What can you do in the ICON A5?
Well, pretty much anything. This is what the ICON Life looks like. The ICON A5 is here and ready for delivery. ICON is taking orders and shipping its aircraft to owners.
Maybe you’ve never heard of ICON or the A5. In short, the A5 is an amphibious light sport aircraft (S-LSA). It’s one of the first personal aircraft that can take you almost anywhere, be it a luxury destination, remote island, or grass strip in the backcountry. The A5 also has an optional trailer and foldable wings that allows you to tow it behind your car. You can even pull the plane up and park it at your backyard dock or local marina.
The ICON A5 is a land-based plane and a seaplane with the versatility to function as a boat but also the flexibility to take off and head back to the skies.
At ICON, we set out to create a sport airplane that redefines flying, a plane that is extremely safe and easy to fly, but also enables you to unlock adventures typically inaccessible by traditional aircraft. I own this plane! Flys great, very compact and easy to store.
It all fits on my desktop and probably doesn’t take up more than a couple megabytes.

Just for comparison, you can have 3 regular seaplanes for the price of a base model, or 5 for a fully equipped one.
Or a used C172 for one third of the price of the Icon.

In Europa you have no space by law for such a "ofroad" airplay, Easley it is not allowed to start and land everywhere at the lake or sea.
How is it in the US, is it allowed by law to start at every lake?

Microsoft's new flight sim is absolutely amazing. I just flew the Icon A5 out of Seattle WA. 96 miles south to Mt. St. Helens! The volcano looked incredible as i was coming in from 11,000 ft . Also, there are a couple huge lakes near the mountain, and so I landed the Icon on the one which is on the north side. After the landing I was just floating while enjoying a JAW DROPPING view of Mt. St. Helens from that lake!! I was blown away by that experience. I can't believe how great everything looked and that It was even possible to do that!!!!!!
I HIGHLY recommend that flight.

It is a great little aircraft but it would be even far greater if it were capable of Vtol. If the Icon was more Lilium Jet, it would truly be a game changer.
Damn, you should make the prop movable so you can tilt it upwards, and then reverse the direction, then people could land on much shorter landing strips, almost like a helicopter... With an electric motor it could perhaps be doable...

There's tons of experimentals out there. It's a separate registration process.

Over a congested area 2000 ft clearance horizontally from the tallest structure is required I’m pretty sure New York is congested
Nope @ all of you guys. On the Hudson River there’s something called the “Hudson River corridor exclusion” which is basically airspace over the Hudson. Aircraft are cleared to be at that altitude (below 1,300ft I believe). For the Statue of Liberty, you’re allowed to do orbite and descend down to 500ft. What you can also do if you ask is the Central Park transition to the east river. It’s pretty self explanatory but it means that you can cross over Central Park to go down the east river. Hope that helped.
