- At Krefeld Zoo it's forbidden to touch butterflies. Many people wonder why and that's why we asked a butterfly expert at the zoo. She explains why you must never touch butterflies.
Touching them condemns these magnificent animals in the worst case to death, but harms him in any case. For this reason, it is strictly forbidden to touch these animals.
The Butterfly Jungle at Krefeld Zoo is unique in the Lower Rhine area. Up to 200 animals live in this magnificent installation, where visitors can get close to the animals. You can watch butterflies from egg to caterpillar, from pupa to the finished moth.
Krefeld Zoo does not breed some species on its own but instead receives puppets from butterfly farmers who breed butterflies sustainably in the country of origin and protect the rainforest.
The Butterfly Jungle is only open from around mid-March to late October. The 550,000 € construction costs were financed by the Zoofreunde Krefeld e.V. and it was opened in 2010.

Also mir haben meine Eltern schon als ganz kleines Kindergartenkind beigebracht, dass man Schmetterlinge nicht an den Flügeln berühren darf, weil diese sonst kaputt gehen. Schade, dass viele Leute dies heute offensichtlich nicht wissen. Dabei sollte einem eigentlich schon der gesunde Menschenverstand sagen, dass die dünnen Flügel sehr empfindlich sind und man die nur mit den Augen anschauen darf.
Neu war für mich die Sache mit den Duftschuppen. Schon wieder was gelernt =)
Und weil es viele Leute nicht wissen, sind moderne Zoos und Aquarien auch so wichtig 👍😊

Ich sehe das ganz genauso.. Ich respektiere selbst die kleinsten Lebewesen auch wenn viele mich oft dafür belächeln.
„Das ist doch nur eine Ameise! Das ist doch nur eine Biene!“. Jedes Lebewesen hat nur ein Leben ganz egal wie klein es auch sein mag.
Man muss nicht alle lieben und toll finden aber man kann sich damit arrangieren. ❤

Sehr gut gemacht! Im Titel steht „nie berühren“ das sehe ich persönlich als etwas falsch, da das Tier ja auch von sich aus zbs auf die Hand fliegen kann. Dann berühre ich es ja theoretisch auch aber ungefährlich für das Tier.
Naja, es geht ja ums Anfassen, wie es auch im Titel steht, und nicht ums Angeflogenwerden. Wenn ein Tier zum Beispiel auf die Hand fliegt, dann wird es ja nicht angefasst, sondern es berührt die Person lediglich, aber auch dann darf man selbst nicht den Schmetterling berühren.

There is a persistent belief that if you touch the wings of a moth or butterfly, it will lose the ability to fly, or even die. While it is important to be extremely gentle when petting a butterfly, the consequences are rarely so dramatic.
In this video, we talk about visitors touching a butterfly in a house with hundreds or thousands of visitors a day. If everybody now comes in this house and touch butterflies, of course even the gentlest touch could harm the animals just because there are so many people doing it.
Of course, experts know how to touch a butterfly and do this rarely and gently. It's explained in the video by an expert quite well and you can activate subtitles / captions.
