But it is actually a new person that is created in that process. The anime/manga touches basicly on what happens with a person if they are in enough power. You know you have made some great music when it can be listened to without watching the show and the character can be understood anyway. The guitar implies innocence, the electric guitar is heavy so it implies a deep change in character, the piano causes the electric guitar to blare louder so it implies an enemy, the drum beat is used to increase intensity, the increasing pace heavily implies a building of constant pressure, the cut off point implies a sudden shift in the story, as if the piano had been cut short, the guitar going with it. Masterful music.
I think the clean guitar represents the personality of light before the death note, and the electric with distorsion represents the evil, wile bass is just the people around him without noticing about him
Whenever the high pitched guitar hits in, i feel nostalgic and sad even though i was 4 when this anime came out, im watching it when im 17, still feel like it was connected for over a decade
I think it's even more sinister than that. All the fans say "look how good Light could have been, because without his memories this is what he reverts to", but the Light we see without his memories is different even than the Light we see at the start of the show before he finds the Death Note, Light at the start was apathetic, bored and borderline depressed. At the end of the day, Light could never be happy without a challenge infront of him, whether that was being Kira or trying to solve the Kira case. I think the deliberate similarities drawn between him and L's style of thinking was a way to show us these geniuses (L, Near, Mello) arent trying to catch Kira out of the goodness of their hearts, there's an unsolvable mystery and they're here to try and solve it. Light never looked more alive than when he was genuinely trying to find who Kira was. Conversely, the show explores people's motivations, does anyone think L would have refused to use the Death Note if it had first appeared next to him?

What's crazy is, when light got his memories back, he said something along teh lines of "I knew id want to help them catch kira" he knows that in his heart he is a good person, but at the very end of that episode, light died, and all that was left was kira. and then in the final episode, when he realized he's nothing but a crazed serial killer, kira leaves, only leaving light.

More than evil, I believe Light is a tragic chacacter. If he hadn't found the Deathnote he probably would've been a good Cop like his father, as shown when he lost his memories. The duality between a psycopath with no scruples to achieve his goals and a brilhant young man with a strong sense of morals and justice is what makes the character so interesting. The song represents well this duality.. There's a feeling of knowing you've been doing unforgivable things, but you can't take it back, so you can only move forward with it. English isnt my native language, I tried to express my ideas the best way I could.
Everyone be cappin that Lelouch achieved more than Light... Lelouch owned the world at the end of Code Geass (episode 50), Light basically achieved that after L's death (episode 26) - Light's only problem was to stay in that position as god of the new world and after like 5 years he failed because Mikami made a mistake. Lelouch didn't have this problem because he chose the easy wait out right after he just took over the world. Otherwise after some time he'd also probably get killed by some 12 year old near-like-character. That's why Light is better than Lelouch.
