what they need do take away electric dirt bike and bring more race tracks or if people want electric dirt bike they are more race tracks shutting down they need do take away electric
cooksey has no balls whatsoever. its funny how him and his weird ass fans always make this claim. see everyone else in the media will eventually report on this as the facts begin to come out. cooksey doesnt give a shit about the accuracy of his "reports", he just wants to stir shit up and get people to view his weak ass channel. He is the equivalent of a brian stelter or joy behart or any of those whackos from the view. He just "reports" shit before he actually knows all the details of anything. Anybody who actually takes him seriously are guys who ride faster in the pits than on the track
Yes but its also the individuals who had sued who are to blame as well. And the lawyer. Insurance companies are just doing the math of how much money they risk. Yes they overcharge, but if these lawsuits weren't winning they wouldn't have to charge so much.
Yea the problem is the insurance companies have made it so lucrative, with their deep pockets, for lawsuits to be filed for anything and everything. Lawyers know how to work the system to get large settlements from insurance companies without taking most lawsuits to trial.. our "justice system" is the biggest waste of time dealing with outdated laws and letting corporations destroy America from the inside out
Not helping you have these little soy boys who want to sue a track. Weasels! Everyone who throws a leg over a dirt bike knows the inherent risk. Comes with the territory. If people are sue happy , they should be playing tennis or soccer. Taylor's are trash for allowing this...plain and simple. They just ruined a riding spot for hundreds of riders so they could get a freaking pay day. Disgusting people.
We use to have empty fields, abandoned sand refineries, chat mines, trails along the river....those are all gone now. Pretty much tracks and private trails. If the AMA did what THEY SAY THEY DO....they would be helping these tracks! They definitely have the money to help!
This has been known for decdes. This is why the manufacturers like Yamaha and Suzuki quit making off-road bikes like the Yamaha ITs and WRs and Suzuki PEs and RMXs to be imported to the USA: They knew our riding areas were going to go bye-bye.
Jack and Tony Barbocovi are father and son track owners. Their family member -- Jeff Barbacovi, Tony's younger brother -- was injured at the track and passed away many years ago. They endured that and kept the sport alive there.
Jack is Anthony's grampa, Tony was Anthony's dad..Jack was Jeff and Tony's dad, and both Jeff and Tony passed away. The Barbacovi's...LOVE LACR, it is their LONGTIME passion and they are all nothing but great kind people that have ran and provided us with a badass track to ride Insane to lose LACR over the greed of a former pro sx/mx rider..that grew up riding his local track...LACR. We are 100% Team LACR
Regarding the Rich Taylor situation, you're 💯% right it was their own damn fault. As motocrossers, we know what we do comes with substantial risks, and unless you were taken out by a track worker crossing the track on a bulldozer, it's 99.9% of the time our fault. Taylor is just a money grubbing sleazeball who cares about no one but himself and his dumb kid.
AMA sucks we run a local enduro series in nj,pa races are getting shutdown left and right! 80years some of these events have been going on ama nowhere to be seen!
Former AMA member and politically active rider. Took the AMA Get Involved courses etc. My Local State owned public riding area was being shut down. Contacted the AMA people I met at the courses. They told me to contact the Blue Ribbon Coalition because the AMA didn't want to get involved in land closure issues.
I am so bummed.. 💔☹️😔This is my home track. As it is the last remaining track closest to Los Angeles surrounding areas. This track was always so prime, perfect sandy dirt, literal spoiled motocross. So sad no more Wednesday rentals with Rob Healy. Socals lost so many tracks.. Piru, Milestone, Comp Edge, Star west, AV motoplex, 333. LACR hurts the most for me
love your videos brother!! this ones hits me hard to be honest. I recently had a nasty crash at LACR this summer that left me paralyzed. I love this place . I live right down the street, been riding this track every weekend for a few years now and even some on week days I didn't work. but anyway, I had high hopes of modifying my bike and getting back out there, but not now. huge low blow.
So I am a 70 year old SoCal dirt bike guy. This shit has been happening, in one way or another, for decades. Indian Dunes, Carlsbad, Saddleback, and many other tracks have fallen prey to this shit. Also...tons of off road riding areas have been closed, restricted or highly regulated, for many of the same reasons....lawsuits and litigation. Signed releases mean nothing, when wealthy property owners are involved. They will take our money, but not support us. Sad scenario...but we are mostly stuck.
I'm there with you Gary, 70yo, been watching the decline in tracks & riding areas since the late 70s. Dirt bike riding/racing is dying a cancer type death.
It's pretty sleazy what Rich Taylor is doing and the measures he's taken just to put a few bucks in his pocket. In my case, Hawaii's pretty lucky that most of the tracks aren't in danger of shutting down because hardly any pros have come by as of late. Good stuff as usual, Cooksey.
Thank you cooksey! I know you spoke with my dad yesterday and he absolutely loves what you bring to our sport. This video was greatly needed and I appreciate what you do🤘🏻
NHRA and IHRA provides insurance to drag strips or the cost would be outrageous . The tracks have to meet certain standard to be sanctioned by these bodies
wow, another track going under because of lawsuits this country is sue happy. legal firm's getting extremely wealthy, along with insurance companies at the expense of the average citizen. Back in the very early 70s Rolf Tibblin used to have a two week school that he held at Carlsbad raceway teaching riding techniques and conditioning, he would take his students to the Oceanside beach and they would exercise and run along on the sand and do all kinds of exercises. My friend went to it, but I couldn't afford it as my single parent mom had no money for anything like that.
I’m glad you brought up the AMA. Where are those guys? It seems like another United Way. Pay everyone on your team but don’t do much in terms of why the org exists in the first place.
If tracks aren’t closing due lawsuits and complaints, then they’re turning into “private” training facilities-shutting their doors to public riding. The sport is destroying itself.
I love your channel You make so many good points. I wish you would get more subscribers. I'm trying to let others know about you. Thank you for putting this out I look forward to your videos You do a really good job.
I was at Race Tech talking with a team Honda test rider and a support rider. He was a champ in his country. He talked about how everyone over here is lawsuit happy. 2 weeks later he crashed and was paralyzed. Sued the track because he hit a rock. Ironic since he said we’re sue happy. The track was financially forced to close.
I don't even live in the USA, but this damn sucks! So sad to see my friends who do live there, they are losing riding tracks and areas everywhere. We are a dirt bike community globally!
Tracks need to go “club style” ESOP model A membership buy in .. can’t sue yourself Ownership stake run as an LLC with a trust parent shell company For instance 1800 membership with an upkeep paid when visiting to ride …my insurance guy quoted $15-17k a year However they be “buying in” with a share in the club, the use fee would be called an upkeep or (OA) fee Same location in a “public” model was largely uninsurable save for one underwriter was $6500 a month😂😂
something similar is happening where I live. There used to be 4 mx tracks in my area and 3/4 closed down. 1 closed down because it was bordering some guys property, 1 closed down because it was sharing the same property as a car racing track and people were complaining that on windy days there would be dirt on the track and another closed because I think they weren't making enough money. Now we are left with 1 track and I think this track is also going to close in the next 2 years because they are building a new road that goes pretty close to the track and if that ever happens we'll have no where to ride anymore and I'll either have to move cities or start riding Enduro which is not really my style
Cooksey did a video a while ago talking about the injury when it happened, if I’m right the dad signed the waiver for his son but his son was an adult so the dads signature was voided and the son never technically signed one himself and then got hurt racing.
Many years ago I worked for a car racing team and one of our customers were very successful commercial real estate developer. When we traveled to a racetrack either for a club race or track day his funny side came out and on track entrance he would always sign a waver with a fake name ( mind you he was creative with names). When i asked him why he would do that he explained it to me that it doesn't matter what you write or sign on waver because none of it have a legal strength nor anyone checks ID and if he's a reason of an injury he can also argue that his name was not on a sign-in sheet (its not him entering the track) nor rule sheet. He sad if you need and want to sue a track you will be able to do so, and if you cause issues at the track you can play the game other way. Mind you that was in 2008-2010 and i was a fresh 20 some years old pickle and that comment has still stayed with me.
His kids not hurt. he may have gotten a boo boo but dont we get little bumps n bruises when we weed ourselves??? there was no broken bones from the info i got. but please let know im wrong or right when i say " nobody got seriously injured"
There’s so much more to insurance. And No - the medical insurance does not say to sue the track but there is the fact the medical insurance will try to recover if the track is liable or settles. In so many cases it’s just the fact that even if they weren’t liable, they will settle to avoid/save costs and runaway verdicts. So it’s just a slippery slope/ugly fact that yes - insurance premiums go up and then gate fees go up etc…. But in the big scheme of things - the premiums the tracks pay are far less than the costs of any claim or lawsuit. Just a bummer when someone in the industry does this, when they could take responsibility and take care of their own.
Im a trooper and every car crash has attorneys involved and injuries even if the cars have barely a scratch. Its absolutely insane i couldn't imagine owning a track and being sued for everything 😢
We should do a go fund me for "public" motocross tracks that can pay for a maintenance crew but take the liability from a sole owner or two. I always thought a Moto community surrounded around a few tracks and other extreme sports where buying a house in the neighborhood would get you ownership in the "club" and keep people from suing themselves? Just some ideas but I'm down for the cause maybe Tomac will sell or donate his place in a couple years 🤔
The AMA is Beyond Horrible. Really wish with local level races etc. Us racers weren't required memberships. And memberships with NO benefit to anyone or organization at that...
"There's no way to learn" UA-cam, MX Factory, Moto Academy, and just about anywhere a half dozen pros that offer very reasonable 1 on 1 or small group classes. I'm in D6 and can think off the top of my head of 5-6 open classes I could have taken within 40 minutes drive in the last month, not counting private sessions.
I was thinking the same thing. Also here in socal so many coaches are here willing to help people learn and I know a guy with a private track that can teach people too
So did Dean's parents put hime on a bike too fast for his age or let him on a track with jumps. Maybe a slower bike and a flat track would have been better suited to a child that age.
I'm coming back from a bad head injury myself. The only thing I've been looking forward to is being able to ride and go to the track again. In December would mean I've been hurt in bed for a year and now I'm finally starting to get a little better and I am going to have no tracks to go to. I am so bummed about this. I ride and race at the tracks. I don't really ride desert that often. This sucks.
I spoke to Adam Bailey and Eric Peronnard, they claim there was never an agreement in place for Deegan to race the event. Eric's exact response was "I never had Deegan on the roster" I'm not going to read through the whole thread, but Anderson admitted already he was never planning on going (Kawasaki won't allow it) but he commented for fun / stroke the flames. Someone posted this on X. Any truth to this cooksey?
Deegan had not signed the contract, but terms were agreed and he was going. Anderson, might not have had plans but they made it clear they didn't want him there, and he never misses an opportunity to mess with the Lawrence camp.
Technically what they said is true, but they moved mountains to get the offer for Deegan only to have the Lawrence camp squash it. It was agreed in principle, but technically he was never signed and on the “roster”
Please check out Northern Minnesota track. I'm old but there tracks are top notch. Brookstone Mn echo valley. Staples MINNESOTA. And Little falls . My boys race and practice there. And my daughter has worked there with a great pay. And Mora bermbenders. Is a great track with awesome safety with and shift!!
I raced through the 70s. I saw the number of tracks grow to 4 or so in a 100 mile area to 1 by 1980. I made most of my living in the motorcycle industry & have watched it's decline over the last 50 years. The #1 reason has been insurance cost in all aspects of the industry. #2 is cost. I believe the cost of a motorcycle has grown more than inflation being the soul reason. #3 is loss of riding area when it comes to dirt bikes, the hazards of street riding for the non-knobby riders. But in present times,,, just too many wooseys!!! Society is so damn soft & scared,,,,
I really don’t get the mentality behind suing tracks I crashed and got a bad concussion at glen Helen but I didn’t sue them I rode there the next month. Most riders are pretty passionate about riding and would never target riding spots no matter what because they know the impact of them closing down. Now everywhere else will be more crowded and dangerous
I got rid of every EKS goggle i ever had. Bye! I will never wear them again. My best friend owns Sleepy Hollow MX in PA and i know what he goes through to keep it running. What a disgrace to our sport. It would be amazing if he did what you suggested and paid their insurance.
The blame for high insurance rates, track closings, and lawsuits falls on all of us. Most of California votes Democrat. Nothing wrong with free choice, but because California has a mostly Democrat legislature, Califonia has some of the highest settlements/verdicts in the country, the most litigation when disasters happen, and the most hostile environments to insurance companies and small businesses. I know this firsthand as a lawyer. Dont hurt yourself patting yourself on the back for not being one of the ones who claim not to sue. Everyone, and I mean everyone, when they have a chance to sue for something, does so. Even those who formerly railed against people filing lawsuits sue when they think they can recover. It is hypocracy at its finest. I do not know what happened in the case that is the basis for the lawsuit. That one lawsuit, however, is not why tracks cannot find insurance. Remember lawsuits do not exist without first a person deciding to sue. There are some dirtbag lawyers out there, but lawsuits don't exist only because of lawyers. It is also the person who decided to sue in the first place. There is a long list of reasons for the current problems - the main ones are that at least half of the citizens of California voted for politicians who pass laws and/or individuals who sued when they had the chance, even if they claim to hate lawsuits.
I think you should have touched base on the criminal activity they partook in that day. I mean, his dad was mad they wanted to use a stretcher, then somehow his father suited up signed a waiver and the races an LLAR as his son. How did that not fk them?
My very first question is. Why the f isn’t the AMA helping with tracks, and riding areas? They haven’t done shit! Stop giving money to the AMA, through races etc. They aren’t helping with anything.
AMA is a joke. Look at how they've allowed mx tracks to ban quads from them. They're directly in control of ATVMotocross. The riders involved have been screwed because of their negligence. No system has been put into place assuring that people in the mx quad industry aren't screwed over.
What are the details on the rich Taylor thing? I’m assuming his kid got hurt? Did he like hit something that wasn’t supposed to be there or some weird circumstance? Or is it like more of a kicking and screaming situation?
Not enough riders are coming to tracks? So there's hardly any profit... It's simple allow quads at tracks again. More guys will begin rolling up. Will help big time with profits. They shouldn't have been banned in the first place, but now that you guys need profits more than ever, you need to start allowing them again.
Berm Dying slowly for decades. Only hope is probably electric, and that's if they make them cheap and don't get greedy, which seems unlikely because everyone is greedy these days
Hi all state side I'm from uk and have ridden in California lots of times with the mx holiday industry here in the uk you sign on and that is a disclaimer that you accept that mx is dangerous and it's your fault if you hurt yourself good luck and keep the good times rolling
Placing blame on the lawsuits instead of tracks that fell short in areas of safety. Whether it is to avoid law suits or to try and broaden the sport to new audiences, plenty of tracks could improve their facilities, their image, and their safety measures. Don't hire 10 flaggers at $15 an hour for 6 hours. Take that money and get cameras and lights, pay 1 or 2 guys to watch the cameras and trigger the lights. We ask the ama and feld to do all of these great ideas but don't ever practice them and put an idea to work and prove a concept.
1st off I have never seen a public track with lights and cameras I actually don’t know if that would work but also lacr is so much safer than the other tracks lots of flaggers and split practice for kids so they don’t get jumped on. All the flaggers there know what they are doing definitely safest track in socal
How can we have sk8 parks everywhere but no bike tracks? This sucks is wish honda would work with the city bring back motocross to elsinore and give the crf line back the elsinore name. They could save this town and the moto community wile saving the brand. Just imagine being able to get a brand new elsinore crf450 with the retro green and silver grafix
The city of calgary is trying to close the iconic track that has been a rideing area since like the 1920s,,the people voted in a woke mayor a few years back
I rode there and it’s the most dangerous track ever. The build is the worst ever. I have seen more people get helicoptered out of there than any other track.LACR is in a very windy area. Unfortunately this is the track I ruptured my Achilles. They build massive jumps, then small jumps off of long straight aways. The track is terrible and I understand why they had so many lawsuits.
Buy nothing from Taylor's company(s).
God bless you Cooksey for having the balls to talk about the important issues!!!
what they need do take away electric dirt bike and bring more race tracks or if people want electric dirt bike they are more race tracks shutting down they need do take away electric

The insurance companies have ruined everything in every aspect of life. They are price gouging, and they themselves should be sued.

Just a bummer when someone in the industry does this, when they could take responsibility and take care of their own.
The California bureaucrats are running companies out of the state. Time to move the entire motocross industry to the East coast.
Or to run the bureaucrats out of that beautiful state, look at the map, most of the state voted Red. Send the Comys packing!
@@CookseyMediayup LA and San Francisco make out vote the rest of the state
Im a trooper and every car crash has attorneys involved and injuries even if the cars have barely a scratch.
AMA is disgusting! 🤮
@CookseyMedia we're here for ya brotha 💪🏾
$30 for a day at the track? Every track I ride in Florida & Georgia is $40-$50 a day. A weekend at the races will cost you over $100 a day.
It’s 40 at LACR.
$25k per manufacturer or per manufacturer per track either way the math doesn’t add up. One isn’t enough money second they can’t afford
They need to put the track in a Wyoming LLC. Make it very difficult to file a lawsuit
If we sign a waiver when we enter the track, why is insurance a must?
And that’s why I don’t support the AMA
"There's no way to learn"
UA-cam, MX Factory, Moto Academy, and just about anywhere a half dozen pros that offer very reasonable 1 on 1 or small group classes. I'm in D6 and can think off the top of my head of 5-6 open classes I could have taken within 40 minutes drive in the last month, not counting private sessions.
I was thinking the same thing. Also here in socal so many coaches are here willing to help people learn and I know a guy with a private track that can teach people too
I’d like the info for the private track and coach. Quail Canyon MX has been closed for 2 years now and it’s been a kick in the gut.
@@yamagrow420 we1 racing in Beaumont. Coach is Dominic Desimone
This sucks.
Thanks for what you do Cooksie.
I know everyone is hating on the Insurance Companies, but we need to push the blame where it belongs onto the US Legal system.
I spoke to Adam Bailey and Eric Peronnard, they claim there was never an agreement in place for Deegan to race the event. Eric's exact response was "I never had Deegan on the roster"
I'm not going to read through the whole thread, but Anderson admitted already he was never planning on going (Kawasaki won't allow it) but he commented for fun / stroke the flames.
Thank you for the clarification!
Technically is the best type of true.
Sadly the AMA really doesn’t give a shite, when a tragedy happens the through it on the track owners
Please check out Northern Minnesota track. I'm old but there tracks are top notch. Brookstone Mn echo valley. Staples MINNESOTA. And Little falls . My boys race and practice there. And my daughter has worked there with a great pay. And Mora bermbenders. Is a great track with awesome safety with and shift!!
are they open this time of year? I know you have a lot of snow out there
I raced through the 70s. Society is so damn soft & scared,,,,
Way too soft! People need to stand up!
Not trying to argue, but $52,000 per year would be $1000 per week, (52 weeks in a year), which is $4,000 per month. That is still insane!
I got rid of every EKS goggle i ever had. Bye! I will never wear them again. My best friend owns Sleepy Hollow MX in PA and i know what he goes through to keep it running. What a disgrace to our sport. It would be amazing if he did what you suggested and paid their insurance.
Rich has a chance to make it right, I wish he stood for something, but he is a coward.
Quail Canyon MX in Gorman has been closed for 2 years+
The blame for high insurance rates, track closings, and lawsuits falls on all of us. There is a long list of reasons for the current problems - the main ones are that at least half of the citizens of California voted for politicians who pass laws and/or individuals who sued when they had the chance, even if they claim to hate lawsuits.
the industry should buy open land and let people ride for free-no sueing stipulation
anyone know of any good turn tracks in the desert or hills here in socal?
LACR was the first Mx track I ever rode super sad to see it go
I think you should have touched base on the criminal activity they partook in that day. I mean, his dad was mad they wanted to use a stretcher, then somehow his father suited up signed a waiver and the races an LLAR as his son. How did that not fk them?
The suiting up was a different track on a different day, but yea his dad tried moving him without a stretcher…
@@CookseyMedia thank you for clearing that up. Still regardless that’s unacceptable this isn’t Disney lol
Lake elsinore and now LACR 🤦♂️
😔 day
The fact this is just coming to light 7+ yrs later is criminal. Everyone who didn’t report on this should just quit and walk away
Agreed! It lets you know who is under the “industry media” thumb. I can promise you I didn't get this information first!
Not sure if he could it even if he wanted w. Sounds too much like insurance fraud
He could easily disguise it as a sponsorship from EKS
My very first question is. Why the f isn’t the AMA helping with tracks, and riding areas? They haven’t done shit! Stop giving money to the AMA, through races etc. They aren’t helping with anything.
AMA is a joke. Look at how they've allowed mx tracks to ban quads from them. They're directly in control of ATVMotocross. The riders involved have been screwed because of their negligence. No system has been put into place assuring that people in the mx quad industry aren't screwed over.
I don’t see this sport lasting 20 more years. I don’t have a bike anymore because there is nowhere to ride within hours of my house.
What are the details on the rich Taylor thing? I’m assuming his kid got hurt? Did he like hit something that wasn’t supposed to be there or some weird circumstance? Or is it like more of a kicking and screaming situation?
I would say a kicking-and-screaming incident, if you watch my old videos I detail the situation.
@@CookseyMedia Thanks for the reply! I will definitely do that.
Not enough riders are coming to tracks? So there's hardly any profit... It's simple allow quads at tracks again. More guys will begin rolling up. Will help big time with profits. They shouldn't have been banned in the first place, but now that you guys need profits more than ever, you need to start allowing them again.
The sport is going to die
Berm Dying slowly for decades. Only hope is probably electric, and that's if they make them cheap and don't get greedy, which seems unlikely because everyone is greedy these days
Everything is dead in California
I hope not, but this culture of silence and going along to get along needs to stop!
@@CookseyMediathat’s why we need to move the heart of MX to free states like AZ, NV, UT, and ID
Hi all state side I'm from uk and have ridden in California lots of times with the mx holiday industry here in the uk you sign on and that is a disclaimer that you accept that mx is dangerous and it's your fault if you hurt yourself good luck and keep the good times rolling
Their is not enough tracks
We plan to move the east coast from socal. Ill only miss glen helen!!
Boycott Xbrand goggles!!!
The city of calgary is trying to close the iconic track that has been a rideing area since like the 1920s,,the people voted in a woke mayor a few years back
I query why they don't have the motorsport is dangerous clause like other racing events have.
Why did Rich Taylor sue??
RICH TAKER
😂
Ride at your own risk, i broke both my ankles at a track. I didn't sue anybody cost me 147.000$
This makes me sad this was one of my dream tracks to ride
Why do you guys keep complaining about the cost of living, or doing business, and then vote in a way that makes the problem worse?
This is fudging bull! I can't ride anywhere anymore. Wtf!!???
That's a governor Newsome problem he is hand cuffing all business in California my brother can't get home insurance either
Newsome is a “Commy”
@CookseyMedia truth
Yep, its a freeway very dangerous
lacr is closing but saddleback is gonna reopen
Fake news
@@stevesmith756 of course, this is the internet, and this is america...the news is as real as some of the people.
