"its important to support other artists, in the community, and its also important to study every move they make so you can crush your competitors.." that is low key the coldest sh*t I've heard all quarantine!
I think your posts about film and cameras are the ones I'm most excited by. And there are some great UA-camrs out there churning it out on a regular basis. I know it's hard, time-consuming work, and we're thankful. Please keep it up!
Wait whaaaaat, hold my iced latte, a WOMAN THAT TALKS ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHY ON UA-cam, noooow ain't that a rare sight! imma subscribe right now to T. Hopper.
Haha. I totally understand. I hate shooting outside, when it’s hot...but I have to. It’s summer all around in Miami. I shoot in the muggy mugs of swampy south FLORIDA with a medium format and tripod... my lens fogs up disgusting, I’m sweating profusely into my WLVF and night photography is a special hell because I can’t see past my sweat. I love it.
Yay T.Hopper. She has completely filled the void Ted Forbes left in my soul when he stopped doing artist videos lately. I've shot a few rolls of Retrochrome and they all turned out suuuuper bright/thin. Was really bummed out because I love the colors. Which ISO do you expose yours at?
Instead of the Arca Cube (which is cooler) there’s the Linhof 3-Way Leveling Head I which also offers adjustments per axis, though not geared (and not much cheaper, but look for used).
Mate just learned of your channel via a comment on another video not watched your content yet but as I’m a film shooter of old who took to digital like a gray hound with a rabbit and works full time press photographer and shoots vids on my chan digitally blah blah But who has recently fallen back in love with film I couldn’t sub your channel fast enough damn near cracked the screen. Regards Paul 📷❤️
Followed Tomas Sanchez and T. Hopper so go ahead and send your invoice for publicity. Can't bill Willem because I was already following him. [For real though, good video! I love when people do recommendations that aren't the obvious ones. Thanks!]
@@TatianaHopper class video btw, i looked up that film stock cos i just shot my first roll of 35mm film and that was the cheapest colour option they had lol
One day I hope to have the courage and bravery...to sell my kidney to afford that geared tripod head. But seriously though that thing is more expensive than all the money I've spent on photography combined lol.
every time i've seen jason use that tripodhead, i've been interested in buying one. I never knew what it was called until today, and now I wish I never got to know
I was seriously thinking of getting the tripod head... and then I saw the price. 😳 I think I went through all of the stages of grief, the price is so high. 🤣
Could you possibly recommend a tripod that's under $300, that can support the Pentax 67? If it's able to be hiked with that would be lovely, if not, that's okay.
my dear friend, i think the photos he photographed in his zine are half between film and digital due to the cold the machine's mechanisms stopped working quickly. big hug and keep up the good work.
Hey man, what tripod are you using with that arca? I have been needing a new tripod for forever...and we are on the same page about the micro adjustments with ball heads, It’s the bane of my night photography existence.
FYI: willem has also shot some photos of his book digital because of the cold temperatures. He has explained it in one of his videos ;))
Thanks for the heads up! Now I'm going to go fire my research department (The research department is me)
@@grainydaysss FYI : check out Polar Night by Mark Mahaney wink wink

Thank you Jason, glad to see Baxter was stoked on the zine too
Baxter reads it every night, it's his fav bedtime story
When are we getting the collab vid ?
@@grainydaysss "and this is the part where willem's camera froze up for the seventh time!"
Thank you Jason!

seeing someone inspirational and thinking "oh well I guess I'll just quit art forever" is such a mood.
yes, that, a lot
grainydays takes dry humor to heights I did not know were possible. god I love this channel
i just sub because of it!

Thopper is amazing. Love how much thought and care she puts into her videos, mixing art, philosophy, and history together
Totally 👍🏻
T. Hopper is awesome! Great recommendation.

Yes! I love Tomas Sanchez work! it's so photographic and surreal at the same time
Oooohhhhh T.Hopper! Good find man!
the mirror slap is the best part
Dude I love T. Hopper. Her videos are so it.
That film stock looks great.
i love the way you inegrate humour into videos like this. i look forward to each one of your videos please continue what you're doing.

I find that female photographers are not often talked about, so thanks! will defo check Hopper's work
Great video man! Your sense of humor throughout your videos always cracks me up.
So I just stumbled on this video and BAM... You just became my favorite UA-camr !!!
Loved this video, glad i found your channel
This is great to watch immediately after finding a roll of Kodacolor that expired in 1991.
Damn you for getting the word out on Retrochrome! Now more people will buy up that grainy purply goodness
Really glad I discovered your channel! Entertaining, funny, educational and inspiring. Much thanks.
The Arca Swiss C1 is freakin' 1.8k dollars holy lord. I'd have to sell all my film photography gear just to afford it 😂
I got one of the willem’s zines as well, and it’s absolutely stunning.
haha that rhymed!
Love the 50,700 Pesos! Good stuff dude and the freezer tip on the book was genius!😂
CORRECTION: several shots in William’s Zine were actually shot on his EOS R. Something to with the weather being too cold for the RZ67.
The Mamiya 6 was in the pool!
Have a Mamiya 6, can confirm, lens retracting is great for travel.
Jason thank you for yet another episode of what can only be properly called "funucation". I learned much and laughed even more....as always.

Deadpan greatness.
I love the commentary, thanks for the laughs.
I don't know how I got here. But I'm glad I did. Thank you for good quarantine content.
Just watched your interview on Pushing Film. If you ever are down in Orange County and want to try out the Xpan hit me up. I’m in San Juan Capistrano.
Love these videos man

You should be glad that the collapsing feature is gone, that is the one reason the Mamiya 6 cannot be serviced if that is the thing that breaks.
I like both Jamie Windsor and Sean Tucker for their philosophical discussions as well.
"yes daddy give it to me" = Subbed Instantly
Excellent video! What is the name of the music playing in the background??
Great video, really enjoyed it, except the but about how great Willem's book is, because it's sold out which makes me want it even more!!
Can’t wait till willem sees this vid
Hey thanks a lot for the vid. You've given me a lot to study this next week.

men, thanks for all your advices. very nice. can you tell me witch tripod do you use with your cube arca ? thanks
With 57,000 pesos you can buy a small used car. Or a Mamiya 7. Great video as always, Jason!

That SX70 is sweet man

FPP 400? Thats all I can get here in Australia. Looks so good. Did you shoot it at 400?
For those who are not balling like Jason, a Manfrotto 410 is great compromise to the brick Jason laid in his pants. ;)
GREAT!
Love how the hair is growing out :)
He said “Bodily appendage on a cold day” 😂
Where are your transparent glasses from? They're amazing!
FPP-RETROCHROME400 is awsome. How are you rating this film? Box?
Hey, do you want your Mamiya 6 to shoot 35mm film
There were actually a 35mm panoramic adapter in ebay.
But its too expensive.
Just saying.
I’m looking to move up from medium format to large format here soon. Any particular reason you decided to jump straight into 8x10 over 4x5?
Because go big or go home Billy

Thats literally the reason I don’t use ball heads for tripods. I can feel my camera tipping over whenever I use a heavy lens.
You should give a try to the 43mm, best Biogon on MF.
