  • Immunology is an exciting area of biomedical sciences and immunologists are employed by a wide range of organisations and in careers across science and medicine from the NHS, pharmaceutical/biotech industries to universities. This video from the British Society for Immunology meets some people who have studied immunology and finds out about their career paths and the sectors they now work in.
To help us better understand the career progression of immunologists, we have also launched a careers survey. If you studied immunology at university or work in immunology now, please take our survey at bit.ly/BSIcareers to help us learn more about your experiences and views on immunology careers.

@@oliviajones8874 it’s not that hard but can I ask why you’re doing it? Money or do you actually love it or are you using it to get into medicine? I am very straight forward so I will tell you the truth about the industry once you tell me why.

@@fader1912 not money thanks for assuming that lol. I love science, and I don’t think I’ll be getting the grades to do medicine or even if I’m smart enough, so I really want to do something similar, to either research medical biology or work within the nhs

@@oliviajones8874 better to be safe than sorry but I just didn’t want you thinking this is a way to get rich because it would be a waste of time, money and energy. 😂
If you truly love science then yes it’s definitely very interesting. I used to work in the NHS but now I work in private and it’s way better. I would genuinely think about why you’re doing it but also look at the modules on the course and research them and see if you like them. I would say if you truly love science and you’re one of then you’ll be fine but don’t do it if you’re looking to go into medicine after because by the time you finish it you’ll be burnt out. Also right now I’m trying to find a position for portfolio but it’s extremely difficult and MAKE SURE your uni that your going to, their biomedical science/biomedicine course is accredited. This is the no.1 thing. Do not fall for big russle groups uni who are not accredited like kings etc
