Very good instruction! I'm glad I went with the 12" when I bought my Laramie because I don't think I would have the patience you clearly have to do a DIY. 👍🏾👍🏾
Aftermarket is an android based tablet which is why it’s so much cheaper. Install is quite a bit more intensive. With some of the cheaper options you lose features. Also if you wear polarized sunglasses the cheaper screens are harder to see. Most folks who install the cheaper aftermarket ones end up replacing them after a few months when the novelty wears off and they realized they sacrificed quality/features by going the cheaper route.
WF41, Great straight forward video. I have the 12" in my 21 Rebel, but enjoy your videos, so decided to see how easy the swap was. I highly recommend you get a matte screen protector from the OCD Plug. You won't regret the purchase. You will never have fingerprints. I had a regular Mopar screen protector on it and didn't like it. Anyway, wanted to suggest the screen protector and maybe another video topic.
I need a similar upgrade…however it’s for my 2016 dodge charger. Comes with the older system that doesn’t have android auto and Apple car play. Just seems a little pricy for me (going from ra3 to ra4 8.4” screen). For you, that’s a bigger upgrade.
I have screen & module, how can I make that work? I tired putting it in my truck and lost certain functions as far as tailgate power and volume knob doesn’t work! Anyway I can buy just the programming if that’s what I need?
@waterfowl Do you know if the Wi-Fi is working fine? Was there anything needed to update for att to get hotspot working again? Getting ready to swap to one but wanted to check and see if there is something needed
Awesome video! Thank you for posting, very concise. Can't wait to see the post on 5th Gen forums, those guys will love it. How does this work with factory over air updates?
@@WaterFowler41 No worries, I'm sure it's not an issue otherwise the company selling the package would have mentioned it. Awesome upgrade, convinced me to do it. I have the 8.4 NAV, so the glossy bezel which makes the screen seem bigger, but after seeing the 12", I have to do it :)
I found one for 600$ I spent an extra 99 for the bypass and 65$ for the extra 2 cables that you need online and since I didn’t know the anti theft code I spend another 10$ to get it
I purchased the 12" screen and brain from a wrecked Ram. Can the programming software be purchased separately? I have the radio in, but it won't come on.
It looks like you know what you are doing. Maybe you can help me out. I have a 2023 Ram 1500 Longhorn. I cannot figure out why the buttons around the infotainment screen and the steering wheel buttons are not lit during the day. Do you have or is there a way to get these buttons to be lit during the day?
Thanks! Keep in mind quality isn’t cheap and cheap isn’t quality. A lot of parameters in these trucks are controlled through these radios so not something I’d suggest cutting corners on.
@jayilla28 gotta pay to play. Gone are the days we could swap out a basic radio with a JVC or Alpine for a few hundred bucks. I miss my Sony CDXM3-DI….
It’s a zen carbon fiber wheel. Here’s my video on the wheel: **HEATED** Zen Carbon Fiber Custom Steering Wheel - Ram Rebel ua-cam.com/video/lrtU39tnWos/v-deo.html
I have to keep fresh content on the channel and I know the uc4 to uc5 is a popular project so it was worth the $$ to upgrade. More content = happy viewers!
You spent a ton of money and time on that truck just to get rid of it and start all over on a new truck. Surely taking a massive hit $$$. @@WaterFowler41

You can get one aftermarket for 800
@@5555-r9i the $800 unit is a cheap android tablet. You lose features by using those tablets.
What is the difference between the OEM 12 inch vs this 12 inch dispaly

How would I program the old radio back if I wanted to sell the truck?

Ai need send work and my truck
Now we just need a 4th gen kit, HAHAHA!
Can you keep the remote services? Like lock unlock doors from your phone? See the tire pressure and location of truck on your Ram app?
I’ve never thought about the app, I’ll try and report back
Why didn't you get the 2022 version so you can go wireless and full screen apple/ Android auto
Wasn’t out when I did this project
Nice. I'd love to see a feature breakdown of what that thing can do. 😊
There’s a list on Infotainment.com’s site. I have everything except Sirius since I let that feature expire

Is that steering wheel original or you install after . Wanted to know it looks cool wondering if i can install in my limited 2019
It’s aftermarket, made by zen cf. I have a video on my channel of the install.

cool, only risk there is lack of warranty.
is that alum gear selector OEM ? or where did you get it
It’s from ajt
Do you have all parts numbers ,screen, radio module, wire , etc
It’s a kit from infotainment. For me it was more practical to buy a turn key kit than trying to piecemeal everything together.
I purchased the 12" screen and brain from a wrecked Ram. Can the programming software be purchased separately? I have the radio in, but it won't come on.
I’m not sure, you can try reaching out to the OBD Genie team

Maybe your dim switch for the dash is turned all the way up. Is the cluster and radio really bright at night?
One how much does it cost for the radio off at?
2017 Dodge Ram got V6 in it. I want to upgrade my radio so I can have the map finder
I’m not sure. My video is only applicable to 2019+ 5th gen rams
Also, how long did it take for your back up camera to function?
Immediately but I’ve heard it can take a few hours of driving for all the functions to work
What year is your rebel , I want to upgrade mines but when ordering they only offer 2019 - 2021 and mines is 2022 .
Mines a 2020
Oh okay , ima try to get in touch with infotainment tomorrow see if there’s any way to make it work for mines. Thank you 👍🏽
what did infotainment give you for your old system?
Ended up selling it locally to a buddy.
@ that pretty much answers that question as expected 😂. Thanks
Did you had navigation before the 12” my rebel don’t have navigation can I still upgraded to the 12” screen ?
No I did not
I put the 8.4 Uconnect 5 in my 2020 but I lost my zoom for the hitch 😢. Love the wireless CarPlay though which is why I made the change.
bummer that you lost the zoon but wireless carplay is awesome!
@@WaterFowler41 yea it is. Literally the only reason I went to a Uconnect 5 system in my 2020
Do you know where I can buy a Uconnect 5 to replace my 4? I have the 12 inch screen I just want wireless CarPlay
I am not sure if there are retrofitters selling turnkey kits yet.
You’re going to make me spend MORE money 😂
Your wife said it’s ok
You don’t have any anyways guy
Did u have the nav in the 8.4? If not do u have it in the 12 now?
I did not but now I do. I love having the factory nav on full screen while I drive. Helps to be able to see the roads around me
I wonder could these fit in the fourth Gen’s?
Negative not without major cutting and splicing on the dash and wiring

Nope, love the radio still!

So where do I find this program?

Where do i get one?
I picked up everything in this video from infotainment.com so I would start there
