I'm so thankful I found your channel. I'm a returning Catholic after many decades and I'm struggling with prayer. I love our Lord so much. I have many books and am slowly reading them and sometimes I go back to read again, even looking up different definitions. I'm in the U.S. and we must have a revival of prayer.
God Bless you and I pray for the Clergy and all nations.
    Come Holy Ghost.
    Ave Maria

As a retired Cathoic priest I can confirm his words are true. We were never taught how to pray; we were never taught the history of the Mass from Latin to English; we were never taught mental prayer; we were never encouraged to practise the roasry or spend time in adoration. Those who did were ridiculed. Those who were friends of dorothy shaped the seminary and as the book said.. why did all the good men leave? Well, a lack of formation and an abundance of outrageous behaviour from those of the James Martin persuausion who still control the Church in the U.K. and Ireland to this day

Thanks Robert. This video is a prayer challenge for me..I am a marginal Catholic but I listen to your videos and this one resonates with me big time. I am going on a mission to read, understand and commence competemplative prayer. God bless you for your commitment to Christanity.

True. How can we complain about our priests. They cannot teach something they do not know themselves.

Asking the seminary to teach seminarians, “how to pray” is sort of like asking culinary school to teach people how to eat.🤔 I think sometimes we over complicate the spiritual life?

Not sure what you mean by no one teaching people how to pray.
You have all kinds of said prayers, the hours, the Rosary, all kinds of devotions.
The problem is not the lack of training, but the lack of the will of people to pray.

All of those forms of prayer are extremely important, they lead to contemplation. Sadly there are very few priests who will actually guide a soul into contemplation.

Regarding prayer, Jesus told His apostles: "When you pray, say 'Our Father in heaven hallowed by Thy Name ...(Mt 5:9-13). Prayer is not a science to be taught but rather it is an attitude to be practised. It is an attitude of openness to God who initiates all prayer. Whenever we pray it is God dwelling within us that initiates the prayer. Prayer, then, is our response to God calling us to enter into an intimate relationship with Him in which we express our self verbally or non-verbally, formally or spontaneously. The old Catechism answered the question, "When should we pray?" by saying, "Pray always, in all dangers, temptations and afflictions." Prayer is the result of a constant consciousness of God as our loving Father-protector, Son-Redeemer, and Holt Spirit Sanctifier living within us and among us in His Church. Prayer is not simply saying prayers - we can say lots of prayers but not be pray-ers. We cannot be Christians without prayer and just as being Christian is not something we do periodically so prayer is not something we say but rather our ongoing relationship with God the Father through Jesus His Son inspired by the Holy Spirit of truth and love.

Thanks for the stab-in-the-heart REMINDERS. Maybe this is what is meant by Church Militant. You’re a passionate swordsman . Works for me and I hope for others who may also be a bit wishy washy with prayer; a bit sentimental, and probably off the mark.

During Saturday night vigil 25-05-24 In Carrick on Suir Tipperary, ''Father Jimmy'' during his sermon, told us, the congregation, that Religion and been a Catholic was not needed and that he didnt know what happened to any of us after Death. During the same sermon he said He believes we could be reincarnated. Has Father Jimmy lost the plot or his faith or both ? Its completely against the Bible and Catholicism to even entertain any notion of reincarnation. There was just something so off about his entire sermon apart from what he was saying.

Things are bad in the Church post Vatican II. I am sorry you left, but I truly understand the temptation. However, I would not have left Jesus or Blessed Mother, I would have gone Sedevacantist.
Since you are on this thread, I assume you returned to the Church, but one of the problems in the Church post V2 is that folks started bringing other religious practices/methods especially eastern ones, into the Church....syncretizing the Faith & practice...The Mess is Huge now! We have to return & keep the Traditional practice & doctrine. ❤🙏🙏🙏
