Can totally understand the confusion on this last episode. The director/production gave us two different endings. In the first ending Li Chen Lan is either dead or locked in isolation at the sword tomb. This is where we see Lu Zhao Yao visiting her old friends and seeing how they fair. This ending is bittersweet because while LZY is alone, we can see that the rest of the world is content/ at peace.
The alternate end sees LCL successfully seal the sword and walk together in the market, and then the same actors play the role of their offspring.
There's some scenes that take place in LCL's mind, mental space, or dream thrown in there too just to throw everyone for a loop.
Im not satisfied on the ending. Left me confused haha, but still i really enjoyed watching these cdrama. What a great artist

I should say this is the first chinese movie drama I watched with a very good and happy ending! However, they should have foreseen the confusion at the ending, they should have hired different child actor and actress to play the role as children of Li Chen Lan and Lu Zhao Yao. Overall, I'm satisfied and happy for the lessons I learned and episodes I watched! Job well done! Admiration to the people who were part of this whole movie and production. Keep up!~

I feel like they had to change and edit the original ending or sth. The editing was all over the place. All in all they used bits and pieces of other part to make up the ending. Li chen lan had to meditate for a long time to loose the demon essence which he did. And met Zhao yao. Its confusing because the clothing and her forehead mark made it seem like its from the past memory but it is actually them meeting in the future. And they had 2 children at the end which were played by them.

@@gyongyihuszak3288 no problem 😊 the editing got really weird and choppy towards the end and I thought the youtube version was not the full version and checked other sites. But it was still the same and then I found out about how the author wrote 20 ish eps but had to make it longer. The supposed ending was going to be open ending with sad undertone but fans of the novel were mad so I guess they tried to change it. Very weird ending indeed.

Xu Kai as Mo Qing and Li Chen Lan was awesome ❤ abrupt editing really left viewers confusing towards ending. Did Li Chen lan really turned devil before two episodes and killed wan lu sect people or that also was part of story happening inside the heart prying mirror showing the future? no idea.

After watching the Red Sleeve. I’m sceptical about predicting the last episode of this series. We can see she’s on white and wandering about Checking in on everyone without Li cheng with her. And then she is back on red and looks extremely different from what was shown earlier. I have cried my eyes and heart out and don’t know if Li Cheng and her were reunited or truly he was in isolation or dead while she was wandering around 😭😭🥹🥹🥹

Oh "Red Sleeve" that's one of the reason why I always check now if the drama is happy ending or not. The world is enough to give us stress, what's the need to add sadness in this cruel world. (Uncontrollably fond, Vagabond, Scarlet heart, Big mouth,) just giving you all a hint, if you're into sad ending kind of drama you can try these drama. Obviously there are still lots of more..... these are just some of the dramas I failed to check the plot and the ending and still finish it, cause I always finish what I've started whether it's a good drama or not. 🤦♀️

Its a happy ending. The bailu and xu kai in the last part are there children . Its just that its not that detailed

Completed this drama.
Quite a confusing drama to me, so many loose ends.
At times, can’t tell just which is which or what’s happening. In and out of reality. Made me wonder exactly what’s happening.
Sealed, not sealed.
Ending: They had children in the end. And their children looked exactly like them. The son pasted a fake scar on his face. And ya, the daughter looks exactly like Lu Zhao Yao. And both love green apples. Made me wanna go and buy green apples, but I don’t like these as they’re pretty sour. Haha

In this drama only hero heroine live together but docto gu hanguang died, most of them died and had no pair and they don't live together this is so sad for me atleast doctor gu shouldn't died 😢......this is worst ending

i feel the ending was altered because the drama becomes popular and the production wanted it to be happy ending (to cater to the audience) but they doesnt have enough footage to edit it nicely. (I heard it was supposed to be 20 something episodes but prolong to be 50+). We see that the scene become crappy at most during the second last episode especially after Luo Ming Xuan battle. Li Chen Lan/Muo Xing whom battling with his demon essence was brought by Zhao Yao to sword tomb for quick escape (or in attempt to seal the wanjun sword to contain his demon). However, Li Chen Lan sacrificed himself by letting Zhao Yao killed him using lightning sword, which he already knew that was supposed to be his end (as it was foretold when he retrieved the lightning sword as the sword will kill his retriever eventually and he knew too his killer would be Zhao Yao herself). And we see Zhao Yao try to find Li Chen Lan/Muo Xing body at the site where he fell, role reversal from what Li Chen Lan did when Zhao Yao "died" at early of the drama. She is heartbroken and crying so much.
The editing change here as it was shown to us somehow that scene when Li Chen Lan died is only Zhao Yao imagination or "future prediction" (i think it is to justify the happy ending and it is a waste of footage since they already shoot the scene for this one so somehow the production used it). Then we see Zhao Yao bring Li Chen Lan back to Wanlu Sect as he recovers from the battle, then with Sima Rong advice, both of them goes to Sword Tomb to seal the Wanjun Sword, and after 5 years, Li Chen Lan is still not coming back and Zhao Yao visiting her friends and having some monologue of what her thought on their love story. Then suddenly we got scene of the lightning sword flying, and our main couple at the sword tomb try to seal the wanjun sword and somehow Li Chen Lan manage to seal the sword (the lake where Li Chen Lan drop Wanjun Sword scene) and then we have scene of them walking together at the market. At last, we have scene of their children, boy and girl whom both inherited their face and appearance, which supposed to be happy ending (since they got children which means both of them are alive at some point of the time). The last scene maybe is just another unused footage for the scene at the beginning of the drama which somehow got voiceover to show this is different person and at different time. The end.
It's not seems rushed but maybe they dont have other footage to use to show the happy ending part and not sequenced/edited properly since i think it was planned or scripted to be sad ending.
i feel the planned ending is after Li Chen Lan fell at the sword tomb, Li Chen Lan died and be at peace (the scene when his subconscious/or spirit throw the wanjun sword into the lake) as he already knew that he will die at the hand of Zhao Yao and by Lightning Sword (as the world will be at peace without him because he is the original cause of what happen to everything in the story, without him, then everything will go back at peace/normal - we can understand this during li chen lan and zhao yao conversation making butterfly when he said he liked things in pair - which can be understood as he is not originally with the "pair" which broke the balance). Hearbroken Zhao Yao disappeared after Li Chen Lan died. After 5 years, she appear and visiting her friends, without Li Chen Lan at her side. The world is at peace but without Li Chen Lan. While walking on the street, and visiting the tea shop, listening to the storyteller, reminicing on their love story and what it taught her. The end.
This is sad ending and i dont like this ending not because it sad, but because it corrupt the meaning of fighting fate and destiny and proving others that a person could change his fate and strive to be better, and somehow get good ending without killing himself or sacrifice others.
Of course the ending that i want is happy ending. My ending version will be that after Li Chen Lan fell in the sword tomb, he already at peace (lake scene) because when the lightning Sword struck his heart, it removed the impurity demon essence in his body but doesnt kill him totally (this is important because what makes the world not at peace is the demon and not the person himself, by removing the demon shows one strive to be better and to understand that fate or destiny can be changed - to understand that he choose his fate like his last word to Zhao Yao, as he knew he need to take risk and use lightning sword to kill his inner demon). His body was retrieved and brought to ice cave/ Mu shan (as what happen to Zhao Yao earlier to preserve the body). Even after goes in and back for a few times from the land of sojourn to find Li Chen Lan/Muo Xing (they have land of sojourn so i think they can use this element in the story), Zhao Yao doesnt find Li Chen Lan. 5 years later she visited her friends while still not met him while reminiscing on her lovestory. But she doesnt know the butterfly Qin Qiang Xian whom transcended helped Li Chen Lan physically back to life (because he helped Zhao Yao with this kind of thing earlier and it also sentimental as Xiang Wu is also part of Qin Qiang Xian). Zhao Yao met Li Chen Lan while walking at the end of the street. They smile and walk together. -- then we can continue they got married properly, goes travelling the world (as the original intention of zhao yao coming out from the demon land is to see the outside world) and have kids. Maybe hey can give us one extra happy episode to properly end the drama. The end.

"Legend of Zhao Yao" can be called a classic good film. Bai Lu and Xu Kai acted very naturally and realistically. They look like a natural couple. I am looking forward to their new drama. but
In episodes 42 to 50, Li Chenlan is like a little wife. He should have killed the rogue pervert Jiang Wu long ago, and even Zhao Yao should be spanked. Zhao Yao flirted with the evil Jiang Wu who killed Wan Lu disciples indiscriminately. Especially in episode 50, her husband was sealed by Jiang Wu, and she cried for Jiang Wu? It's like a hidden version of abandoning Li Chenlan and Wan Lu disciples. This is not like Zhao Yao? What kind of logic is this screenwriter?

My honest review is that I did not really enjoy this movie.
There were many things in the storyline that did not just add up.
Asides that, it's as though the screen writer hates love, and decided to kill off all the other couples or did not allow them be together, both the couples from the good and bad side. They were over 15 couples in total and only just the Male lead and female lead could be together in the end? That's very poor.
Almost all the good people dieing too doesn't make sense at all. Just a few of them could have been okay. Especially the pretty boy and the Doctor's death was totally unnecessary.
And the movie was unnecessarily too long as well, I guess that's why there were too many confusion in the movie. How can majority of your viewers lay complaints?
Please do a better job next time.
