I am in my 50’s now and i found out my step dad that treated like his own was not my biological dad. I felt so hurt. But considered him my dad more than anything. He loved me and never treated me differently. He was great.
I can relate to this story so much.

Except the first baby born in the United States through IVF is a woman named Elizabeth Jordan Carr born in Norfolk Virginia in 1981. She was on TIME magazine... Soo...her mother is STILL lying. There's been no successful births in 1977 when Kerry was born. Not hard to research.🤷🏽‍♀️

I can totally relate to this life story Kerry Washington! I was 9 years old when my 10 year old sister told me that my mother had been married before and that the wonderful man raising us was not our real father. My sister found my mother's marriage license, divorce papers and our birth certificates while she was prowling through our mother's cedar chest & she figured it out. I was sworn to secrecy by my sister because she didn't want to get in trouble for prowling through Moma's things. Daddy told us the truth when we were 15 & 16 years old. He called us to come to his office at his job to talk about it. Moma wasn't even there. She never seemed to understand why I wanted to meet my biological father & didn't even want to answer my questions about him. I always felt like I couldn't measure up to the my sisters & my parents before I even knew my Daddy had.adopted me & my older sister. I wasn't trying to disrespect my parents by wanting to meet my biological father. I was just trying to figure out who I was & why I was so different from them. I found out years later that my biological father & his mother both had mental health issues just like myself & my oldest son. My Daddy died of cancer when I was 24 & never got to meet my kids. He was an awesome father & I miss him so much! My biological father committed suicide in 2011. I'm 65 now & still trying to figure out who I am & why my.oldest son had to end up with.mental health issues too. I am so worried about him. He is grown & won't take his meds.

Even if you find your real dad...you'll still struggle. You'll never know who you are until you know your Father in Heaven "God" found in know religion. Found only when you cry out to God for answers and truth..You'll find once you come to believe and know Jesus as the Holy Spirit will lead you in to the Truth to set you free. John 3:16 Romans 8:9,14-17 being adopted into God's family. Our identity is found in knowing our Father. "Abba Father". Romans 10:9 Repent and turn whole heartedly, You'll find everything you ever need. Just Believe ❤

This is such a relatable story cause a lot of families go through an experience like this but can have trouble accepting that reality. I was 25 when i found out my dad had fathered a son nearly a decade before he and my late mother were even introduced to each other. I met my half brother and we immediately hit it off and we actually are in regular contact which makes it great for the 4 of us kids as we have all since had an interaction with one another

My brother and I can relate too, as my mom forced it to be a secret for all of our lives. My brother and I found out we were half siblings a few years ago, because my uncle got a little too drunk one night and let it slip about my dad being my dad but stepping up to take care of my brother. I hate secrets with a passion, because I can relate to being surrounded by so many. A big reason I'm so open about my stories as well. We need to stop acting like anything good comes from it, because it really doesn't.

I wonder why Kerry's parents felt the need to share this information with her after all these years? I'm sure it doesn't change the love she feels for her Dad. I hope this is something they truly wanted to share with her now and were not blackmailed/forced into revealing it. Maybe they feel that as they are getting older they don't want to take such a secret to the grave? I've always loved Kerry Washington, especially on Scandal. Olivia Pope is such an icon!

How our parents were thinking then is very different from us now. Most of them are stoic and it is very difficult for them to unlearn certain things and a situation like this happening 4 decades ago was very rare and it was obviously coupled with shame hence the need to keep going without realising how holding this huge revelation was affecting Kerry unknowingly.

Actually the first baby born through IVF in the United States was Elizabeth Jordan carr 1981 Norfolk Virginia. It was blasted all over times or life magazine. There are no successful birth before that year and Kerry was born in 1977 in New York. If that was the case she would have been all over Life or time magazine . Kinda not hard to look up😬That's why they're saying this now so she won't look into the fact that her mom cheated. Why lie?

I'm almost 40 amd I found out my dad is not my biological father. The secret my mom kept hurts. I don't know if my dad knows and the fact that I can't get information from my mom and dad hurts even more. I talked to my biological dad once. He said he wanted to meet me, but had to reveal my existence too... I never heard from him again. I was/am the secret child. I still cry sometimes. Being rejected by your biological father hurts. Especially when you learn that some of your talents come from him. That your identity is influenced by his dna. I have a void. Now I feel like I have to keep two grown folks secret. I don't want to keep their secret, their lies. If I am honest, I want my bio dad to love me and want to know me. 😢

Parenting presents significant challenges. Initially, it made sense to hide the truth about her father, but revealing it later must have been a difficult decision for the parents. I have reservations about celebrities disclosing family secrets and criticizing their parents publicly to boost book sales, especially considering a man willingly stepped into a parental role for a child who wasn't biologically his. It's important to consider that African American parents from that generation lacked the resources and tools available today, and they likely believed they were doing what was best for their family.

@@cindywilliams8188 Sperm donation, as a medical practice, began in the late 19th century. The first recorded case of artificial insemination using donor sperm took place in 1884 when Dr. William Pancoast, a physician from the United States, performed the procedure on a woman without her knowledge. The woman's husband was aware and had consented, but the procedure and its nature remained a secret from the patient. The practice of artificial insemination with donor sperm (AID) began to gain wider acceptance and use in the mid-1900s, particularly after World War II. The 1960s and 1970s saw a significant increase in its use, driven in part by advances in medical technology and changing societal attitudes. By the 1980s and 1990s, sperm donation had become more mainstream

*I am so glad Kerry shared this story because I am on the verge of going to the sperm bank. Hollywood has been open about singles and couples visiting the sperm banks in movies and sitcoms for decades. What was once taboo is now seeing the light and getting the recognition needed for surrogates and sperm donors.. Honestly I think it is a beautiful story. However it SUCKS for those who wish to not be contacted once artificial Insemination takes place. Other than that, I say, go for it. Do what makes you happy.*

Really your facts are right!! Sperm donation, as a medical practice, began in the late 19th century.

Your comment has left me thinking it a sperm 'sperm donor'. In african communities in the 70s and 80s , if a couple is struggling to have children and they know the problem was with the man, they would ask his close relative who looks like him to sleep with his wife as a sperm donor. The secret would be taken to the grave.

Why did she feel the need to publicize this? How hurtful for the father that raised her. He’s the only father that she’s ever had. People need to keep these kinds of things in the family. She’s private about her marriage and kids but she puts the family she was raised in and her father on blast. That is beyond low! So what she came from a sperm donor…does that change everything her father has done for her? She needs to STFU and stop hurting her family..specifically the father that raised her.

Now, something so sensitive is plastered all across the Internet and every headline reads "not her biological father"... I would be devastated if I was a parent suffering from infertility.. There's a reason why it was kept a secret. No matter how Kerry spins it, this secret changes things. She just gave the world permission to put an asterisk next to this man's title of father.
