We all about the same! Sc, Al, Ky. I see all types of lifestyles on the road. I have a gas station at home where guys stand outside just like this and people watch.
Weird people at gas stations and boat ramps are one of the big reasons I’m constantly carrying while I head out to the lake. People can be really strange.
🤣 I don’t feel like they were strange. They were just curious. Small town America needs something to talk about and I was just the subject for that morning.

Brian, I just got and not yet installed live scope on my boat. Curious if you feel it is an efficient search tool and if so why are you not using it to more in the search ??
I can just about bet it was the marathon off 293 lol. Im from MS. I have lived in SC (Columbia), central Fl lakeland, Homosassa, and NY on long Island, and i can say without a dout that when you pull up with that nice rig and they see whos driving it. They envy/hate it. 😂 they feel like you shouldn't have that. And who are you! lol i just smile and wave and tell them the Lord is looking for um. Safe travels bro. And. When youre in Brooksville i was always outta town.
Yep, I grew up on the deep south, so I can relate to those types of encounters. I'm just glad these dudes didn't decide to call the local sheriff about a suspicious looking character driving a Mercedes RV, pulling a tricked out bass boat. Most men who are friendly respectfully introduce themselves, or compliment the rig you're driving In a pleasant manner. These dudes talked amongst themselves, then sent the boldest one over to ask personal questions. I know B Lat was a bit wary...and on guard.
I’m from northern Illinois and I had the same experience down there in the same area. Walked into a gas station to get a fishing license and it was like a scene out of a movie. The door squeaks and all the locals turn around and stare at you like you’re an alien. Major “YOU AIN’T FROM AROUND HERE IS YOU” vibes. Met a cool guy that was selling firewood who called me and my buddy yankees lmfao!!
When I was a Tanker in the Army we had a saying about those yellow flowers “Tankers don’t go where the yellow flowers grow” at Fort Polk La. That was a big thing. I saw many tanks sunk to the turret with yellow flowers all around.
Brain, you think maybe they were just staring at your rig and not you. I fish Kentucky lake all the time and when the pros come I like looking at their rigs. Guess I better stop, I wouldn’t want someone to get the wrong idea.
I fished two tournaments on Kentucky Lake, first tournament big goose egg and the second tournament barely paid for a tank full of gas for my boat. Brian got a question, Are ya’ll able to go to the lakes your getting ready to fish for the tourney like a week early and find spots and things before the tournament starts a week later?
@@BrianLatimerFishing I mean say you have a tournament at a lake that you know you gotta head to can you go to that lake for like a few days weeks before any of the tournament stuff starts. Just to get a lay of the land so to speak.
Honestly I always thought it was just me. I'm kind of glad you hit on the subject Brian, now I know its not just me. I go through something similar every time I stop with my boat. I have a Pheonix 920 Elite and it is a nice boat, but its not like people don't see bass boats all the time. No exaggeration, whenever Im yanking my boat and stop at a gas station or something, a conversation with a local always ensues. Its never anything malicious, but it always feels weird to me. Like yes I get it you don't see many black people with bass boats, and in the rural areas where you are typically accessing these bodies of water they don't see many black people in general. Its like I pull into a gas station in these areas, and they arent expecting someone that looks like me to jump out and when they see me all of a sudden that boat becomes a unique phenomenon that inspires conversation. Its never been any mean or aggressive encounters but it is weird, because bass boats are fairly common and it just leaves a begging question inside. If I didnt look like me would we be having this conversation, because the lake is right up the road its not like you dont see bass boats all the time.
It's the passive aggressive and we seem to be the only people having to over explain and be over polite. To allow them to feel safer. Stuff gets tiring
I was stationed at Fort Campbell and would fish Kentucky Lake often. When we launched or people saw us on the water, some folks would gives us weird looks 😂
Tn river and cumberland only two rivers to travel south to north ky lake is like 180k acres and Barkley lake is 86k acres and they are connected and run adjacent to it
Amazing the bubble I live in here in the DMV (DC, MD, VA metro area for those that don't know). But those encounters are far few in between here. But mannnnn if i drive 60 miles south towards and past Richmond, VA, ill be back in the area where those encounters are more than common! LMAOOO(it sucks but what can i do)OOO!
How tall are you? I like the idea of the van. I have never seen a van I could stand inside of though. I had to watch my head when I rode the bus in school. I’m assuming it’s not just a normal sprinter van, but even still, I’ve never seen a van that was even remotely close to being safe for 6’3” to walk through half awake. They just let me stop wearing a helmet full time not long ago. Rather keep it that way from now on if I could help it. 😂😂
My friend, I am from Ky, Dale Hollow is my home, Ky Lake is a regular stop for me. Now....PLEASE, PLEASE don't assume most folks....wait....more than a few residents here are of the ignorance the man has you met at the pump. Some of us, like myself, are from the southern/eastern part of the state, and speak with "lazy tongue ". That guy COULD have said "What event are you here for?", but instead said "What are you here for?". EVERYONE in Benton, Aurora, Cadiz, Draffenville, and Paducah would have KNOWN you were there for a bass tournament. EVERYONE. Sometimes we don't fulfill sentences with lots of context. And what's so strange about smoking while drinking coffee?? Man, I have UPMOST respect for you, but it is almost like you went in to Ky with a predetermined notion that you were going to experience a negative moment of which you meant. There are many "simple" folk here that don't see a tall van pulling a bass boat. (Remember me asking how you loaded and unloaded in your post back when you first got the van?) We aren't used to seeing a rig like that. The VAST majority of us here in Ky are friendly, welcoming people. Some times old fogies flare off with what's on their mind, they are knuckleheads. I hate your first experience in some time in Ky was one that made you feel unwelcome. As a WKU Hilltopper, Cardinal Fan, and bourbon fan, we're not that way, we've evolved beyond the Civil War.
I’ve lived in Louisville, KY most of my 48.5 years on earth, excluding the 7 years I lived in Hawaii and Louisville is not like any other city in KY. I’ve travelled throughout the United States and have traveled quite a bit out of the country as well and I’ve seen more interracial relationships in Louisville than anywhere I’ve ever traveled. Louisville is just so much different from the rest of the Kentucky. For about a 10 year span me and some buddies fished Kentucky Lake twice a year. It never fails though, when at Kentucky Lake we always got “Deliverance” vibes. We’ve been told a many of times by passers by in cars while fishing under overpasses to “get off of our lake!” The exact comments were “niggers get off of our lake”! Not everyone down there is like that at all, I’m not saying that, but we got that way more often than one would expect. Living in Louisville, I’ve never experienced anything close. Love your videos and keep it up!
Hate to hear that from KY myself. Weird enough most racist person I ever meet was a buddy’s grandma, she is black and hates white people, I was like wtf lmao
It’s a whole different country down in Marshall County where he’s at. In Louisville 1 in 4 people are black, in Marshall County it’s closer to 1 in 400. You’re around 6 times more likely to run into a Hispanic person than black.
Lots of people ask what my power poles are for. I was asked in Detroit if there was any water nearby. We were 5 minutes from the Detroit River. All those bass boats, are you in a fishing tournament. Naw,, we're having a spelling bee.
I feel bad. My son and I crossed paths with you there in Duncan Bay. We were coming out of the very back of the creek as you were going back. I tried to give you room, but had to cut back to our right to get back into the creek channel because I was hitting bottom with my trolling motor. You spun around and went back out onto the flat. I felt like you had thought that we were trying to push you out. That was absolutely NOT the case. I apologize if you thought that's what we were doing. I kinda wish you would've went on back because the little backwater back there was full of beds. We didn't catch any monsters but man was there a bunch of males there. I bet we caught 15-18 keeper bucks before we left. They were still biting, but we had. To get back to camp.

@@BrianLatimerFishing your welcome
I'm right up the road from LBL.. those lakes are hit or miss day to day.
If the water drops and temperature drops then the fish would move to deeper/warmer water, correct?
Not necessarily!!!
Pretty cool * Your at the Ramp making your lunch ! Cool set up ! Mr story Teller 😅 ! Hope the lunch meat ain't from the $ General?? 😅😅😊 ! Peace Brian
It was literally groceries from dollar general 🤣
Growing up here I could tell you some stories lol 😂
Thanks.
Watching the blog to see how the tourney goes
Lots of people ask what my power poles are for. I was asked in Detroit if there was any water nearby. We were 5 minutes from the Detroit River. All those bass boats, are you in a fishing tournament. Naw,, we're having a spelling bee.
I think soft shells are meaner than snappers. They move pretty quick on land to.
Storytelling now that's a good story..thats funny if I drive a truck like that I sure as hell wouldn't be shopping at Dollar General😂😂😂😮 11:08
