Lege trappenhuizen, huiselijke interieurs, verwrongen perspectieven, onherkenbare enigmatische figuren zijn de voornaamste elementen van Serneels’ esthetische vocabulaire. De tentoonstelling in De Garage vertrekt van de schetsboeken die Stefan Serneels de laatste jaren gebruikt. Ze vormen een intiem laboratorium, bieden ruimte voor reflectie en tonen de meest zoekende kant van de kunstenaar.
The multidisciplinary work of Stefan Serneels (1961) presents a dark and ominous universe. Empty staircases, domestic interiors, distorted perspectives and unrecognizable, enigmatic figures form the main elements of his aesthetic vocabulary. The exhibition at De Garage centres on the sketchbooks Serneels has used in recent years, which constitute an intimate laboratory, offer space for reflection and reveal the artist at his most exploratory.
