consistently praised the support from Bethesda, and Todd Howard's direct involvement in this game. I personally despise a lot of the greedy and dissapointing actions the company has taken over recent years, but this mindless brigading at any opportunity isn't helpful, smart or even meritous. It's just as unhealthy and gross as the constant brigading from the mentally unwell "culture war" obsessives. Wanting better from the industry is all well and good, but it shines hollow and petty when you make a statement like this out of spite, especially when you seem to have a history of blindly supporting Bungie and Destiny, despite their blatant anti-consumer practices in recent years.
For anyone who hasn’t seen the Indiana Jones films, I highly recommend watching them to anyone who’s even remotely interested. The first three are some of the greatest adventure films of all time. Raiders is an absolute classic, Temple of Doom is a little different thematically but it was always my Dad’s favorite, and Last Crusade is my personal favorite because of the dynamic between Indy and his dad. They’re just fun movies. Great action, great music, great stunts and set pieces, great humor, great characters, romance, everything you could want in an adventure movie.
Honestly in any other game the "How could you not see me? How did you not hear that?" moments would annoy me but it's so fitting for Indy that I just chuckle.
@@kiloimurged3966it’s been a lot of fun so far! Not some ADHD clusterfuck, button mashing game but a faithful imagining of an iconic IP with engaging gameplay.
0:59 fun fact, Indiana Jones is not the reason why PG-13 exist at all. It’s actually gremlins see the movie was too hard-core to be PG but it wasn’t hard-core enough to be rated R so they made PG-13 and it’s been used ever since
Indiana Jones is not just suprisingly fun, but suprisingly true to the legacy of the original movies. I didn't realize how much I missed the old Indy until I've seen the gameplay...
Got a taste of this game for a couple hours today and it is just different enough to be refreshing. It isn't the next big moment in gaming or anything, but it is just some good ol' fashion fun. You can get up to a lot of quirky shenanigans. It is a little stiff, but in a good way. It grounds the game world in a way some super fluid flashy games can't.
Finally, a regular ol' good game. I appreciate these kinda games. It's not a GOTY but it's also not Star Wars Outlaws. It's just.. a good ol' fun game.
@@reaIixx Star Wars Outlaws is a regular 7/10. It's not bad, it's not as polished as it could be, but it's not great like an 8 or above either. It's in the same league as Tom Clancy's The Division. They're both generic Ubisoft games. It gets a lot of criticism (it deserves a lot of it too) but it's definitely not below a 5/10.
I was actually impressed how well they were able to emulate the feeling and aesthetic of the original films within the game. Everything from the music down to the sound effects sounds like it could be from one of the movies. To me if you’re gonna try and make a game based around an already established film property, especially a beloved one like Indiana Jones, then this is how it should be done. You can tell a lot of time and dedication went into getting it right.
RIP Tony Todd. A horror legend. The fact he began lending his face and voice for gaming in his last couple years is awesome. Forever immortalized as Venom in PS Spiderman 2 and now this Indiana Jones character. Shame we lost him a little literally early.

I love the fighting in this game. I love how messy and chaotic it is. It’s exactly how Indy fights. With a lot of action heroes and in games like this, the main character usually has some technique or fighting style they depend on to take down their opponents, but not Indiana Jones. Usually when Indy fights there’s no rhythm to it, he’s just a scrappy brawler. He’ll use his environment and whatever’s around him to gain the upper hand in a fight. He’s not worried about honor, he’s simply worried about walking away alive. He’s not above cheap shotting someone to gain the advantage. He’s thrown dirt in people’s eyes before and kicked them in the nuts. That’s why I’ve always liked Indiana Jones and found him to be a relatable hero. Cause at the end of the day, he’s a professor and an archaeologist. His brains have always been his strongest attribute, not his brawn. More often than not he’s outnumbered and outmatched and has to rely on his wits to get him out of most situations. For example, in Temple of Doom on the bridge he was surrounded on both sides. So what does Indy do? He waits for them to come closer and then cuts the rope holding the bridge together.
Something is just satisfying about punch fighting in games compared to guns. Like Callisto protocal for how bad it was I liked the sense of strength it gives in the melee fighting with grunts and reactions like there’s force behind the hits
seeing the guy fall down the steps at the end had me crying, this game over exceeded my expectations, reminds me of assassins creed when those games were actually good

Did experience stuttering audio at one point, and a game breaking bug during one of the “trials” that forced me to reload my save.
Starbreeze(who made Riddick:Escape From Butcher bay), basically became Machinegun Games.
Series X is SHOCKINGLY stable in its visuals. It’s so good.
The Riddick games awesome as a kid!
Only problem I’ve run into is one invisible nun
I got it playing great on my laptop at low to med settings for graphics and it still looks good. Plays perfectly with no stutters etc. Got a RTX 4050, 8gb VRam build on to it. It said I7 processor but I got an I5 and it seems good.

@@prexzahsame as well my favourite was the last crusade
I love how each punch sounds like a thunder clap
It’s freaking great. That’s exactly how they sounded in the movies if you go back and watch.
@@docproc144exactly what I was thinking haha
And there's also a little orchestra riff after you knock someone out like in most classic adventure movies.
Like a what... ☸
5:51 is unironically something Indy would do
Funny to think he does something similar in a cut scene with Voss and his henchmen in the desert
As a lover of Indiana jones since I was a little kid I am unbelievably happy that this turned out good, now I’m playing it on game pass and even just that beginning playing through the first movie’s first scene is a childhood dream come true, it feels like an old Indiana jones film, I liked the modern movies but this has so much nostalgia and excitement brought right back, I used to love the older games but now after so long getting to really feel like you’re IN another movie is so so fun, I was going to buy it anyways, but the fact it’s good against all odds is exactly what I hoped it’d be, the soundtrack, the voice, the way it plays, it’s exactly what I needed rn, because my childhood memories are coming true for the first time
Glad to hear this didn't flop. Was excited to hear this was being made.

Charlie live chat audience are the most foul, toxic people on this platform.
charlies live chat is so cancer, so many people calling it woke for calling literal fascists facist
@ used to be my favorite before lord of the rings took that title. But it is still high up on my list and always has a special place in my heart.
Wanting better from the industry is all well and good, but it shines hollow and petty when you make a statement like this out of spite, especially when you seem to have a history of blindly supporting Bungie and Destiny, despite their blatant anti-consumer practices in recent years.
bro just play the game
Todd was executive producer though
Eh, Todd Howard pitched the story and concept of this game to LucasFilm and got the greenlight to do so. He wanted MachineGames to develop the title.

14:51 The thought of Indian Jones dipping out of a room, leaping over some railing and breaking both of his ankles made me die

Same man this game is real good
Got a taste of this game for a couple hours today and it is just different enough to be refreshing.
I don't think Star Wars Outlaws is the best example of what to avoid. Not very good by any means but there are much worse
@@NIKEONXX actually just a lie
@@reaIixx Star Wars Outlaws is a regular 7/10. It's not bad, it's not as polished as it could be, but it's not great like an 8 or above either.
It's in the same league as Tom Clancy's The Division. They're both generic Ubisoft games.
It gets a lot of criticism (it deserves a lot of it too) but it's definitely not below a 5/10.
Not absolutely outstanding or extremely bad. It’s what we need these days I think. Just a good game.

They should have made the big rolling boulder a cockroach.

The giant guy in the blue robe reminds me of the big guy that worked at the supermarket from Hot Fuzz
