In Witcher 3 you live as a fairy tale hero, in RDR 2 you become a legend. I am grateful to both games for providing emotional and unforgettable experiences.
Witcher 3 is my best pick, discovered this game because of Witcher 1 and 2. Not familiar with Red Ded Redemption 2 but I might like it, but not as much as Witcher, I'm more to Magic and Medieval theme than Cowboy Shooting Era.
This comparison makes no sense, Rockstar games are always open world adventures that seek to have the world alive and full of details with a very linear progression and the witcher 3 is a role-playing game in which other aspects are sought, we could compare the number of enemies, weapons, armor, dozens of quality missions, abilities and Geralt's level... RDR2 doesn't have all that, they are different games and each one is the best at what they do For me the two best games of the generation
Just for context, the Witcher 3 cost $34 million ($12.6 million for development, rest ist marketing and such), while RDR 2 is estimated to be 10-16 times as expensive.
It seems in almost all aspects the witcher 3 pre-dates RDR2, when in fact is quite the opposite. Got to love how RDR2 was developed, really. Also the witcher, even being superior in color and some, not many, movements (including those of nature), still presents edgy and more cartoonish graphics when in this matter RDR2 really seems to have the upper hand regarding the age difrerence between both games. RDR2 was close to a piece of art, the witcher 3 was/is "just" a pretty decent game. Let time go by and we'll see who and how we remember these two games. Nice video.
@@ReBolt590 yeah, maybe it's a sort of big gap in time regarding tech, but still I see rfr2 competing with almost all AAA games of the 2020's. we can always reverse it that way.
huge fan of both games, but tw3 has my absolute heart, but i don't think that we can even compare them. Tw3 was launched back in the 2015, rdr2 in 2018. Different genre, world, gameplay. But one thing that I'm sure about is that These two games with the last of us, rappresents the top 3 games ever created
Of course Red Dead looks better, especially in the horse. But Witcher 3 does look great. Think about it, Witcher 3 was released almost 4 years before and was made by a smaller team and got what it got. Though both games are great.
In terms of graphics, it is clear that red dead is definitely better, but if we don't consider the graphics, both of them are great in terms of story, and I really enjoyed both games, and their stories are not comparable at all, because each one has its own atmosphere, and the audience's taste is important that which one is More interesting for them 💚
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a lot more realistic and detailled texturally, however the Witcher 3 9 years on still looks as good or perhaps even better due to having exceptional art direction. This is particularly the case with color - RDR2 notably has a strange and slightly overly whitened image that seems to want to recreate the excess brightness that your eyes experience when you watch things under a very intense sun, but it ends up making the picture lose some vibrancy as a result. TW3 emphasizes subtle contrasts and strong colors (for example the water with its very intense blue over RDR2's more transparent take). It creates a rich, deep and vibrant image that's just a joy to watch, even beyond its technical limitations (Which tbh still hold up well to this day).
The Witcher 3 is from 2015 and Red Dead Redemption from 2018 is 3 years apart and Next Gen in The Witcher mainly improves some of the game's textures and lighting does not change Fiztmyki in the game. Apart from that, The Witcher 3 focuses on other details, including cities, monsters, weapons, etc
Most horses will not swim, especially with someone riding them. They have to be a rare breed and specially trained for that task. So the horse swimming in RDR2 just strikes me as simply bizarre.
Era obvio que RDR2 se vería mejor, pero no me esperaba que la versión next gen de The Witcher 3 se viera tan bien. En especial me asombró las texturas del personaje 2:55, y justo estoy pensando en rejugarlo.
Of course RDR2 was gonna have more detail. Not only was it released 3 years later but it's made by Rockstar but we gotta give TW3 credit where credit is due. For being an early PS4/XB1 title, it still looks incredible
Witcher 3 imo was an over-all better experience for me personally. Thats not to say rdr2 was bad or anything, but the story imo was just better and the quests themselves were imo much better. Rdr2 suffers from the same problems as previous rockstar games, play it the way we intended or you will fail the mission... it ruins it for me slightly. Still rdr2 has a very immersive world that will take you hours to see every last place and all missions. But rdr2 on repeat playthroughs just wasnt all that fun for me, and after a while all the random npc stuff becomes predicable. I never once grew bored of witcher 3 because even if you remember the story well its soooo well written that it manages to keep me engaged everytime i replay it. You can get through rdr2 with basic guns and very minimal survival skills. Rdr2 on the other hands demands that you actually go out into the world and master the oil's and various tonics to gain a fair advantage on monsters. Just try playing witcher 3 without investing in the upgraded variations or actually learning the beastiry and the game will become a nightmare. Rdr2 has alot of fine detail that really adds to the experience and its one you only really get to experience one time. I can look past the graphics of rdr2 and its detail because as a game the witcher 3 imo excels. Rdr2 is more of an experience.
For a second I thought they were made by the same developer and its crazy to see that RDR2 is still a 1000 better graphically than 2024 games! What an absolute MASTER PIECE!!!
Technically, Witcher 3 was 2015. The next gen update of 2022 only integrated several popular texture and visual mods as well as some basic ray tracing capabilities back ported from C2077's updated REDEngine.
Well Iove witcher 3 for what it is (Medieval). But sorry no comparison with my beloved RDR2 stuff and its incredible Mods! Only if we had more mods about medieval clothing like cloaks long coats uniforms and pointed hoods to give cool scenarios thanks to Mods..😢😊
It’s good yes but remember this is just a graphical update to a 2015 game… it’s not even marketed as a remaster or remake they just added ray tracing and 4K textures
I love rdr2 for its attention to detail and amazing emotional storyline and just all the little things you can do in the game, though I have played witcher 3 and that is also a beautiful game but never got to complete it so i will definitely play it after watching this video thank you for reminding me

You can’t just say “better art style” lol. Those are 2 completely different worlds as you said.rdr2 is realistic while the witcher is set in a fantasy world
@@midogaming2141 I didn’t say it’s objectively better. But RDR2 is way too realistic so it doesn’t hit as hard while good But things in the Witcher hit harder because it’s not limiting itself by being realistic but RDR2 has way better texture and physics
Only the Witcher 3 has a budget of $30 million, and RDR2 has a budget of $170 million. The Poles did a miracle. With such a budget, create a masterpiece for all time. The physics and graphics of RDR2 will be outdated anyway. And the plot, the atmosphere, the characters of The Witcher 3 will never get old. That's the difference.
The Witcher 3 quality influenced RDR2. For me the best two games ever arguably, even if RDR2 is more detailed and realistic with more than double the budget, without the influence of The Witcher 3 we wouldnt have Red dead 2 with that much detail. The Witcher 3 changed everything and stepped up the open worlds quality so much.
Rdr2 is realistic, but I love how the world looks in the witcher with colorful weather and trees swinging around in the wind with abandoned forts in the distance

Their client is piece of shit, It happened to me that I could not paly because my IP adress was banned for no reason, so I had to start stupid launcher thru my hotspot from phone. I don't play any online games and I have just RDR2 on rockstar launcher, so no, I was not banned in some game, it was just because rockstar is lazy and they ban whole IP chain and they don't care they ban hunderds of people and then you have to wait weeks until they solve that, you bought the game and you can't evne play that, plague on them.
nothing beats rdr2 details in physics but something about Witcher 3 colors when you looks at a distant scenery is just so special, it's like you can breath the air, especially in Toussaint
According to CD Projekt Red interview, the Witcher 3 had a budget of US$34 million. The development itself was only ~US$12.6 million (which made the fact that the game was that well done was an even more amazing fact). with the rest of the budget being allocated to marketing and promotion. How much was RDR2 budget? This attention to detail came at a huge cost, however. The game alone is thought to have set the developer back between 170 and 240 million dollars, with as much as $300m spent on marketing on top of that amount.

Also both games indirectly goes back to bioware's dragon age aswell, the concept of moving from one place to another on certain stage of storyline, but one thing that most certainly heavily inspired from eachother is the camping/meditation found in both games, you can do all sort of stuff before the action starts, like brewing oils and potions in witcher or cooking in rdr2, etc and hair growth found in both games (only for beard in witcher if you shaved, have to go to barber for hair change)
@@LucasSouza-sd1dv RDR1 is an expanded scope of RD Revolver does, you just hunt your former gangs, and that's it, but RDR2 and Witcher 3 is extremely similiar, as i said above each chapter you're in different area moving from one place to another, and Witcher games since the first game in 2007 is based off Dragon Age or Baldurs Gate gameplay without the turn based combat, there is no similiarities aside from general open world exploration.
I feel like these two games are so different yet so alike, both of them with great open worlds, missions, and both have a little something to add to the greatness like gwent or the 90 challenges in rdr, i played both for over 150 hours and i only can only thank the developers for experiences that i’ll never enjoy any time soon!!
The Witcher 3's crossbow was an absolute afterthought that was apparently added just so you could have a way to bring down flying enemies and attack underwater ones -- that's why the projectiles aren't even rendered beyond a white line and have no collision unless you hit something that takes damage. The aard sign has water collision, though.
This is a stupid comparison. The next gen of the witcher never included any updates towards details or physics of the game at all, it just improved its graphics, bugs and glitches. You can check for yourself, there is no difference between quality, clarity, physics and details between old gen and new gen of the witcher 3, so its still comparing a 2015 game to a late 2018 game, and late 2019 if you take PC, which I am assuming is used in this video. Still, im not saying rdr2 is a bad game or anything, just a stupid comparison. Also dont forget the size of each of these games. I have both the witcher 3 and rdr2 installed in my pc. The witcher 3 takes up 50GB, while rdr2 takes to an absolutely ridiculous 150gb, exactly triple its size, which also makes this comparison stupid.
@@clancyteaches5232 I was just stating facts in my original comment and don't disagree with what you said in your response -- the comparison was always unfair since there isn't an obsession with realism in TW3 like there is in RDR2, but it just goes to show how well the former holds up overall. People feel the need to compare it to newer releases (and RDR2, which was absolutely a point out of the curve, btw) after it just gets what amounts to, for the purposes of the comparison, minor to medium graphical changes. I honestly think TW3 is a vastly superior game to RDR2 anyway, but I'm highly biased. TW3 has what is one of my favorite fictional universes ever while RDR2 has a setting and story that hardly picks my interest.
@@emmanuel1337 I absolutely agree with you on that matter. TW3 is my favorite fictional universe ever, and absolutely agree over the fact that RDR2's story also hardly picks up my interest. TW3 is just superior, the setting and theme songs, along with the side stories and side missions fit perfectly together, which creates an unmatchable experience.

Gameplay most likely and possibly the committee knew RDR2 was going to sweep nearly every other category it was nominated for so they didn't want it to seem like they had a Rockstar bias. I agree tho, RDR2 should've won. God of War was great gameplay-wise but the map was mediocre (weird mix of linear/open world), the side quests kinda sucked, and the narrative wasn't as good as RDR2.
Kratos is so badass but the basics it’s a hack and slash game that gets boring after a while. The only thing that kept me going is the story. I struggled to play it again after I already knew the story
I spent hours in rdr2 exploring and soaking up the landscape, riding my horse through the mountains, incredible, such a beautiful serene experience. Unfortunately when i came back to civilisation and started playing the main story I just got bored after a short while. The shootouts get seriously repetitive for one. The Witcher may not look as good but it just sucks you in at every turn of the narrative wheel, the story takes you on a kaleidoscopic journey.
I disagree. The narrative is way better written in Red dead 2. often times, the dialogue feels too expository in The Witcher 3. The arc of Arthur is way better then. Gerald
Fair point. For me, the side missions in RDR2 feel like part of the main mission. The whole thing feel like 1 wholesome story. The world feels so alive it’s crazy.
I guess people forget to mention the storage space that these games require for download. Witcher 3 takes roughly 32 GB whereas RDR 2 needs a whooping 150 GB. With just 32 GB Witcher 3 still manages to give us such great graphics (though RDR2 graphics and physics are better) and long/large open world gameplay. How did the developers manage this? What sorcery is this?
Das ist sowas von scheiß egal, wieviel Platz das Game benötigt und seit bei 200gb würde tw nicht an rdr2 ranreichen, da die engine schon eine ganz andere ist
"In both games the horse comes after the whistle" - yes, but Roach gets teleported from anywhere immediately. Sometimes lands on a rooftop... Your horse in RDR2 only comes if you stay within it's "hearing" range. If not, you can whistle all day long and nothing happens.

It's impressive how good the Witcher 3 looks after aaaall the years!!! For sure that Red Dead is in graphics side better, .. it is so much newer and Rockstars game always looks perfect (just btw.). But this is not just graphics what is good on Witcher 3. The stories are sooooo perfect!! And not just the main line, but side quests so beautiful and at all the game is masterpiece of century. It is a fairytale which I play again and again and I am still in love with her.
Everyone in the comments section acts like rdr2 is better than the witcher 3. But deep down everyone knows that rdr2 in terms of storytelling and artistry is nothing in comparison. Tbh, it's like comparing a rock to a diamond. The witcher has such thoughtful and real dialogues and stories, I haven’t seen anything better not only in games, but also in movies and television, and the landscapes are absolutely drop dead gorgeous. CDPR games are breathtaking. And rdr2 compared to The Witcher 3 is an awkward boy who knows nothing about life and still wants to pass for a serious grown man by holding a cigarette in his mouth and talking all sorts of crap
I played the Witcher 3 and my whole game felt very linear, I never felt like I had freedom and I don't like that the treasures appear on the map with the ?, that takes away the desire to explore because it seems like there is nothing more than that and It gets repetitive, a map full of question marks, side quests you can't do because you're low level, and soulless npcs that look like they were made by Bethesda. Now with Red Dead Redemption 2 I didn't feel any of that, the world feels very alive and has a lot of things to explore, secrets, strange things, unique weapons and hats, legendary animals, legendary fish, random events... it has so many things that It is not surprising that this game took 8 years to make, the NPCs in this game seem to have a soul and that is incredible, the secondary missions are very good and I enjoyed them more than the 275 hours I played the Witcher 3, it is not a bad game but you have to accept that red dead redemption is a thousand times better.
@@saulgoodman2834 The budget of Red Dead Redemption 2, if I'm not mistaken, was more than half a billion dollars, and the budget of The Witcher 3 was only 81 million. I didn’t feel that way in Red Dead Redemption 2, with all the liveliness and detail of its world. I call it an epic fail

RDR2 doesn't have all that, they are different games and each one is the best at what they do
For me the two best games of the generation
💀 that comparison wouldn't make sense either ....... (according to ur logic)
both are legendary at their own way

RDR 2 is the best graphics up to 2025
Bro, the Witcher 3 salió en 2015, aunque la última versión que fue del 2022, añadió pocas cosas, más que todo fue estético de armas armaduras etc
Just for context, the Witcher 3 cost $34 million ($12.6 million for development, rest ist marketing and such), while RDR 2 is estimated to be 10-16 times as expensive.
These games are objectively probably 2 of the best games out there
Theme wise it’s so close it feels like Rockstar games made them both but they didn’t

Nice video.

For a 2015 game, cdpr really outdid themselves, especially using REDengine for both 2 and 3. But of course, red dead redemption 2 peaks!

In terms of graphics, it is clear that red dead is definitely better, but if we don't consider the graphics, both of them are great in terms of story, and I really enjoyed both games, and their stories are not comparable at all, because each one has its own atmosphere, and the audience's taste is important that which one is More interesting for them 💚
Just started playing the Witcher and I can’t stop playing
Both were the best in their own respective time.
It creates a rich, deep and vibrant image that's just a joy to watch, even beyond its technical limitations (Which tbh still hold up well to this day).
rdr2 no competition
no shit it costed half a billion more to make then witcher 3 lol
These 2 games and Batman Arkham Knight have the best graphics EVER
5:04 it heart🥹
The Witcher 3 is from 2015 and Red Dead Redemption from 2018 is 3 years apart
and Next Gen in The Witcher mainly improves some of the game's textures and lighting
does not change Fiztmyki in the game.
The fact! Rocstar Engine is different level, so madnesss

What an absolute MASTER PIECE!!!
something's not right, I believe the Witcher III has higher quality settings than what is shown here.
I played Witcher 3.. gameplay felt linear like you were going on a straight line than being open world.
Technically, Witcher 3 was 2015. The next gen update of 2022 only integrated several popular texture and visual mods as well as some basic ray tracing capabilities back ported from C2077's updated REDEngine.
And they are both videogame masterpieces. ❤
Red Dead Redemption 2 will also have a next gen update, so it will look better than the Witcher 3 next gen
Now I would like to compare the game of 2015 and 2018
Well Iove witcher 3 for what it is (Medieval). But sorry no comparison with my beloved RDR2 stuff and its incredible Mods! Only if we had more mods about medieval clothing like cloaks long coats uniforms and pointed hoods to give cool scenarios thanks to Mods..😢😊
Well we all knew how this was going to turn out
It’s good yes but remember this is just a graphical update to a 2015 game… it’s not even marketed as a remaster or remake they just added ray tracing and 4K textures
I love rdr2 for its attention to detail and amazing emotional storyline and just all the little things you can do in the game, though I have played witcher 3 and that is also a beautiful game but never got to complete it so i will definitely play it after watching this video thank you for reminding me

I love how The Witcher 3 has better art style than RDR2 since its not bound to reality
You can’t just say “better art style” lol. Those are 2 completely different worlds as you said.rdr2 is realistic while the witcher is set in a fantasy world
@@midogaming2141 I didn’t say it’s objectively better. But RDR2 is way too realistic so it doesn’t hit as hard while good
But things in the Witcher hit harder because it’s not limiting itself by being realistic but RDR2 has way better texture and physics
Both games are phenomenal. You must play both
How are we comparing 2 games with extremely different budgets?
The Witcher 3: $81M
RDR2: $240M
The Witcher 3 quality influenced RDR2. For me the best two games ever arguably, even if RDR2 is more detailed and realistic with more than double the budget, without the influence of The Witcher 3 we wouldnt have Red dead 2 with that much detail. The Witcher 3 changed everything and stepped up the open worlds quality so much.
The Witcher graphics are more like an artist impression of how the world is and red dead graphics more like how the world actually is
Why do you put TW3 through this torture? Nothing compares to RDR2, since this is the best video game created so far.

The aard sign has water collision, though.
Yea, that one mission where you had to kill the griffin was so annoying. They couldve made anything but the crossbow

Gameplay most likely and possibly the committee knew RDR2 was going to sweep nearly every other category it was nominated for so they didn't want it to seem like they had a Rockstar bias.
Now its even better after next gen update
And yet I didn’t have as much fun playing RDR2 as I did playing The Witcher 3, because again, The Witcher is like an amazing fantasy book full of stories as real as life itself, except you don't read them, but experience them firsthand. I didn’t feel that way in Red Dead Redemption 2, with all the liveliness and detail of its world. I call it an epic fail
