  • On Monday 20 June, 2022, Honourable Dr Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, from India’s Supreme Court, delivered a distinguished lecture at King's College London. The Justice charted the evolution of human rights, and discussed the Indian Constitution and the role of India’s Supreme Court in “conceptualizing civil rights". He cited cases and debates on gender inequality, domestic violence, the role of the caste system, the ongoing struggle for LGBTQ rights, recent developments in disability law, and India’s use of capital punishment.
