The table came out beautiful but please sharpen the chain on your chainsaw 😂 It was killen me watching you. Im an arborist so I get all kinds of wood and want to start doing some woodworking, thats why this video caught my eye. Did you have the wood drying for any particular amount of time? Thats been my worry, that the wood wont be dry enough and will expand or contort and ruin the piece as I do not have the cash to drop on a moisture meter at this time.
Hi, thanks for reaching out to me. I bought the chainsaw sharpening equipment recently, I started recording the video months ago, now I should have it sorted. The wood should be maple or oak I'm not sure, it was given to me as a gift. The drying of wood depends on various factors, the lower the thickness the quicker the wood will be workable. I have kept these 5cm/2.70inch wood slices in a place with stable humidity for a couple of years. Watching videos on UA-cam I learned that wood is ready for processing when the humidity inside the wood does not increase or decrease. It will never be possible to achieve perfect stability also because the humidity in the place where the table will be used will be different from that of your work office. For this reason I advise you to study the strategies that exist to prevent the wood from breaking when it moves, such as adding a steel bar inserted into the length of the wood or not inserting screws into holes that are too narrow without giving the wood the possibility of moving with the changing seasons and therefore humidity. It's an endless discussion but there is a lot of useful material on UA-cam to understand how to prevent wood from breaking. But the fundamental thing is to start with your own hands and if the table breaks in the future we will be able to fix it in the most correct way. I hope I helped you. See you soon.
