Summer 1988 and your mom has just rented the coolest new game for your Kingbit Entertainment System. As you play over the course of the day it becomes apparent something is different about this game than the other games you own.
Duck Season is a throwback to the golden age of 1980's gaming and movies with a hint of horror in a Spielburgian universe. Re-live a slice of childhood as you transported to an eerily familiar memory and play out the dark story that unfolds over a single day/night as your imagination takes over.

I see the graffiti on the playground in “Bone Works” of the dog. I do like how they tied this together.
It's an awesome shared universe, even when it's just little touches like that!
They have the same monkeys
@@xorophobic yeah in the first part of the game he’s sat on the sofa or coffee table I can’t remember which one despite playing it like 3 hours ago lol
My mind is blown!!! This is the best video ever!!! I love how you explain on how this all comes about...it makes it so clear now.. Im satisfied but my mind isnt...i know there still more secrets in both games...but we gotta wait for future games so everything will be explain...awesome video wolfman..love this new concept on easter eggs and explaining the lore of the story...hope you do more of these kinds of videos cz the wolf pack is certainly loving it so much!!! Thanks for this video!!
Glad you appreciated it so much! Really means a lot to me.
If we ever get to another game series where I need to deep dive into the lore or there is a ton of extra stuff to discover, I will definitely do it! Had a lot of fun with this one.
Heck out these reddit posts from a while ago to quench your mind still: I've updated my Boneworks/Duck Season story post for anyone who wants to delve deeper.

@@AWolfinVR duck season is in the bone lab/ boneworks universe mind blown
I love this analysis! I want to know more for the story... also Dead F.M might bridge it all together. I hope we see some familiar faces for that one
I do hope that down the line they tie it all together with some epic demon fights!
I love everything about this lore video! But something that is confusing me is why the Cat and the Monkey are completely inanimate. Sure, they are implied to be alive, but they don't really move like how the dog can.
Bonelab reveals that not only is Sabrelake aware of the cryptids, but also actively hunts them down.
Awesome video! Gets me thinking though. Since nothing seems to be a coincidence in these two games, I wonder why there was a recreation of the Duck Season house within the Boneworks (in the cafeteria area at the beginning of the game where you first see the enemies that shoot)? Was someone doing research on what happened there? And how does the player fit in? In the Duck Season death ending, the dog looks up at you, the player, and waves. You also repeatedly get access in Duck Season to what looks like the same giant room at the end of Boneworks where you climb the tower in the void.
I know this is an old comment, but as for the duck season house in boneworks, it's connected to a model of the monogon office, which could imply that they are getting void energy from the house since it has the cursed cartridge, the kid wizard book, the remains of the dog, the cat and monkey, etc.
And as for the player, the creators have confirmed that the voidway is like a space between alternate realities, including the world of the game and the real world, which explains how the dog sees us and waves, and how x talks to us and about the games
@@colelevel2654 Thank you! I always did wonder about this lol
He just blew my mind it all makes sense now
this is the best explanation ive seen, others go on AND ON about nonsense and not the game. thanks man
I wonder what they'll do for sabrelake. Unlike Gammon and monogon, its not a game or tech company, it works in security. And the logs at the end of duck season imply that they are either the most or least advanced in void research.
Dead FM, though, doesn't have an obvious company to put to it.
Edit: Except maybe Stress Level Zero itself, as versions of the company exist in-universe. I believe I saw another video that implied they were working on fantasy land.
So the void is basically the digital vr version of the warp from war hammer
I just found your channel while looking for Boneworks gameplay, and I’m glad I did! I love your commentary and I can’t wait to see your channel grow.
Thanks so much Cassie and welcome to the channel!
Awesome video. Different, but love how it ties in two of your best game series on this channel.
Thanks much! Definitely different but I think the story of these games needed it haha
Awesome, I just posted this video over on the Boneworks reddit, hoping you get some views over here. Great job and so far, loving Path of The Warrior.
Amazing analysis.
I still don't understand how consciousness can be transferred or how Ford somehow left copies of himself, but maybe this will be further explained in future games.
For the consciousness, all we really know is that the void energy allows them to do it. Not sure the process!
As for the other Fords, they are basically other saves in the game. Ford attempted this journey many times after he puts that headset on in the beginning. Since time is weird with the void, we never experience those, only this particular Ford. So those are Fords where he left a level early, or died, or reset the game, stuff like that. Other versions of him that became corrupt or altered. At least that's my theory!
I always assumed the cryptids latched onto something in the real world. In this case, they latches onto something close to david. I believe his dad DID wear that dog suit. And since david came close to the void, the cryptids used his personal connection to take the shape of the dog, the cat clock, and the sock monkey. David likely already had those toys before getting the game, but they were important to him, so the cryptids took those forms to escape through their connection to david.
I agree
I do feel like Arthur Ford is the kid from Duck Season... He's the only one who truly saw a cryptid outside of the void...
But why would he want to go back into that hell then? The motivation is really the only reason I don't see Ford as being David.
This is an awesome theory
I love the hall of the machine king reference. It’s a reference to hall of the mountain king song
3:13 was it only me who thought those were redstone blocks from minecraft :p
Thank you for explaining, cant wait for their next project
I agree with everything your saying it just makes so much since
Thank you for this 💪🏼
Oh great now I have another thing to be scared of when I’m having a good time
Does Hover Junkers tie into any of this? I see it was playable in Duck Season. Does that mean it's another game world, potentially to be corrupted or have things break out.
0:12 there is someone called game theoy and he knows what the void is
Idk if u know this but his real name is mat pat I’m pretty shure that’s his name I’m just telling u for the future if people don’t get you if u tell them game therory
3:15 BUT, why is there real blood in the Best Men ending?
That ending is not canon. There is only one canon ending. Where you kill him with the void energy gun.
Now i know what deadfm is its jimmy wong :D
I heard that the next slz game it will Hall of the Machine King. A guy went deep digging into duck season and found a poster that said that.
It better be! The art for it looked really, really cool.
A Wolf in VR
IKR I can’t wait
explaining my version of plot how I view it, bone work and duck season are the game plot of idea yes it is pose to be somewhat people feared in the future if anyone who didn't watch anime or some other show that involved jumping into digital world because the internet is going hook your brain to it and vr your thoughts then it is referring that to the games you play on duck season and boneworks, so later on the game will add 2 more game that is way different from one another which the game will provide some sort of horror in a way being trap in VR games which if anyone thinks about it the void is altered reality check which no one wanna ask how the void become a reality which no one asks for where did this negative matter come from originally which we might get 3rd game to pop out to see how this work or where it came from for ppl believed that the developer (not the real one, the one that is going be in-game probably in 3rd game) they might be in there explaining how or where they got it and thought it can be produce as producet or either they shook the hand with some sort of demon that actually cause an agreement between who is dealing with what bazaar stuff.
I actually think having the consciousness of people become food or energy for the Cryptids, and that being the reason these companies are working, is pretty interesting!
My mind is blown 🤯🤯🤯🤯😳
ultra mersion is a virtual drink...
You forgot to mention if the dog breaks the screen in duck season you are stuck in the game in ultramersion with no way out.
that's not the canon ending so it doesn't matter
There is only 1 canon ending in Duck Season and it's literally called Canon Ending
In boneworks your really just a smart ford
Ford could also be Ford but we don’t know exactly
If the dog is a demon then why is he nice at some endings like nuke
We all know for a FACT that vr will eventually take over the world
It only makes sense
Once that brain implant happens, we're done for.
Oh my cat! Awesome , Ahora lo entiendo mas
U know
It's a "bit" more than just a tech demo.
Here in 2022
Nice.
Can't wait to see what you come up with!
@@AWolfinVR Just posted Part 1. Curious to know your thoughts.

They do.
Wow

Wow, awesome explanation. Now the story finally makes sense to me, it's so amazing. I can't wait to see what will be in the next games and how the story will resolve. Thank you for making this explanation video Wolf. Great job! :D
Thanks much! Glad it helped. Putting all of it together really made me appreciate the games more too!
Boneworks is one of those games where you play it and finish it and go "what the fuck happened" and then watch a plot explanation on UA-cam and go "dude wait that's actually sick"
Didn't care for Duck Season, only did a "Don't Shoot The Dog" run as a joke, did a few levels of a normal run but the gameplay wasn't for me. After finishing Boneworks tonight and being confused and watching this, I'm not only interested in giving Duck Season another shot but I'm extra excited for the next SLZ game. Well, more so. Boneworks already had me pretty pumped.
Though, there is one question still plaguing me, one that plagued me my entire playthrough...
Who is Lavagang?
haha youre funny you deserve a like
This is a new type of video. I like it!
I'm glad! These take a lot more work, from writing a script, to finding dozens and dozens of clips, to editing. Glad it worked out well!
Been looking forward to this. Amazing video and I think it will be a huge success! I agree with almost all of your theories. The only thing I question is who Arthur Ford is, why he basically kills himself to hack MythOS and what his motives are to do it. I also think a big part of the full story will come from where David went when he left home. That was a kid in 1988 who saw a cryptid come out of a game, understood what happened and watched it slaughter his mom. Then, what? He left and got a job a car salesman and started a family? I don't buy that. I see him as dedicating his life to figuring this out and stopping it. I think he is going to be featured heavily in future games, unless it's as simple as David having to take on a fake identity and using the name Arthur Ford to once and for all stop the things that killed his mom and ruined his life. I don't think it's true, but I'd really like Arthur to be David. The age works. He's be in his early 40s now. But then who is X? And what is the story of the tricksters cat and monkey? Really looking forward to their next game but I'm put money on there being undiscovered secrets in Boneworks that will add a lot of clues.
I love that even after diving deep into the lore and studying these games, there is still SO MUCH left unanswered. I do hope that this stuff comes to light.
I'm not convinced about David, but it really does make sense. When you get to the first door before you fall into the Void, it has the baseball from Duck Season on it and the walls say Welcome Home. That's a pretty solid indicator that it could be David. Hope someone finds a bigger clue to that theory!
I cannot believe someone has managed to tell this lore in an understandable manner without droning on and milking it for much longer than it should take to explain, where are more of these concise lore videos when you need em... looking at you, MGS...
Scary because I've had several Boneworks dreams. Some were awesome, some were nightmares
Yeah that sounds about right haha
actually same
Are you getting any dreams still
Im about to go to sleep after finishing the game. Why did you have to say this?
I've been searching UA-cam every day for a video like this. Everything you said makes perfect sense to me so imma say it's canon. Though I wasn't sure about the Ford copies. I had a far out theory about them. I thought I remembered reading and hearing that the nullbodies were originally actual humans that had been harnessed for mythos, and I wondered if maybe they evolved to take on your attributes and relearn sentience. I think your explanation is better though.
Thanks for the kind words! The nullbodies are definitely AI created by Monogon...but I do think they were gaining human tendencies, be it through absorbing knowledge of people that were in Myth OS or through something like the Melon drink. I can dig that!
Wait, if the dog is just a digital demon with digital blood, why does he have real blood in the ending where he gets shot up? I always thought that the reason he had digital blood in the cannon ending was because of the game gun david uses.
A chunk of the endings in this game were just included for fun by the developers, including the police chase and the meme ending. My guess is they wanted the blood spraying to really hit how excessive the police were shooting him.
So should we call it the "Boneworks universe" or the "SL0 universe"
SL0 standing for "Stress.Level.0."
Probably the SL0 universe, since Boneworks is just one aspect of it, even if it is by far their biggest game so far.
I didn’t even know that wolf made this video! Thanks for the info!
Hey fnaf help wanted also expemeted with the void where a new entty was implemented
This whole series is actively changing the vr franchise as a whole while still making the games interactive and fun. I love these games and I hope the rest will soon come.
Hover Junkers wasn't included in this universe?
I’m the biggest SLZ lore fan ever and I have a theory: I’ve been following the SLUziverse for years now and I believe Arthur is infact the dog from Duck Season parading as David’s dad, he gains this power when he becomes the 4th dimensional void demon in Boneworks ending (the same one we see through out Boneworks and at the end). He does this so that he may set off a chain of event that release Void Energy that spills at the beginning of Boneworks so that he can become a the Void Demon at the end.
Also something to note: Duck Season isn’t the real world. It infact takes place in the Monogon facility we play through in BW, it was an experiment in the effects of Void Energy
I am so late to this one and I have no idea why I never noticed you played Duck Hunter! This explanation is so great. It makes the series make way more sense to me than any other. I knew the dog wasn't the dad (because it makes no sense why his dad would kill other families or his own!) but that's all the internet kept insisting on so I gave up on finding a good explanation for it after a while. Your explanation is so perfect though. Thanks so much, Wolf.
They have the same monkeys
I don't think the dog is a cryptid persay. I think that the same way there are multiple fords in boneworks there are multiple versions of the dad, or the dog. Though the dog is not technically the dad, he is a clone of the dad. The same way that ford attacks himself, or how ford just does random things is the same reason why the dog acts this way. This is also how the dog appears in so many places, because there are multiple dogs. The dog knows that he wants to reunite with his son, but because he is a clone he is more primal or goofier than his original self.
In the game, Boneworks is represented as a merely boarded up door (or voidgate according to easter eggs in Duck Season) leading to the voidway. It's actually a neat detail.
I wonder if the cryptids are just maybe animals that got sent into the void by accident and got corrupted like the null bodies and zombie fords. Just they’ve been apart of the entire void. Maybe tiny fractures can form making ways into the void itself and they just went through.
you forgot to mention, Aurthor Ford was the guy in the secret ending who was hacking into a pc to see a new game early
Hey now that bonelabs released DeadFM 98.6 or whatever it is is the channel jimmy or jay I cant remember uses to talk to the other lava gang members I think
I somehow clicked this exactly 1 year after upload... creepy! (January 16 2021)
At the end of the video you see The Null zombies or idk what you call them They shoot out some kind of Blue energy source The same energy sources that you use to kill the dog In the canon ending idk what it meand but a cool detail
Can we get an update with the bonelabs release???
Please man, this vid is SOOOOO good
btw i dont know if you know this but in the hovr junkers sandbox there is a tape calleed some dogs go to hell it is in the first house you see if you go up the the bedroom behind the bar there should be a secret room behind it
I just thought ultramersion was just the name of a vr energy drink
Only drink ultramersion
can't wait what he has to say about bonelabs
Ultra Mersion is a drink, not anything to do with the VR aspects.
Do you guys ever sleep? Postposterous found you. Fan!
Who else was intoduced to these games via game theory
This ...
Explains...
EVERYTHING!!!
not quite no.
Not quite everything, but I think it helps understand the structure of the story they are trying to create. Still a ton of mysteries yet to be solved but it's a good start!
Yep
plot twist..the father of the duck hunting kid is actually one of the first persons to see the void. PS, thanks for sharing all the endings and this connection. Can't ait for the next games.
Time for an update my friend
wow
that's amazing
The mic kinda sucks
It’s crazy to see how much lore these games have
The void is the void no one knows what void is just void my dudes void
I think Bendy is a cryptid.
bendy of the video Game batim
So the the reason Arthor in the real world, just sits down and then in the "VR" world he moves everywhere. I was wondering about that, and now I know. Its the Void.
SEEMS PERFECT
A wolf in vr: the void
Me: dont do the pose
Dont do the pose
DONT DO IT
T JOIN THE VOID
I get it
Awesome video!!!! Now the entire story makes sense!!!
Wow. That "Hall of the Machine King" concept is present in early versions of Boneworks, no joke. Specifically the playmodel.
ua-cam.com/video/dX3m8HiL-5c/v-deo.html (Node video, prior to Boneworks actually getting a title)
Great great great video, this helps a lot.
SWORD ART ONLINE OMG I LOVE |THAT SHOW HOL>Y FUCKING SHIT
SUGOIIIIII XD
I imagine the monkey and the cat Easter eggs in boneworks are actually microcosms of the cryptids leaking through the void.
Dead fm and hall of the machine king were both originally Boneworks and in their vr video made last year was dead fm AND boneworks they were connected and dead fm was a zombie survival game and hall of the machine king was a horror game
I heard a theory that David from duck season and Arthur from boneworks are the same person, just years apart following the canon ending
This video helped so much now i actually understand the story thank you so much
Incredible job this Is so interesting ;D
Thank you so much!
I saw the cat in the house with the other kid in the trapped ending
Could X be Jimmy from bonelab?
I thought the same thing after playing. It's a possibility for sure
You did a good job with this video man!
Awesome !👏🏻
Just linking myself to where i left off for later.
